Dude, the jet alone is pretty awesome. I've only ever seen the ludicrously long combiner scene for Mighty Orbots, but this set looks amazing. Kinda reminds me of the ShogunZords.
I LOVE GODMARS!!!!! The only series where the main mecha starts off near-invincible and then starts getting weaker as the enemies sabotage the lead character more and more. Its such a good series. The mecha is less important than the characters of the series. If you can, you should watch this!!!! Thanx Peaugh. Awesome review. :D
i dont like this kind of designs, but after seeing how they "transform" and combine, the little tricks they do(which transformers could really benefit from) and the final mode, and that it isnt completely a brick and of course has so much articulation and good accesories i gotta say i really like it
Great now I have the Mighty Orbots theme in my head.....and will not go away! LOL I have not even thought about that show in nearly 20 some odd years, but I can now remember the theme.
Never thought I'd see an SoC review on this channel, (outside of macross anyway), I am glad you reviewed it and I hope it doesn't get you as much flak as when people got butthurt over your kamen rider reviews, because I for one would relish the thought of more SoC reviews on your channel!
God Mars was my Fav. "combine" Robot from Anime when i was little. I've got the same set, worth every penny. Just be careful, I did find some plastics on certain sections are easily to break and as time goes by...the plastic may get a little easier to break. Have fun!
Bandai and TMS even requested to turn the God Mars toys into Mighty Orbots reshells, but it failed for some stupid reason. TMS, creator of God Mars, hate making Orbots as bootlegs of God Mars, as they too co-developed the English cartoon.
If you are starting to buy some Soul of Chogokin bots, you should really try to get your hands on their Gunbuster, one of the best SOC figure in the line and never re-released for once.
I like the creative way of containing the combined hands inside one of the armbot legs. Great way to avoid parts forming for the combined mode, and still looks good. Also it avoids the even greater complexity of the self-contained multi-part fists of the MMC Assaultus/3P MP Bruticus. But that bodybot lack of thigh articulation, though. Ugh. Always thought this guy looked great in catalogs, but I never liked the fact that I couldn't discern any thigh articulation. Even as a little kid in 1985 I thought that it was a shame that Bandai could do so much so well with this guy, but they couldn't get that right.
I don't know about God Mars other than seeing the toys on eBay, but I assume the spaceships are not to scale? I don't know though, the combined modes of the Orbots were much more massive than their individual forms so maybe God Mars is the same.
My younger brother showed me this anime when I was about 17 at the time, there was only a sub of the first episode of the drama so yeah, couldn't find anything else on it. Though I heard they retooled the anime into a cartoon so yeah...
@@davidsattgast4059 The Mighty Orbots were NOT a retooled anime of God Mars. Mighty Orbots were totally original. The Mighty Orbot toys thoe WHERE retooled God Mars toys.
At the risk of being the beardy know-it-all Ben was trying to avoid being, God Mars and Mighty Orbots are actually not the same show, though their robot designs are obviously VERY similar--and I imagine that if they released God Mars in different colors as Mighty Orbots in America or Europe, you could hardly tell the difference. If you remember Orbots though, the arms were a pair of feminine robots, skinnier than Gaia (the small one that fits in God Mars' chest) and colored yellow and pink, I think. Great review though Peaugh, I was really curious about these guys. How much was the retail price you paid?
The original godmars toy was going to be retooled into mighty robots but the show was cancelled and they scrapped it. There are some test shots with show accurate colors out there somewhere.
Eric Spornitz Oh, no, the information is certainly welcome, I just didn't have enough of it to speak confidently on the subject. Thanks for filling it in!
Jason smith We can thank the Tonka Toy company for the Mighty Orbots' demise, both the series and possible toyline. They filed a lawsuit against the creators of Orbots, claiming it was it based on their Mighty Gobots line. Um, the Orbots never transformed into vehicles, and the animation was far superior than what Hanna Barbera was doing. I'm surprised Tonka didn't try to sue Hasbro for Transformers. Oh wait, in 1987, Hasbro took over Tonka, then their Gobots line. Poetic Justice.
godmars is about a man called mars and when he was a baby , the robot gaia was seperated from mars but what tells me gaia is the weakest out of the team because when ever he's fighting a monster, the rest of the team have to help him out.
