Audioscience-review measured both speakers frequency responses, where the Meta was almost flatline and the 'old' LS50's not so much. Nice to hear a comparison between these icons. 👍
I agree have the originals and for my ears the meta is not better only very expensive one. But maby it dipense of the gerne music a guess but that more price ??no way.
The original is brighter, but I prefer the sweeter, warmer, richer midrange and more natural sound of the Meta. The midrange on the original sounds more distant and somewhat nasal to me
He'll no, the only reason why the ls series exists is to revisiting and reboot the new Uni Uni q patents to Jef still has it where it matters . The metas only exist because ird be stupid to suddenly stop selling their most popular cabinet designs ever. The classic and new Ls series will always draw you in with the rich sultry seductively expression vocals. The metas sound exactly like the R series. Beytween the ls50s that are designed to capture vocals better than any other, and the metas which is essentially kef knocking off their own can I net design and just making a typical kef. Of course only be better off either the r series book shelves.
I would say the first song is better with the meta, the second with the old one. It depends on the musical genre. The meta is more precise, but that doesn't always help.
I own kef blades non meta I could pick out which was playing before the reveal which was meta and which was the non meta the non meta sounds better to me
Forget which is which which I guess was good.. A sounds a lot better than b. I hope the b isn't the metaa..... But I'm glad, the A sound much better open and more cohesive than the Bs which sound like they're congested. If As are the metaa than fantastic job drawing out the weaknesses of the Bs. I just did some research until the metaa versus the ls50 and found the issue I think. The ls50 were meant to be kefs opportunity to themselves from scratch kind of... The 3001/SEs gave kef the chance to perfect the LS3 5as in a modern from factor. The Ls50 cabinets were voiced to match the 3001SE center with eerie precision. 2 Ls50 in stereo produce a phantom center that sounds identical to the 3001SE playing in mono and after 6 revisions leasing to a hardware lottery aimed at the HT and casuals market later on with the HT system dropping the custom seemingly randomly over over engineered center with its completely sealed hemispherical chassis, one if a kind drivers unique only to that iteration with a rasor flat on axis response curve since its was expected that the 3001SE could not only have its feet bolted on as a wall mount or fit completely invisibly in a cubby where it's sealed designed shined and the unit performed like an open baffle design. While the R100s were stepping stones to the LS50Ws, bi Amp capable and all then blipped out of existence as soon as they ported their way into the Ls50 cabinet. The the the 300X/se/ later retroactively called an egg series even though the egg series has not changed all but just to keep up since its inception as upcycled Celestion AVPs. The egg series still exists and fathers than spearheading tech, it's a product of trickle down tech, the 1001s, a mini IQ/XQ as you can see by the original 2001 to its later generations which fit right in with the IQ9Xs or the XQ4xs even esthetically, going from silk and painted poly woofers and tweeters to perfecting the profile to yield the fully titanium coated variant. The 3001 started off with a question: now that it's been 30 years after our uni q patent lapsed how could be used everything we learned since there including our new tangerine waveguide IP? The perfect most price conscious way would be to take the top of the 208 reference and do as we said we would with the XQ10: revivify the to bring the inspiration behind probobably a discovery as important vanishing lines: prat and our unique evolution making us more sensitive to the sound of the human voice than anything else. With the LS5 3A, when kef was just a baby, they were commissioned to produce the best video vocal monitor at the time possible and from there they as well as even Arnie God father of ribbon and electromagnet tweeters took notice and begin to realize that just like any other art from I. E. Writing where an orange is an apple due to its stem and crown, then color comes. Once the LS3s proved what became obvious in retrospect: nail the mid 350k- about 3k with sibiliance reaching higher into 8k, tune that range and the rest will indeed fall into place. This is what have the British sound so much character and even allowed for great vocalists to shine like Sir Elton, Armstrong, John Lennon, Tom Jones, all baritones in a age tenors were and still are the most common voice. Ian Curtis, David Bowing. All would be impossible if it we went back to the pop days of Frankie Valley. From there kef further refined the human voice and frankly speaking they have the secret sauce that even Andrew Jones, a Co inventor of the original uni q couldn't master. I would credit the team which in sure deserve all the praise, but Jack O Brown seems especially forthright and it's gratifying to see his team help me out and confirm my own sleathing years laters. Still own 4 sets or the 3001SE, from the initial prototype to where it stunningly sounds like a bookshelf version to the. Blades granted you pair them with stereo subs with tighter more cohesive upper mid bass taking over for the LS50s at 300hz on up (the blades do indeed play down to 350hz before crossing over but the you really hear no drawbacks when the twin subs play 300hz in up and the 3001SE are the last of the kefs due to r and r that play all the way clear up to 60khz +-3db, using the same technology trickled down from the XQ4xs and the 208s. (there have been studies every year published about the effect if a brick wall filter versus even simply in phase pink noise allowed to roll off much more naturally at 60khz. Even ECGs before the participant notices already induces a positive effect. Sadly, the new LS50s top off at 35 and even the blade tops off at 45. The brick wall filter hits hardest during crescendos or a loud explosion with missing pockets out of no where. Niagara falls is about the same volume as a fire cracker, if it weren't for the fuller range. The natural roll off above the cut off that should be shallower and much higher blends in much more naturally when the speaker is capable. If you plan on getting the new eggs be adviced they are an after thought. I own them all but still much pretty would never hold a candle to the 3001SE, my IQ90s (modded) and by LS50s. Sorry if this offends you kef, I'll reword it its oversight but
I don't like either speaker. Kef have gone downhill since the reference model 3 series in the 90s. Kef and b&w used to be my favourite speakers in the 90's, ☹️
@@Gadgetdad007 both in reality and in dreams, the choice will be on the Ls50 side, because it has more pronounced high frequencies for a significantly lower price. The Ls 50 Meta is an amazing speaker and more expensive.
LS50 Meta is a lot better, the vocals are more natural and also much clearer, on the original LS50 you can hear more sss sounds which is sibilance. To be honest the original LS50 has thin mids and also uncomfortable treble
The vocals tweaked over the course of 30 years then another 10 years to the nail the human voice and you can hear it... As vocals become no more and more synthetic the meta might have n artificial edge but its sound is very very contemporary
I listened to this comparison playing them through my ls50s. to me they sound the same?! i guess the youtube compression is too strong to hear the difference
