If you're a person that grabs the stem to adjust fit, you can change the squeeze sensitivity for the controls in the Soundcore app. By default it is set at the most senstive.
I use them with gloves as an electrician on the most sensitive... They work really well but I'll probably make it less sensitive or something. At least it works through the gloves
Superbly honest review. I use the Liberty 3 Prio and just bought the Life P3 a couple weeks back. Must say I am completely satisfied with these 2 for sound quality, App Features and ANC. I suspect the Liberty 4 are a prequel model to the forthcoming Liberty 4 Pro. I understand the expansive lineup to meet all budget needs but feel they could put more focus on setting each set apart for a specified purpose. Thx again and keep these reviews coming forth!!
I've been using Life P3 last few month, good headphones, but honestly the call quality is not very good, the ANC as well. Those are the main reasons for me searching for a better headphones right now.
Good review. I just got the liberty 4 because I lost my l3p charging case. Overall I prefer the l4. L3p has more/better bass but i find the l4 has clearer and more upfront mids. Imagining and sound stage are pretty equal between the two. The reason I prefer the l4 is the fit is much better, better battery life, better controls and doesn't cut out for me.
@GearUP with Aaron I found my case for the liberty 3 pro. I'll be returning the liberty 4. Just not worth having both when the liberty 3 pro is fantastic. I feel like the liberty 4 is going for an analytical experience were as the l3p is much warmer.
Nice review. I appreciate your honesty with it too. When a brand pumps out as many models as Soundcore does, there are bound to be a few that don't hit the mark. That being said, I recently bought the Soundcore Life A3i's, which they really didn't market at all. I got them for $50 in Canada, and l love them! Great sound quality and decent NC and vocal transparency. At less than a third of the price of these, a no brainer! Thanks again for the review 🙂
Brand new sub here and I'll tell you why. It seems to me there are far too many reviewers that are afraid to speak the truth about products out of fear they may not be given more products from the manufacturer. Not you. This is the cold hard truth that I was looking for and I'm going to pass on these because what you say makes sense. I'll be more than happy to stick with my Liberty Air 2 Pro's and my Liberty 3 Pro's for music and my Space A40's for RU-vid and the like. (I find the sound quality lacking in these) Keep up with the honesty and I'm sure you'll hit 50k in no time. 👍
Wow, you've got a strong selection of Soundcores - noice! 👍 I try to keep it real for potential consumers. If you're spending a certain $$$ for something, I want you to know what you're getting into. Awesome username, btw!
The problem I continuously keep having with my liberty 3 Pros is that they keep cutting out when in LDAC which is as expected, but it was too much. I literally do everything with them expect workout in them, so please any opinions as what I should please let me know because I feel I have exhausted every solution. Should I get my money back and save up to get a top tier earbuds and also I'm not a Apple Person. I am also looking for workout earbuds that have solid and efficient ANC and Transparency mode, wireless charging and multipoint connection and of course has a very soild IP rating. I really love the liberty 3 Pro and I dont want to return them or maybe be I should get them replaced. Please let me know your suggestions and opinions and recommendations, I'd greatly appreciate it. I almost forgot I have Sennheiser true sports wireless earbuds but unfortunately the only issues I have them is that they don't have ANC and Transparency mode.
The one RU-vidr who I always go to for honest reviews is Flossy Carter. He never sugarcoats anything which is why so many people including myself regard him as one of the best tech reviewers.