Somebody's going to have to explain this one to me. That doesn't seem to line up with the mighty orbits cartoon, although I remember next to nothing about that show. Did the human guy sit inside the robot in the cartoon. Wait, is the red guy a robot? What is going on here?
If you're into classic japan super robots now Peaugh try looking into Combattler V and Voltes V. I'm also sure you're familiar with Dairugger XV (Voltron Vehicle team).
Anime not cartoon, both are subsets of animation but cartoon isn't another word for an7me neither is it another word for animation. Seriously think, there are other forms of animation then just what you think...
Dude anime. comic books, manga, are all cartoons. Its an american art form. Anime a derivative for the word animation because japan-animation became controversial. You are talking when you should shut your mouth.
Oh shut my mouth? No. Animation is not synonimus with animation, cartoons are a subgenre of animation, like 3d animation, claymation, etc. Again, non of these are cartoons other than the subgenre WITH the name. Why? Because, like rock music it has subgenres like punk and metal, etc. Punk isn't metal, and so on. Anime isn't cartoons because animation isn't synonimus with the word cartoon. The traditional meaning of animation is to move. "a simple drawing showing the features of its subjects in a humorously exaggerated way, especially a satirical one in a newspaper or magazine." "Exagerrated drawings." Both are subsets of animation, but neither are eachother. Avatar is an example of an anime influenced cartoon, its not anime. Panty an stalkings is an example of a cartoon influenced anime. Again animation is a spectrum, not a straight line. The funny thing is, is that westerners use the word incorrect like they have about the word literally as of late. If you want a better definition of cartoon I will give it to you. " simple exagerrated drawings with simple plots that are animated." Also since when was anime a contriversy? It only is to those that let it, what you are butthurt about that people are rethinking things. More over you are mad you don't have a good argument, no evidnce just an opinion with adhominem attacks. Comics are cartoons, they are exagerrated with simple plots such as cartoons. Anime isn't it falls under the subset of animation, like 3d animation, claymation, etc. Again you don't want to argue you just want to be right and play the victim game.
*cartoons are not synonimus with animation. Again this whole I am right bullshit is stupid. Again, its youtube what did I expect? "The sky is actually blue." "No its green, like I said."
Fwiw, the original Greek spelling was Ouranos, and pronounced OO-rah-NOSS. The proper Latin pronunciation is supposed to be OO-rah-NOOS. Either way is so much better than your-ANUS or URINE-us!
No, but they are clearly very similar. Their respective TV shows were also made by the same animation company, TMS. 3.bp.blogspot.com/-U4XFz6vBX1E/WWTTUX18isI/AAAAAAAAGR0/z3YAU3nEbuYNgXT7ScDVhpGm23kCl3syQCLcBGAs/s1600/difference2.jpg
from what i had read the people that made godmars sued the might orbots people for copy right infringement and won the case. not sure if that's true or not tho.
I need help identifying a robot. I bought a toy at the flea market . Its grey and sorta looks like tf omega supreme but its not a tf. The toy can seperate into 2 pieces leaving the legs that look like wheels to a tankand the other part turns into an orange egyptian bird. Please help me if you can
Sadly Peaugh, you were mistaken this time around T_T Footage from the "God Mars" Anime was not used on the "Mighty Orbots" episodes as you mentioned. It's all stated on Wikipedia... "...The series lasted only a single season of thirteen episodes, mostly due to a lawsuit between the show's creators and toymaker Tonka, who accused them of basing the cartoon on their GoBots franchise (which was adapted from Bandai's Machine Robo line). The robot depicted in the show was virtually identical to the robot in the anime for Bandai's Godmars toy, although the colors were changed. However, the Godmars toy was not among the Bandai figures utilized by the GoBots line...." And here's the actual Orbots & God Mars intros for comparison: Orbots -> watch?v=an5VfHRSmnY God Mars -> watch?v=fC3oQoA4yTU As you can see the two are totally different cartoons. Also, I'm not sure if you're aware of the series, but God Mars' sword looks a lot like Voltes V's sword. By the way as usual, LOVE your hands
All I know about God mars is: IT HAS AN AWESOME THEM SONG! And... It uh... Showed up in uh... Uh... Super robot wars Z2 & 3... Oh, and based on that, the animation is pretty bad
@@davidsattgast4059 what he meant by that comment is that the Original God Mars show didn't have that great of a budget to do actual animation with so it would do stuff like zoom into an image 3 times
