We will never kniw what happened in that breakup, but remember that Iggor (Max's own brother) remained in Sepultura for years without any problem. For me, that says a lot.

Andreas, Paulo, wanted different management, & more control. When that wasn't acceptable, name calling etc went down. That was the end. Sepultura is now a bastard band, no one original in the lineup.
@@TheNewbiedrummer In the good old days Paulo was more like a live musician than a real member. Roots was his first composition with the bass. The bass lines off the past ones was made by Andreas and Max.
When Max left the band, that was it for me.... haven't went back since. However, if the original line-up went on tour, you could bet your ass I'd be there.

Max made me happy on this four and so minutes of the video. He wants a reunion and do old Sepultura songs, because they are the best ones he says. Willing to put things that separated the band behind and do a reunion tour. I guess is up to Andreas. Please Andreas accept and go on in life. the reason andreas don't want gloria is because she messed with the band finances before, she stoll from the band and that as the reason max leaft the band because she was sack as a manager and he said if she goes i go ,that is the reason why andreas doesnt want nothing to do with gloria she destroid the band, and looks like will never be a reunion until max stopping involving he's wife with sepultura .

I’am so proud to say that i got to see the original “Sepultura” in 1997 in Hamilton,Ontario,Canada at “Copps Coliseum” which is a hockey arena that holds approximately 17,000 people. It was an epic show with Sepultura - Danzig & Ozzy Osborne. All three bands kicked ass but Sepultura went on first & let me tell you they fu€king killed it big time! Sepultura I think made Danzig a bit nervous with how much the crowd loved them & this was the tour for their arguably best & biggest album with “Roots Bloody Roots” album. I was only 20yrs old at the time & 3 of my buddies & i went in my old 1984 Ford SVO Turbo Mustang.

I'm a Sepultura fan, both past and present. A reunion would be cool and all but it's much easier said than done. I am of the belief that Andreas refused to do it because Sepultura continued without Max a long time ago. It would be unfair to Derrick and Eloy and obviously Andreas and Paulo aren't prepared to undo all their hard work, and rightly so. Perhaps in the distant future we might see a reunion.
i grew up on sepultura on my teen days. i still listen to them and soulfly . i saw soulfly in wolverhampten 2003 i think and it was legendary and saw them at donington the next year . my point being i do not only have sepultura and soulfly logos tattoed on me but it is also branded on my soul . god bless them both
The only time I was ever scared in a mosh - Festival Hall, Brisbane Chaos A.D. tour... Opening with Refuse/Resist - Territory - Arise, and played at what seemed like double tempo it was brutal and over in a flash, bodies flying everywhere, arms legs and heads crashing overhead from crowd surfers. I was against the front barrier right under Max and it was absolutely unreal. Great memory.
Sepultura without the Cavalera brothers is fuckin garbage. This is a fact. I respect the current members for *TRYING*, but it simply is not the same. While they may be talented musicians in their own right, they do not deserve to carry the 'Sepultura' name. I sit back and think of '96, because after Roots, it all went downhill. It's strange how this situation is almost identical to Pantera's.
Bro,I lost all hopes after Iggor left :( Even if Max wasnt there, he did make some really fucking good drum tracks to keep the Sepultribe vibe! But once he left after the Dante XXI record, I never felt Sepultura is the same. I can easily recognize the song with his classic beats but now its like shit :( Im glad CC is still together and waiting for the 3rd record to come soon :D
I don't understand how Andreas can have so much authority in this band when he isn't even a founding member. Paulo should be the leader since he's the only founding member left.

When Max's step son Dana died and Andreas' wife was busy trying to bury him BEFORE Max and Gloria made it back from Donington, was the last straw for Max. He left shortly after. I think he did just fine during and after the formation of Soulfly. As he continues to do now. I think you need to research the facts and not believe everything you read. Being Brazilian means nothing, you can still be wrong and you are. Please check your facts.

