Cedric's mission in life is to make people aware of the power of sound and the impact on our society. If the sounds we produce aren’t better than silence, it’s noise. But it all starts with doing more than just hearing… Born in 1987, Cedric started his musical career around the turn of the century. Hermanos Inglesos was born. An album followed on PIAS, which led to a signing with Sony Music.Cedric's parents always had been most supportive of his choices, but his father insisted he'd have a back up plan ready. So while working on music, Cedric went to Law school and specialised in Copyright Law. In 2011 he started his adventure in London with two goals: learning as much as possible at SAE/Middlesex University and inhaling the inspiring power of the Thames' shores. More than ever Cedric realised that he wanted to continue in sound. And he did. Back in Belgium, he founded Roundhouse to focus on ’Sonic Branding’ as a true pioneer. Last year Cedric partnered up to take this story to the next level, a new chapter under a new name: Sonhouse works on the development of sound identities for film and brands in an international context. This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community. Learn more at www.ted.com/tedx

Sometimes the absence of sound is best! Nature and not the noises of society are what I seek.

It's possible that language has an influence on how we relate Kiki and Bouba to the corresponding images. For example, if English was not my first language, I might relate Kiki to the blobby one and Bouba to the pointy one. Buuuut since I'm not an expert on anything I'm just gonna leave my thoughts here.

My great-grandfather was cut in half on his job as a brakeman by the coupling of two railroad cars. It took him 30 minutes to bleed out. This has not inspired me to create better cargo transfer systems.

@@archenema6792 I did watch from the beginning. I just don't see the need for you to point out that you're not inspired to make improvements to a system that killed one of your family members, as if there's something wrong with the speaker for being inspired to do so. Like, why point that out about yourself? It just shows he's more valuable to humanity as a whole than you are
@archenema6792
@archenema6792 5 лет назад
@@erheaflower4318 Something is wrong with the way the natural world makes sounds and the artificial sounds some people like to hear or chose to signify events? Not at all, and that was point. We could reduce railroad deaths to zero, but at the cost of quadrupling transport cost. You, like this presenter and those who indulge him, need to grow up.

The reason it took him 30 min. to bleed out was because he was instantly deceased. His heart was not beating, or he would have pumped out from that massive trauma in less than 120 seconds. His severed trunk arteries spasmed closed instantly, and any further drainage then was caused simply by gravity as soon as those vessels relaxed with brain death. We often see this effect w/massive trauma in the trunk structure. J. Hart MD-BC Surgeon, Westmorland Trauma Center

Takes too long to get to the point. Like a car salesman that goes on and on as he tries to justify why he's selling a car for $30,000 over sticker!
