Thank you for the kind words sir and I'm glad you found it informative. May the sun never stop shining on your part of the world. Have a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.
I just did this yesterday to my wife’s 2021 XLE. Amazon says these don’t fit. But they do. Plug and play. Literally a 15 minute project. Took me almost 30 minutes because I took the time to clean everything under there while I had the cover off. Best 20 bucks you can spend on any RAV4! 👍
Good to hear that. Yeah..that's the thing sometimes with Amazon. At times it will say "Does not fit your vehicle"...but the only way to really know is to actually give it a shot and see if it works or not. Take care and stay safe.
I bought the horn set on Amazon and just installed them yesterday. It took about 20 minutes. The hardest part was installing the bottom Bolt on the Latch spring assembly (I have 3 on my 2020 XLE. Mine bolts were all 10 MM. so easy to do, thank you for the video.
Anytime. Got alot more down the pipeline like the Hood Struts and Android box to replace or add on to the generic infotainment system. Take care and Stay safe. JT
Really love all your videos. Random question, have you changed the coolant on your car? My RAV4 hybrid is turning 5 and I want to DIY the coolant drain and flush but haven’t found a good video showing the process for a hybrid RAV4 specifically.
A big congratulations to you!👍👍👍👍👍👍 Any other "additions" you will make on yours? Let me know if you run into any problems. Take care and stay safe. JT
Just bought a 2024 a couple weeks ago and I used the horn for the first time today (when someone cut me off) and I was embarrassed by the weak horn! Lol!
Man...that's bad. Did he Brake check you? If he did...the horn did the job. Guess you can always go back to the Old OEM Road Runner horn. Wonder if I can hook it up to an amplifier?
@@jt2quick No, he (nissan sentra) didn't brake check me. He was on my right and flew in front of me to get into the left turning lane as we were very close to the intersection. I just bought it (because of your video) so I can let confirm in a few days if it fits.
Thanks for the vid but the tricky part is the orientation of them, which one goes to which side and how to get some of the tighter stock wire connectors to reach to connect.
Hey buddy, you are quite correct. I should have focused a little bit more on that. One of the people did mention that due to the orientation, the wire was just a little bit short. His recommendation was to "Disconnect or separate" where the wire was connected to the vehicle body (basically where you see the white or black plastic clip holding it in place) this allowed for just enough wire lengthening to help attach it to the horn. Then he just found a suitable enough place to secure it with some zip ties. So if you run into this problem... try that solution. Thanks for watching.
Yeah..I just noticed that about your channel. Isn't this PRIME..just the BEST?? This is one super efficient vehicle in my humble opinion. Just curious...How'd you been doing on just your EV mileage range?
@@The.Garage.Studio That's still pretty good. Heck anything over 40 miles just on EV alone is good especially with you lugging that stuff around on the Ponderosa. Some guy up in Canada was averaging like 38EV miles. Maybe the hills up there... not sure.
Great vid! Nice work. Thank you for the insights. Installing mine next week! Surprised by how quick and simple this is! Would’ve done this months ago had I realized this haha 😂
Thanks, buddy. Glad you found it useful. Gonna do one on an android box later. I just have a plain generic infotainment system. Take care and stay safe.
Installed on my 2022 rav 4 hybrid limited. Very easy to do. Max 30 mins. I did cut some electrical tape to give the wires some more slack but not mandatory. I just didn't want to deal with wires coming loose over the years as without cutting there was a lot of tension.
Good to hear that Kevin. Seems that some do encounter a tighter tension on the wire and some don't. Never really could figure out why Toyota decided to put a pip-squeak horn on this fabulous vehicle.
Hey Jet.....You can see the horns only if you really "Look" directly in front as they blend in with the front grille, plus the radiator background is helping it. Look at the OEM horns on your Prime, that is basically the same color and will give you an idea, how it would stand out. If you paint the for example "RED" like some people do with their brake calipers and assembly. It will really stand out. Hope that helps you out. Take care and stay safe. JT
Hey buddy...thank you. I see you like the great outdoors...Cool. I'm hoping someone will do a video on Nerf Bars or Bull bars for the Prime...but I doubt it due to the big battery underneath. I'd like to replace my front grille with a Tacoma type look. Have to see about that one. Take care and stay safe.
@@jt2quick I had no idea what nerf bars or bull bars we're. Just looked them up. Yeah.. that would be very cool!! Yeah.. i'm moving my rav4 prime content slowly to my cars and creators channel so I can focus the goldenk9 channel on camping. Getting an aliner camper soon, so that will also be a focus for the K9 channel.
