So many beautiful phrases here. Really like "selective focus" and "heightened reality". Things that most people hear, fewer notice, and even fewer can articulate in-depth.

I like his mental workflow, considered, intuitive, layered & detailed, particular & all in all, clever because he puts his full mind & work ethic to it. I wanna be like this though I’m focused more on the music while collecting sounds for the designer so to weave the works together. I like how his brain works

Wow after all those movies, i never actually noticed gun sounds were tuned to the people fireing them, wether good guy or villain !.. I'll pay more attention next time ! I guess its more obvious in 90s movies haha !..

I've heard some really awfull mixing in films where the gunfire is only as loud as the dialog. Gunfire should always be the loudest thing in the scene besides a explosion or if the narrative /direction demands that it's more subdued (like a slow motion moment for example) Guns are loud. Really loud. I dont think people who have never stood near one going off or fired one themselves, understands how loud they are. Imagine someone hitting a drum snare as hard as they can, guns are about twice as loud as that. (technically three or four times as loud but our ears doesnt percieve them as that because our ears have a built in "limiter" where it can only take a certain amount of noise before they take damage.)

The only sound of a gun that should be quieter than the dialogue is that of a 22lr. But even in that instance, a 22lr still has some heft to it.