Thanks Aaron. I'm really confused based on all the reviews here and online about the new Soundcore lineup. Some say the Space headsets and L4 are flatter, more balanced, some say the old Soundcore thump is still there. If this just means the default 'Soundcore Signature' EQ is different, fine. But if that sub bass thump is gone entirely, I'm out. I have Life P3, Liberty 3 Pro and Q35. Happy with all if them and they all THUMP 😁
They are "more" balanced, but with refinement they have lost some grunt in the low-end. Your collection of audio gear there are perfectly fine as they are 👍
Why are people saying this guy is the TRUTH just because it’s a negative review? I just bought them and I have the 3 pro and the liberty 4 sounds way better and crisper than the 3 pro’s while being lighter in weight. El Jefe, Flossy Carter, CEONTHEMAKING give real reviews with comparisons to different earbuds and they all have had said unfavorable things against the current tech being reviewed. Flossy and El Jefe both own DOZENS and DOZENS of earbuds from DIFFERENT makers. I’ll much rather go with the advice of reviewers who have done countless reviews of different products. That shows they have a developed ear and testing standards…. ESPECIALLY El Jefe…. The Liberty 4s are GREAT
Thanks for your points! Yes, the L4 sound great and in my year end guide they are the best all-rounded earphone this year. Some aspects that I complained about in the video like the squeeze controls have been addressed with updates that added sensitivity settings, so looks like Soundcore was listening 😁. However, it terms of pure SQ, my ears still prefer the L2P Plus (not the L3P) - just more wholesome and smoother.
I'm listening on these right now and it's stunning how clear they are. Honestly though I've had better Bass in ones around the $25 mark. (Tozo T6 for example) but realistically these are the best headphones I've ever had for any price. Bar none. Edit: regardless of gimmicks and blah blah blah it's very clear that the size of the driver translates directly to the size of the bass. This may only be able to be said about bass. I might be wrong but I believe the tozo t6 has a 10 mm main single drivers and the main driver of the Liberty 4 is 9.5 mm
I have the life 3 and the Lib 4 and I like both. The life 3 has better mids I think ..The new Lib 4 has better treble and bass feels warmer. I'm not sure if its worth keeping the Lib 4s because the Life 3's sound so good as well. I don't really care for the other features. And you are the right the spatial audio did nothing for me.. I'm interested in the sound quality and maybe the NC. Got the Life 3 for $50.00 on sale at Target a little while back.
The way you explained spatial audio is exactly how the AirPods Pro “head tracked” version of spatial audio works. If that’s what you’re looking for that could be a pro.
Yeah, not really a fan. Moreover, in the fixed movie/gaming mode, it's basically just a delayed reverb effect that tricks you into thinking you're in a theater.
@@gearupaaron Agreed, it’s not for everyone and every situation. The sound quality, especially in music, can be an aquifer taste. I feel like the bass goes down. I kind of enjoy it when watching certain videos and feel like it adds an immersive aspect.
Hi Aaron what earbuds would you recommend for clear calls in noisy environments? For example working in a café. This is my most relevant variable. Thx!!
Thank you for your support, Seth! Sorry about the late response here - new baby just arrived. Feel free to share GearUP with people you know if you enjoy what I do 😎🙏 Happy New Year!
Could you please give your opinion on which one is better in terms of microphone/call quality (when it comes to loud/noisy environment - street and quite - house environment) and sound between: Liberty 3 PRO and Liberty 4? I would really appreciate that!
SQ would be a slight win for the L4, while call quality all round would be about equal between the two. Not sure if you watched my reviews of both, you can check out the mic quality.
This is a great review, undoubtedly. I just done think these earbuds are for me. I need earbuds that can stay in while I'm biking. Do you have any recommendations? Do you think the pixel buds could be of use?
Andrei's suggestion is on point - any kind of earphones with hooks or wing, or have considered something like a Shokz OpenRun Pro or something similar?
I was debating between these or the pixel buds a or pros at best buy. I really was thinking of getting the pixel buds a but what I hate was it didn't have wireless charging case and I really didn't wanna pay 200 on the pros when apparently from what I've been reading the quality wasn't as good as the under 100 pixel a buds. I paid 120 for the liberty 4 and honestly I love them the quality is way better than the galaxy buds live and I love the stem design I missed that from my airpods 2nd gen.
You missed, the right one discharges faster than the left one sometimes even more than a hour and answers from Anker soundcore are funny... Heart rate sensor and random stuff in right one...
Hey Robert, thanks for your support! I have a baby on the way so will be ducking out for a couple of months from my usual cadence. Stay tuned though, cause I might do some Shorts and such. I totally enjoy the 3P too.
