Soul Blade - Siegfried Endings + Intro (PS1) 

I think the poor graphics actually make Siegfried’s bad ending creepier than if they were to make it today.

The first ending, frightening (canon) The second one, so sad... Poor Siegfried.

So if anyone wants an in depth explanation of Siegfried first ending, which is canon, here it is. When Sophitia, and Taki fatally defeated Cervantes (with one of his swords destroyed in the battle), Siegfried happened to arrive on the scene. Lying next beside the dead pirate was the powerful sword, Soul Edge, the same sword he was searching for. As Siegfried attempted to grab Soul Edge, the spirit of the demonic sword, known in-game as Soul Edge, or in later games, Inferno, attacked him! With only half of it’s power left, the spirit was weaker, and Siegfried would end up being victorious in this fight. Seeing how unstable, and troubled Siegfried was, the spirit of Soul Edge decided he was a wonderful host to help it’s own wicked goals. It spoke to Siegfried, and made a “deal”; it sinisterly told Siegfried if he collected souls, and helped restore it’s own power, then it would resurrect his father. Siegfried agreed, and as Siegfried finally got the chance to wield Soul Edge for himself, it clamped onto his hand, possessed him, and released the Evil Seed (that explosion and beam in the sky. It was caused by Inferno’s own unbalanced rage after the other half of Soul Edge was destroyed and Cervantes was killed) The Evil Seed would cause destruction, chaos, and devastation around the world unlike anything before it! For the next couple in-game years, Soul Edge used Siegfried (now under the persona, “Nightmare”) as a puppet to harvest souls and complete it’s other sinister objectives. With Siegfried’s incredible talent in swordsmanship, and the help of several followers, Soul Edge was slowly becoming more, and more powerful, again! 2024 and Nightmare/Siegfried is still one of my favorite video game characters, period!

I may very well have been scared the first time I saw the bad ending when I was younger. I had no idea what was even happening to Siegfried, and the screaming was a bit much back then. Also, the whole idea of bad endings was new to me, because I'd only seen Tekken endings before that, and they seemed more like good endings at the time (the ones I could understand, anyway.)

Siegfried's first ending was canon.. Soul Edge had sensed the bloodlust in Siegfried and how he killed his own father and bonded with him like a symbiote. Peace had returned to the regions of Prussia/Germany everyday life sang at night never knowing that Siegfried now Nightmare was lurking nearby.

The first ending is the only really canonical thing that happened in this game. Sophitia defeated Cervantes but was heavily wounded. Siegfried stumbles on Cervantes’ body, which is reanimated by Soul Edge. Siegfried fights and beats it and then claims Soul Edge and is possessed by it, turning into Nightmare.

Jeez, even with this ending, siegfried has 2 miserable outcomes. If its not becoming nightmare its impaling a rock with his sword apologising to his father and claiming he doesnt know what to do

Yeesh. Note how his body shrinks into nothing while the Nightmare armour grows in his place. Graphical limitations, I know, but it's still (probably) creepier than they intended.

The reason why he was breathing heavily is because of the weight of all those armour

Damn, I remember the bad ending of Siegfriend's route, it was legitimately sad to see him unable to resist. It made me feel uneasy as a kid

Nobody expected him to have a part this big in the series. It was also cool if you knew how to do it you could play as nightmare on this game .

Siegfried the Crimson Knight, clad in armour of daemonic flesh and bone. Imagine if we got this version throughout the Soulcalibur series instead of the Azure Knight.

Siegfreid reminds me of the infamous madman: Don Quixote of La Mancha. Both he and siegfried have lost their grasps on reality and have fallen into the clutches of insanity! Fun fact: The author of Don Quixote is a Spaniard named Miguel de Cervantes who shares his name with the Spanish pirate Cervantes de Leon from this game. Coincidence? I think NOT!

I like Seig more like this. With the short hair, a little cocky in fights, and seemingly a lot more innocent. Poor bb. Now hes just crying about redemption and literally the cause of everything thats been wrong.

Here's some Namco trivia regarding Siegfried in his two endings that included some dialogue and sounds: (In both of his endings)- Siegfried: Agh! *PANT* *PANT* (In his first ending)- Siegfried: Ah! Aah! Uagh! Aah! *SCREAMS* Uaaaaaaaaahh!!! (In his second ending)- Siegfried: Hyaaah! I'm sorry... Father... I... I don't know... what to do...

These fucking multiple endings though...I didn’t know there were button prompts at the time but when I got them I just by the weirdest off chance I pressure triangle (yes I remember) and thinking “holy shit....are there different endings for others too like this???” Took me forever until there was that cheat code magazine that would come out for games at the time. I would always get them at 7-11 lol good times

I did watch it back in 2011 on RU-vid. The canon ending traumatized my 11 year old spine. And I never knew that there's some alternate endings. Nightmare, how can you traumatized me back then? I meet you since SoulCalibur 2 and your origin is this?

Oh yeah?! Well Soul Calibur VI's main story mode started off from this ending, and it was completely redone from scratch to make it look even more jarring, yet more awesome.

i was hoping they remake that scene of him turning into nightmare for sc6, but all they did was give him googly eyes, cut away, cut back and hes nightmare without showing the transformation.... sad didnt think i would be liking the original scene more than the new one

Is it weird that Siegfried was only seventeen years old and soul blade? Yes I know it's called Soul Edge but it was called so blade for America because of the overuse of of the name from Japan and other countries, but I'm wondering how the hell does he fight at a young age let alone in soulblade you can hear a slight German accident on him despite his voice having an American voice actor.
