Proper ending for a gruesome person.

It always amazes me how Hitchcock characters can be so civilized and blasé while plotting a cruel and gruesome murder.

Blake Gildaphish, you are right. Perhaps that is just the point he is trying so persistently to bring home. Appearances are too often deceptive and various violent and diabolical plots continue to be hatched in the minds of the immaculately dressed and culturally sophisticated.

Great performance from Mildred Natwick as the Aunt. She was in bare foot in the park and Daisy Miller. Phenomenal underrated actress.

Do you think she was underrated? She was nominated for an Academy Award, Tonys, won an Emmy. Her career stretched from early 30s to the late 80s. She did everything--stage, film and tv. Superb comedian and wonderful dramatic roles. I think that would make her successful and recognized by her peers and all her many many fans over all the years, she elevated every vehicle she appeared in.. The Quiet Man was my personal favorite, Hitchcock's The Trouble with Harry and of course her outstanding performance in Barefoot in the Park. Isn't it wonderful to come across a little gem like this?

This is silly. As if the older lady wouldn't taste the texture of ground glass in a souffle... which is lovely for a smooth texture. Even very very finely ground, the glass would be almost immediately detectable. Oh well, interesting story.

Actually ground glass was a common murder method in old fictional crime stories, but in reality ground glass won't kill someone. If the glass is too big they'd notice it, so to grind it fine enough as to not notice it, it probably wouldn't even hurt you. Maybe cause a minor upset, but certainly not death. It's possible it was used in these stories so as not to give people ideas about real methods such as cyanide.