Max wasn't close to the band, he was in a diffrent tour bus and didn't hanging out with the band, for the manager it's all about Max that's the main reason, he left his own brother who stayed in the band and continued to keep distance until Iggor called him. Check it out the first formation of Soulfly and the reason why those guys left, even the cover of the debut it's just him. That guy it's a legend here, everything about metal talks about them so I've heard and read it a lot! Just check it out Max (vovô) playing live this days it makes everyone sad, he's really bad and in those albums there's nothing new just the same old shit. I read an interview with Max about the current lineup of Sepultura and he basically said that he doesn't care for what that band has become now since neither he nor Igor are in the band anymore. He even said it would be like Megadeth continuing on without Dave Mustaine and David Ellefson. I don't blame Max for leaving Sepultura because of the way they treated him and Gloria after Dana was killed.
Good comparison. I've listened to Sepultura since 1990-1991 and couldn't tell you a song name or album past Roots. Nothing against Derrick Green. I'm sure he gives his all but him, and whomever their current drummer is, don't capture the same energy or sound Sepultura had. They should just form a new band.
We saw Chaos A.D. tour in Brisbane and it's still the only time I can remember being actually scared in the mosh. That band, that lineup, that moment in time, was terrifyingly good. I liked Roots, loved Roots, but that's where it stopped for me. We went and saw them on the next tour and that organic power was missing. That's all Max. Saw Soulfy on their first tour, they slayed. I'm happy with my memories, I'd be just as happy for Max to never open himself up to that potential heartbreak and stab in the back ever again.
Max has no problem with throwing out his bandmates in Soulfly as if they're trash. He doesn't give a shit about them. It may seem confusing to Max that Andreas Kisser doesn't have the mentality of discarding bandmates like they are trash. Doing a reunion would mean Andreas and Paulo would have to do just that for money. Max gives completely different stories of why he left Sepultura when interviewed. Max has gotten lucky to be able to ride off the coattails of Jairo T, Andreas Kisser, and Marc Rizzo

A few months back I saw the cover band that is going by the name Sepultura, and this past Saturday 10-7-17 I saw Soulfly perform the Nailbomb album Point Blank. The joke that is currently calling themselves Sepultura would have been blown off the stage by the performance that Soulfly did on Point Blank. As the Soulfly show ended Max stage dove right into the crowd!!!!
Nahh..Max looked like he needs an airtank while performing live the last time i saw him before this covid. Couldnt even remember his own lyrics and barely plays his guitar parts. Used to be a big fan of his. That was a let down.
2020 and still waiting. I think it’s safe to say this will never happen. Luckily I go to see max and Igor last year playing mainly songs from btr and arise. Max and Igor should just do a full Sepultura tour with Marc and Johnny with them
If one of Max and Andreas has a clear mind and knows what he's doing, it's Andreas. Just look at hw differently they aged over the years. Yeah, Max created something fantastic when he founded Sepultura, but his time is over now. He should get over it (after 25 years)

You really believe that Igor, his blood brother would still in the band for 10 years, if all this funeral talk really happened the way they say? 20 years later Sepultura still stronger than ever, creating great albums, filling arenas... And my guy Max, nowadays almost voiceless, with works and songs bordering the mediocrity. Any Max fans don't get me wrong, I am a hardcore Sepultura fan since 94 and I loved that era, but is what it is, no one can change the past, just be better in the present.
To my mind, and having the chance to have met Max and Gloria, I'm going to give my opinion about this story. First of all, you guys talk about Dana's death as a collateral event, when losing a close relative in those circumstances was and will always be pretty hard to overcome, so be more carefullly, because for Max and Gloria that was a horrible moment. Secondly, the 3 egos of the band became so big, especially when Andreas and Iggor felt Max was becoming the spotlight of the band, and that was one of the causes I think motivated him to leave, after his wife was kicked-out. Yes, Max thought he was "the band", and he could carry-on without his brother, so I am not going to deny that, and that was a wrong move for both brothers, but luckily, but decided to "bury the hatchet" and leave those mistakes in the past. After Max left Sepultura, Soulfly released 3 records way better than anything Sepultura did until Dante XXI, cos' Max a clear vision of what he wanted for his band, whereas Igor and Kisser were struggling to keep the legacy alive, and finding the best person to fit. You just don't know what was the vision of Kisser in the first 3 records of Sepultura, they did not want to go either thrash or death, they did not know if it was necessarty to add another guitar, and Derrick Green, even though he is a decent vocalist and I assume a very cool guy, he has a vocal style that fit with Nu metal songs, but not with the "holiest legacy" of the first Sepultura records. With the name, Kisser found a way to create more progressive records, giving some interested ideas, while Max got stucked and he went out of shape, but the fact that now, Kisser can perform more decent versions of some Sepultura songs, doesn't entitle him to believe he is Sepultura. And let's face it neither Max's projects, (Soulfly, CC) nor Kisser project (Sepulkisser) have achieved anything as close, and great as it was Sepultura, Andreas Kisser keep pushing the envelope, using a name, when this band, even though is interesting, has nothing to do with Sepultura, you do not see Dave Grohl playig Nirvana songs with the FF, Max and Kisser should leave that in the past.
Well, Sepultura isn't "stronger than ever", they just continue in work. But they're not as popular as in 90's. This band just still plays old songs that Max wrote, because nobody cares about their new stuff. They should change they name and leave Sepultura in the past. Because they versions of old Sepultura songs are just horrible. Honestly, it's dying cover band, that destroyed what Max, Andreas, Igor And Paulo created.
Max is the best. What a great human being. They should definitely make a WORL TOUR again reunited. The would tech the world forgiveness and reunion even if they have issues of beef they haven't dealt with,

