Billy Strings sits down with Ashvegas and Caleb Calhoun to answer a couple of questions and pick a few ditties ahead of his performance at the Orange Peel on Friday night.
Here's a try : quickenpicking I say humbly since there would have to be some visibillyity today and here forward to share it far and wide - next Webster's Dictionary out someday soon I wonder? Hey there just backtrack oh yeah... Visibillyity! (n) to have Billy Strings attached to the music media. Guessing that one is 40 times better. Whatcha say online commentators?
the snap and punch of his picked notes is amazing. His touch is brilliant. They say about guitar pickers: your left hand is what you know, and your right is who you are.
Cory talented, and also he has played guitar for 25 years and grew up with a father that was a very good guitar player also. So talent is just a small part of it.
Billy's talent is both spectacular and sublime. His ability to faithfully replicate Doc Watson and then springboard from there to a higher level is nothing short of miraculous. Without a doubt the finest acoustic guitarist working today...not to mention an outstanding vocalist.
I break into a smile 😊 every time this young genius starts to play !!! His Daddy deserves an award 🥇! Not sure how you raise a genius unless you have an Island of genius yourself! Billy Strings you are a gift from GOD!!!
I'm back again. I've watched this 10 thousand times. love it. I really enjoy Billy's singing. Oh yeah, and by the way 5:46 ;) RIP Doc Watosn - Keep pickin' Billy
Watching Billy play must be something to see. He can pick and good as he can sing. That guitar sounds amazing. I’m so glad these videos are around for us all to enjoy. Billy just keeps getting better and better. I saw a recent interview where Billy played a 1940 Martin D28. I checked with my local guitar center and that guitar cost around $70000. I don’t know if that is the guitar he uses here, but such a great performance. He can really play those Doc Watson songs.
Woot woot then woot again until the very occasion some bright fall evening to see Billy live once again. Also a compliment to the green screen lake view background visuals.
The first time I ever saw Billy I recognized the talent, and he's just got better as time has passed. Hope he keeps his head on his shoulders, and stays after it! He's as great a guy, as he is an awesome picker.
Geez I'm glad I decided to give country and bluegrass music a bit of look at recently, so many great artists with such a bright futures in front of them ...
Nice to hear Glenn Brown get the shout out he deserves! Little known factoid: Glenn was in a band during his college years with bass player Bill Laswell.
How did this guy score this interview...? Not paying attention...talking during Billy's performance....can't keep time whatsoever...and asks him to play dust in a baggie (him getting denied made me smile) show some respect. I wish was given this chance. I surely wouldn't have blown it like this dude did.
i love bluegrass and make no mistake Billy knows how to play more than just bluegrass he plays it all and can stand on the roots it dont get no better than that fact
Ol’ Bill kills murder ballads lol. I love how you can see the effect of such powerful music on the host. I couldn’t have stayed that calm. Ida been cheesin too, or maybe trying to hambone lol. Kudos and hugs!
ITS ALL ABOUT THE SOUND,the music, and loving it. Don't judge a book by its cover,( Tomboy Productions) !! 18 hrs ago. I don't have tattoos, but to each his own.
Adam Steffy is most likely the expert on this subject. He is using the term "primative" to describe it. I don't have the complete understanding of the harmonic relationships involved in modal music to explain it.
Watch his video playing in airport terminal ....ONE is listening. Go to walnut Valley festival alot of " Billy's" " Molly's " there. He's carrying the torch ( wonder if he plays 12 string?)
At 2:06 the host is talking on camera during the performance. Even if he was making production adjustments, extremely unprofessional and very rude to the guest star.
You must be a msuician too cuz i 100% agree with this, everytime i play a song to people or show a recording they talk through it and ask questions, i think since non musicians play they dont have the same respect as another musician when it comes to playing live
@Randall Swanson No, he kept both (D-MA and the Brazilian D-BA). And the No.1 of his Signature Series by Preston Thompson went to his dad! There is a nice Video...ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-VEt5MclYwoE.html
i have to disagree. i would put him right up there with Tony Rice, Glenn Campbell who is top of the heap too me.of course there is Sutton and many others i admire..
