I think with the " busting the bank" version, you could get a custom shop 60's relic lefty Strat (or if you have lots of papers, original 60's Strat will do) and flip it , restring it, and also get a 60's Dunlop fuzz pedal, 60's Vox Wah, it will make you sounds absolutely like Hendrix. LOL
Buy all of Jimi Hendrix's original gear, buy Jimi's grave, dig him up, cut off his hands, have his hands re-animated and replace your own hands with his. Buy guitar lessons from somewhat close sounding music stars like John Mayer and exclusively play and learn Hendrix songs and techniques from them. With all of that stuff together, you'd 100% have the Hendrix tone.
+George Ray made from genuine fairy liquid bottles? Do you think Matt or Bea should "take one for the team" and shove their middle and ring fingers in an unforgiving machine? Also they gotta then play as a leftie too 😀
Love it when Rabea gets "lost" in the music, it's great to see him enjoying it so much, and watching his fingers on the fretboard was somehow eerie that the sound was so close to Jimmy.
Peoples obsession with Queen baffles me, like yeah, they made enough good songs to make 2 best of albums, but they never made a really good album, there's no "Disintergration" or "the queen is dead" in their catalog, i always ask people about their favorite queen album and almost everyone says they never listen to one front to back... i guess if you like big arenarock shows with big choruses and pyrotechnics it's great...
have you ever heard QUEEN II? A night at the opera ? , Queen is one of the ( if not THE) biggest bands in the world, any smiths , clash , album is miles and miles away from any Queen album ( technically) , you may like it or not , but you cannot deny that the fact that Queen is by far a great band
It's nice seeing a fellow small hand/short fingered guitarist become quite a good player. Every Little Wng tutorial on RU-vid shows a guy with SRV sized hands clutching a huge neck like a baseball bat and it's all thumbs and first finger voicing. The big haired chap with the name I can't remember but probably hinders him at the airport when trying to catch a flight, he plays some barre chords like I have to to pull that off (though I'm not yet quite able to manage it to that degree of proficiency). All that to say - small hands can still rip up a neck! I love all these videos, they're a great concept and I'm sure they help sell a bit of gear for Andertons, which is a great marketing idea.
SRV was a small guy too. His height was 165cm. His hands were not big either. Google "SRV hand size myth buster" and you will find that SRV's hands were smaller than average. His hand size is printed in cement at the Fargo walk of fame, so it can be proven that he did NOT have big hands. Strong hands yes, but big hands no.
Hectic Sceptic Weird! All the pictures of him I’ve seen his hands look giant. Same with Hendrix. Off topic, google a pic purported to be Robert Johnson. He has the longest fingers I’ve ever seen.
@@patrickbrazil3383 In every video and picture of SRV that I have seen, his hands look completely normal for a short, skinny, small man. Somehow the strange myth of him having gigantic hands was spread everywhere like some kind of crazy legend, but there is no proof. False information, rumours, and gossip all have a habit of spreading far and wide. People believe in all kinds of fake stuff nowadays. Robert Johnson looks like he has quite long, skinny fingers. He was a very skinny man, and a very skillful delta blues guitarist. Being skinny can also make one's fingers appear to be longer than they really are.
Mexican strat - tube screamer mini - BF Princeton reverb RI (cranked) - that'll get you pretty much as close as you can get at this price, and probably as close as you'll need to be in a bar/cover band setting.
if i were to try i'd try this squier vm surf strat (£336) marshall dsl15h (£419) peavey 1x12 cab (£119) fender super champ x2 combo (£369) ibanez mini tube screamer (£69) vox v847-a (£82) the rig would cost £1394 and i think it would come somewhat close to his sound. i went with the surf strat couse he used a strat with lipsitck pickups and the super champ becouse it has a lot of different vintage fender sounds build in. disclamer this is all speculation and i do not own any of this gear.
Bought the Fender Hendrix today because of you guys and all I can say is wow. Probably the best fender I have ever played. The neck feels fantastic and the pickups are kickass. I grabbed just a standard mini fuzz face as well but ordered the hendrix one online so I'm waiting for that. I'm running through a DSL15H through an Orange PPC112 and the tone is insane. Thanks a lot guys!
Ive always wondered how Motley Crue got the shout at the devil album tone. You guys do a great job and I have throughly enjoyed watching the sounds like videos. Keep up the great work.
He was probably still using his black LP custom during that time... And I know he used them for the Girls and Feelgood album but what was the brand new metal amp Marshall had released around that time? Good ol JCM800 So despite using Hamers and BC Riches in videos and live around that time, I'm sure it was mainly his Les Paul Custom into some 800's. Why spend time and money on different gear when you could use it on blow and heroine?
I love your videos because of the authenticity you approach them with. You guys seem like amazing players that love what you do. That said, this was BY FAR the best video I've seen you do. Keep up the good work, mates!
+Deividas Žilionis Break out a G & L Rampage with a Kahler Trem, a Bogner or Marshall Amp, and maybe throw in some delay, a compressor, and a wah!! And if you really wanna nail it, a talk box to do Nan in the Box!! Can it be done for £1,500??
I love how by the end that poor Marshall sounds like it's coming apart. And am I the only one who notices that Rabbea wiggles his jaw when he plays. Great video guys.
Not a chance, 3 ac30's running separate delay config and of course a red special for all the phasing and then being able to play delayed 3 part harmony's, the guy is a genius maybe 30k and you get close lol
Not that it's made anymore, but i just got the Vox Brian May recording amp that's designed off the Deacy - that (plugged through a couple of 1x10s and mic'd up well, with a phased-pickup guitar that cost £400) basically achieved Bohemian Rhapsody first time. Sub £1000, easily. The treble booster and phased pickups are 90% of the whole thing.
Now THERES an idea. Not because I really care how he gets his sound. Just because I want to see them do that. (And I wanna see if they include a bucket in the "rig" lol)
Fucking hell boys, that was just friggin' dope! I did not expect that close of a tone for that price. I don't think you could have nailed it more if you busted the bank and bought all high end stuff. I suppose most of that tone is from the guitarist, but the gear is spot on. Win.
You guys murdered this one. Especially tackling a Hendrix tone you guys nailed it in my opinion. The only thing.. I wish you guys would've tried to squeeze in a different guitar in the video just to see the difference between a Hendrix guitar and another strat. Besides that nailed it
All n all...I think you guys did a good job. Of course most of the Hendrix sound came from his blessed hands. The legend, the master and the greatest is still raining...still dreaming and will live on forever.
If you do green day I think it would be a good idea to assemble 2 rigs one for pre american idiot so a fender stratocaster and one for post american idiot so a Gibson les Paul (or lp Jr)
I've really enjoyed this series form Rab and Matt....Very informative and seem like a couple of regular guys....Except that they have the coolest job in the world with access to play whatever they want. I'm curious as to how much of their pay goes back into the shop to buying gear. Really enjoy the work guys.....
Some of hendrix's live performances were a bit crap, but hell, no one can play the guitar accurately when you look down and see a fucking snake for the guitar neck and a swirling audience of unicorns.... The studio recordings were some of the most amazing and influential songs ever though.
You guys said it yourself, "Can't be the artist". However I think you fellas did a fine job! The highlight for me was "Hey Joe". The mics don't do it justice for most.
He used a a 19080s explorer with EMG 81/85s through a krank amp for the first two albums, and the third paf voice pickups through his thunderhorse sig and a legacy amp.
I always enjoy these videos, but this one was my favorite. Hendrix is THE reason I play. You are quite humble Bea, but you crushed a 6 there, mate! Seriously, I'm getting off the net now to go play some git fiddle. Amazing tones man, for real. Cheers