No, he isn't. Sepultura was founded by Igor and Max. Their very first show was Igor on drums, Max on guitar and Wagner Antichrist (later of Sarcofago) on vocals.

And Max won't be as great without Andreas. But I can understand, why Andreas doesn't want a reunion: just look at live performances of the last 10 years. "New" Sepultura aged great together (tbf, Eloy is in his early 30s) whereas May got more and more fat, shows barely any passion for his songs during live performances and just seems to be very tired. Andreas certainly chose the less commercial way for Sepultura, and tbh, in my opinion, that's the best which could have happened to the band.

max was my hero growing up, no doubt. after he left Sepultura yes i got into Soulfly and loved Nailbomb but that was short lived i still consider the Sepultura of TODAY to be my favorite band. Kairos IMO is better than any soulfly or cavalera conspiracy album...derrick is fucking awesome and better not leave that band. im sick of hearing ppl whine about it, Max thinks hes better than everybody. the very essence of this band still exists without him period. NO FUCKING REUNION

Wow. I never knew Max and Andreas' relationship was THAT bad. That was a very fucked up thing to do if Andreas' wife really did that. Props to Max. We can see here that Max had good intention to mend their relationship and perhaps continue the legacy of Sepultura, who knows what might've happened. Too bad. Max should've disbanded Sepultura instead of leaving IMO, so when he did want to bring Sepultura back in action he could've just did it without needing Andreas' consent.

Sepultura always was trendy- with their early artwork they were a good thrashmetal band, up to Arise then they changed to do something else. Chaos AD came out and is was even more experimental. This extravaganza has its prime with Roots album. I`m against using genres so I won`t use any. Last albums were excentric. Cavalera brothers gone their way and came Derrick Green and Dolabella and they created A- Lex. Mentioned album was music commentary of "Mechanic Orange" book. Album itself related to art, anti-violence and hopeless situation book hero was into. That record is badass and beutiful. NEW, BETTER SEPULTURA showed they can be heavy, sing about something interesting, create heavy metal which can also be art and experiment, like Sepultura always did. If you don`t like their new path then stick with CC, stop talking shit about Sepultura and make a world a better place.

Not hating at all on Maxs' wife at all, we were never there. I truly believe though romantic partners should be kept out of business, financial, artistic things and especially between men. There are reasons why so many successful cultures separate the genders in different settings. It is like the whole water and oil thing. No matter how much one wants to believe and prove it will work, it keeps eroding at you and backfiring over and over again. There maybe were things with her personality that got in the way of the other guys and Max being a band and Max couldn't or wouldn't see it. Because now he is first a husband and than a band member anf that affects every single aspect of four male band members trying to deal with the various efforts of building a legacy.
Let's not forget that Max has not forgiven Andreas in regards to funeral arrangements for Dana. I love this band, I have a giant sepultura S tattooed on my leg., I am still living in hope for a special reunion at some point
i dont understand, what exactly was done?? did they call up the morgue and say "Hey bury this kid even though i cant have any legal authority over it" or did she try to steal the body and grab a shovel and do it herself? idk thats one of those thing you need to explain in more detail it cant be that simple of a situation
@artmutt26 You are right about the old songs performed with the new Sepultura lineup - yes, they sound tiny and lifeless without Max, but that's because they are his songs. Are you sure Max can deal with Derrick's songs anyway better? I still get goosebumps watching Donington 1994 or the live in Spain 1996 for example. I love old Sepultura. So much energy and power... But I like the new Sepultura too. Btw critics and especially sales are not criteria for good music, should I give examples?