@@GoldenK9Campers Okay...gotcha.... I only have one and just really started. Watched your Prime Owner's review...Well Done. I like your XSE. Surprised you didn't have it "Tinted" darker..with the scorching Arizona heat. I tell ya, here in Oklahoma ...it sure does make a difference.
@@jt2quick I'm just experimenting with the different channels and content to see what people like. At some point i'll get more focused.. but I have a lot of interests and a lot of time (retired). I had planned on playing golf all the time, but medical issues changed that plan.. so now i'm doing this!! For sure.. i'm getting the windows tinted.. Just trying to find a good shop to do it.
Hey Buddy...Absolutely NOT... just took out the old wabbit horns, and plugged these ones on. Hardest part really if getting to the horns and making sure you have enough slack for the wires. That's it. good luck to ya...let me know how it goes.
@@jt2quick Thank you for replying regarding horn relay. Just one other question please, one horn is 500 Hz and other one is 400 Hz, does it matter which one goes on left side or right side. I would assume the 500 Hz is louder.
@@user-io6fd3zr3o hey buddy, regarding which is louder, I believe that 400hz just a lower bass sounding vs a higher 500hz, but you probably won't be able to tell the difference anyways. and now whether which goes on left or right. Honestly from when I installed, it fitting fine and I didn't have to make any sort of choice, but even if you switch them, they will not get damaged in anyway, plug them in and see if they work, and they probably will, but if not, simply just switch them to the other side. when you're done...Post it here..for Everyone to see and read...I always say....best to share experience and knowledge...for everyone's benefits. Take care.
@@jt2quick I got my horns installed , they work great. I had to turn the connecters on horns to face down so the wires would reach. But all good. Thank you again for all your information and video.
Great video buddy. I’m thinking of getting the hella horns. I was wondering if you are still using them and happy with them. Some people where telling me to use the PIAA but they cost more. Thank you for any advice and help
Hey Felix, yes sir. Still using them, no problems at all, sounds great and very happy with them. I was thinking about the PIAA myself, but when I researched...to my ears, they kind of sounded the same and so I went with the these, and I do not regret it. Take care and stay safe.
Hey Buddy, NOT at all. Still working like it's the OEM version. No hiccups, no blown fuses, no Ghostbusters electrical issues in any way. Heck, I've got a mind to try out one of those Big-Kahuna 18 Wheeler Truck horns, but might end up shorting everything out if I wire it incorrectly as other type horns require separate power supply for it.
Strange, did not work on my 2024 RAV4 Hybrid XLE, no sound. The passenger side is 1-cable on the wiring harness, so had it mounted for ground. Still did not work.
So you mean...that the connectors...are different from the ones on the video here? You mentioned passenger side is 1 cable and the driver side? I would have assumed they would be like twins...looking the same in regards to the connectors. Try this...Switch the horns from left to the right and see if that works.
@@jt2quick Sorry, i never got notified that you responded. Yes, passenger side is 1-cable & driver side is 2-cable. I tried switching the horns, left to right .. Hellas didnt work.
@@abhijitdasz Hey...no apologies needed... I know that we all busy with life and other matters. And with that in mind. Since you tried the same thing I would have done. And you know for a fact that the wiring itself is good as the old horns works, then the only thing I can assume is that the horns themselves...are most likely the issue and might be defective. That's the only conclusion I can come up with since ...either one goes on the left and the other on the right. NOW....I do not know if you can still return them or not. If you can, great. Purchase another set from another seller if possible and give that a shot....see if it works. Like most any products, that are mass produced, you could have possibly ended up with a lemon. Hope that helps. take care and stay safe.
It's called a ACDelco ARW1209P G12 Series 12V Li-ion Cordless 3/8” 45 ft-lbs. Ratchet Wrench Tool Kit. Here's the link to the Amazon website for $70. Sure does come in handy especially in tight places. There's plenty out there like this so it's just a matter of your preference as they basically do the same, just different prlces and manufacturers so take your pick. Lowest price I've seen is $45. Take care and stay safe.
Thank you for the video. I have a 2023 RAV4 hybrid and it was an easy swap… however, the wire harness is a bit short and there is a lot of stress on the wires. Is there an extension that can be plugged into the wire harness to relieve the stress?
Hey buddy... no there is no extension. And you'll probably not need one. Some people have... ran into that issue. Relieve the stress by either loosening the pressure at the point of contact where the harness is secured to the engine body, or flipping the horn . That's what a few of the people here did. By loosening the point of contact at the engine body you'll have a little more slack. Then secure the wire with regular zip ties to nearest point of contact
@@herbveitenhans3285 Yes...just check it now and then to make sure the zip ties or any other part of the wiring doesn't come loose or it looks like it might catch on something. That's all.
