Another The Deacon Shaves RU-vid video.
Hey it's finally Friday !! We made it to the weekend !!!
And as promised , we're gonna have a showdown between 2 modern day adjustables. On my right, is the Rockwell T2, and on the left, the Vikings Blade Emperor Meiji !!
As howard Cosell would say, "Let's go to the tale of the tape"

This is Vikings Blade's most technical safety razor
I went with Siam from Ariana and Evans. No tallow or animal products. As it is the 1st Friday of Lent. Here's the scent profile and ingredients (just in case you don't believe me) :
Scent : Mandarin, lemongrass, ylang ylang, green tea, black tea, orchid, lotus, bamboo, Thai vetiver (imported from Thailand),sandalwood and musk.
VR1 Ingredients: Stearic acid, water, Kokum, Shea, glycerin, potassium hydroxide, castor oil,, Rice Milk, sodium hydroxide, sunflower oil, palm oil, avocado oil, cocoa butter, jojoba oil, Coconut Milk, sodium lactate, coconut oil, colloidal oatmeal, agave, aloe juice, hyaluronic acid, slippery elm
I got the teas, lemongrass and orchid almost immediately from the soap.
Here is the setup:
Razor - T2 vs Emperor Meiji (both set @ 3).
Blade - Astra Green (new)
Lather Bowl - The Deacon Shaves Prototype
Brush - PAA Aerolite
Alum Block - GBS
Pre Shave - Hot Shower
Shave Soap - Ariana and Evans Siam
After Shave Splash - Ariana and Evans Siam
Just some notes: The soap, really lathered nice, although I beleive that due to operator error this time it was a little thin. Too much water . But it still was good. BTW, what do you do if you find the lather has too much water. Comment below.
Both razors performed very well, with the weight of the Meiji being 21 grams heavier, it felt easier to use than the T2.
I did a 3 pass shave, this was a draw until pass 3. While each razor gave an extremely close shave BBS in my opinion (but as always your shaving experience may vary YSEMV ) It wasn't until Brenda did the final test .
Brenda's verdict (not knowing which side was which razor: hmm....very nice and smooth on both sides...but the left side is closer to ABS (Android Bottom Smooth) while the right is a very good BBS !!!!
Well, there you have it. The Emperor in a close shave takes the T2 . (YSEMV). But don't take my word a gospel. Try them for yourself !!!!
Ariana and Evans Siam, If you have the opportunity pick some up. You wont be dissapointed.

That Rockwell T2 is one beefy razor. I love the way it looks.

Really nice comparison! I am on the fence with Rockwell 6c and Viking blade Emperor August which should be just a longer version of Meiji, do you have any reccomandation?

Hi Bo, thanks. The 6c is a completely different animal from the Viking or the t2. On the 6c, the adjustability, as you know, involves changing the base plate. In my opinion, between the t2 and the Viking, for the money, you can't beat the Vikings. Hope this helps. Have a great day and smooth shaves

Nice comparison! I have an original Rockwell Model T which is mostly the same as the T2 save a change in the top doors. I have tried liking it, really tried, and it's just not meant to be. I think it's the width and shape of the head. When you held the razors up side by side I could see how much wider it was. Clunky comes to mind. Oh well. There are many choices thankfully. Not every razor needs to work for every face! I haven't tried a Viking's Blade razor to this point. Honestly, the dual head thing puts me off a little, although it's probably a really great idea in practice. Which side were you using? I can usually save thin lather by agitating it on my face, kind of like a abbreviated face lather. Most times that will thicken it up. Thanks for doing this. It was helpful to see them side by side. Hey Eric!! Thanks for the input. I like both of them for a DE adjustable. The Viking was a little closer to ABS than the T2 and had more weight. Pm me about Viking's Blade. Have a great weekend and smooth shaves

I appreciate your content, although I must question your methods of comparison. you used your favorite razor in your dominant hand. it's clear as day your angles were off, and your shave technique. you took much more time with the Rockwell than you did the other. you could have saved time and just explained why you like the t2 better. 🤬

Well, DJ, i do appreciate your comment. You may be right on somethings here. If I remember when I did this, I was somewhat new to the wet shaving scene. I believe that my technique may have improved. As for angles, it's a YMMV thing. I've seem some angles that I swore would not shave for a lick. and others that I am surprised that they didn't carve their face off !! And this was a new thing for me doing side by side comparisons. Again, I appreciate you taking the time to leave a comment. Have a great day and smooth shaves

The T2 is a far better razor then anything Viking blades from China can produce.

Hi Wildman, and thanks for you comment. I'm not 100% sure where it was made. And I will have to check my version of the T2 to see its manufacturing origin. I had said that YMMV or YSEMV. I liked that the VB was a heavier razor then the T2 I have and if I remember correctly the final verdict on the shave was ever so slight. Will I not use the T2 in favor of the VB ?