Hey JT.. tried to do this today. I ran into some problems. I'm assuming the orientation for the horns is that the trumpet/horn faces down. I'm also assuming the orientation is the trumpet part that faces downwards.. the one on the drivers side has the trumpet on the far right (as i'm installing), and the opposite orientation on the passenger side? That's the way the diagram shows them? Also.. for the drivers side.. I can't get the wiring harness to reach to the connector on the horn. The wiring assuming the connector is on the but the connector is on the right side of the horn (when facing it).. which I think is fine for the passenger side.. but the driver side.. It doesn't quite reach? Did you have that issue? How did you resolve. Was so looking forward to getting these working.. argh..
Hey buddy, the orientation you mentioned sounds correct. Yes trumpets facing down, correct. It's a direct replacement with no additional wiring or anything needed. See at the 5:25 mark of the video where I pulled out the OEM wires and then at the 6:21 mark where my left fingers are reaching for that "Long" mounting bracket (the one you got did have that same type bracket correct? And then at the 6:37 mark where after I mounted it, I just simply plugged the wires back in with a click. So.... if you are running into a problem with the wires doesn't quite reach, either the bracket is not long enough or the "Cabling of the original wires on your particular Prime is somewhat shortened for some reason. I can't really imagine how though. I know you have the XSE and I only have the SE model but they should both be the same. Suggestion: 1. Check out the bracket again; 2. Look at the wiring harness ROUTE, might be held down by simple plastic clips or ties and see if you can loosen them at some points or reroute it; 3. Might have to create just a "additional metal extension" somehow. Email me some pics of the area around your grille and horn and I'll check it out see what I can determine or find a solution. later, buddy
@@jt2quick Well.. I cut away a little of the tape that was binding it to the other wires and I was able to insert the harness into the connector. The horn sounds really good. Now to wrap the pedestrian warming horn thing..
@@The.Garage.Studio OOh...just the typical "Necessities" I have in the Prime for the Winter season in case the weather gets really nasty and such. Commonly used in the military by grunts for a specific mission. Not really needed in the Vegas and warmer type climates.
Hey Dan.. 95% sure that it will. Not a lot of differences except electronics inside and few outside between 2001 and 2003. Recommendation; take off the cowl, look and verify if the horn looks the same... then 99% sure... it will work. Take care and stay safe.
Hey, I've installed those hella horns on my rav4 prime but I've put those two horns in the opposite orientation when compared to the orientation that you've used for yours, Would that be a problem if I leave them like that?
Hey buddy.... I don't think it would be a problem. Since you've already done it and haven't experienced any problems so far. I know one guy said that the wiring harness was a little short due to the orientation of the horns. But you should be good to go or else you would already have experienced a problem. Take care and stay safe.
@@jt2quick In one of your videos I saw that you’ve installed a tail light bar on your Prime, what’s your review about that and could you please share a link for that product if you have one!
Hey Eduardo.... Nope no horn relay at all. Thinking of maybe trying another horn out. Like one of those massive Semi Truck horns, but that might be a little too overboard, plus for sure I'd have to tap into a new power source for that one.
Howdy...did you mean a demonstration of or sound test of the Horn? If so it is at the beginning at the 0:33 mark. Unless you are asking about something else? Let me know.
I missed that part, I went straight to the end of the video. No disrespect, but it still sounds like a rabbit with the new horn, I would install a stronger one.
@@truthseeker9527 Hey...no problem at all. I do that at times myself. As far as installing a stronger one. Yup...thought of that myself, of them 18 wheeler Truck horns. Only problem is, I'm not that electrically savvy to hook up to a separate power source. Still on the look out though for when someone...actually does. But hey.. at least it's a bit louder. Sounds more like a German Shepard now instead of the Chihuahua when it barks...hahahaha
Hey Buddy, I am about 90% pretty sure that it is. I say this because most of the 2021 and later years basic designs are the same, main difference naturally would be like entertainment system, more electronic gadgets, etc...but "Horns", I don't think Toyota would go out of their way just to change the basic horn designs and so I would say that it is compatible. My suggestion to you is take off the cover, take a look at your horn and harnesses. If they look pretty much the same, that would make it 98% rate of it being compatible. And naturally the 2%????? Buy one, slap it on there and see if it works and there's that missing 2%... . and If not...just make sure you buy from a seller with a good return policy. That's about it. Good luck to ya and let us know how it goes so everybody will know. Take care and stay safe.
I installed these on my 2024 RAV4 Hybrid XLE and it did not work. The harness & connector is the same, but no sound. I tried 2 different sets from Amazon.