Love the soundstage of these. But the controls are terrible. Especially if you live in a cold country the controls freeze and don't work. I prefer touch or real physical buttons. Wind noise is terrible as well. The ANC is overrated, I often think that ANC is off even if it's on. Microphones are not the best, I find myself raising my voice to be heard even in a quiet environment.
Great review - I'm sure these are terrific buds however they didnt really work out well for me at all. Aside from the ANC being almost non existent on any of the app settings, a simple tilt of the head sends these things flying. They simply dont fit well enough to stay in place no matter what you do. I returned them and bought J Labs instead :)
@@gearupaaron Jlabs ANC True Wireless Air buds 2nd gen. They fit perfectly and stay in place. Oustanding noise cancelling as well. These do not have the "stems" - which I believe was partially causing my fit problem with the Liberty 4. :)
I'm looking for a decent pair of earbuds that won't break the bank. Do you have any recommendations for podcast listening in the office? Maybe something that I can use either buds separately?
Hi, thanks for your questions! SQ - it depends. If you like warmer results, the Sony is best. If brighter, technical sound is what you want, then the L4. I think the call quality is SLIGHTLY better on the XM4, iirc. Another option can be the Jabra 7 or 7 Active, or 1More Evo. Hope that helps some!
Liberty 4 is one of the best for calls in noisy environment. Liberty 4NC has a bit stronger ANC but it can't make your voice sound clear in noisy places.
@@gearupaaron Yep, I'm on a budget but also thought that if I'm buying a new pair of buds, it might be worth investing just once for the Liberty 4 if the differences are really that great. I'm looking for buds with great SQ as well as ANC
I'm returning them tomorrow. The Hi-hat sounds are overpowering, I Can't stand them for just one night, the sony link buds s were so much better. maybe ill try the pixel buds pro next.
Soundcore not working with iPhones are not common enough to worry about. That said, I'd suggest the Liberty 3 Pro or Liberty 4 if you want the latest features. Soundwise, I prefer the Liberty 2 Pro or Pro Plus.
Just ordered a pair of these renewed on Amazon for a little over a $100, hopefully there’s a big enough improvement over my old Soundpeats TrueShift 2. Amazon has a 90 day return period for renewed products so if the 4 pro drops within the next three months I’m covered lol
@@dozieeze it’s insanely better. Soundpeats I was using them near max volume which was a bit ear piercing but the only way to get a somewhat “full” sound. My Apple health said I was on average doing 300% the recommended volume. The Soundcore have a much fuller, thumpier sound, and with the noise canceling I’m running them at around 50% my recommended max volume and music still sounds plenty detailed. No reason to go above three quarters volume. Sound aside, I do have my qualms with the Soundcore. All the fancy features make them a bit less reliable. They can be a little funky to connect, they’ll make a little blurping notification sound for absolutely no reason, and the lack of wingtips makes them a little less secure and comfortable, my ears have gotten a little sore from wearing them, and I feel like I have my earwax than normal. This is just my experience from having soundpeats TrueShift 2 for around 2 years, and the soundcore for around a month or so.
I hate to diagree but the eartips are truly terrible! While I get a seal using two different tip sizes as soon as my jaw moves, it's unsealed and if you do not shove them back in I'm catching one midair! Why does this have heart monitoring? My smartwatch does that and way better! Then the battery lasts 1/2 the time with only 4-hours running time on the right earbud. Amazon has a double flange positive fit tip but then the earbuds no longer fit in the charging case. This is completely unacceptable. My rating: Sound is awesome even for audio purists like myself. You can turn off all that horrific Spatial Audio stuff. Hearing ID compensates for hearing loss at specific frequencies and produces a gorgeous sound. Spatial imaging is spectacular and I believe is better than enclosed ear over the head headphones, but the constant tweeking of the headset to maintain a seal ruins everything! Also the buttons get bumped every single time I have to adjust the things...SUPER ANNOYING! Consequently my over-the-ear enclosed headphones are still seeing lots of use, especially on the tablet whose Bluetooth is vastly superior in quality to any phone.
Great thoughts, Allen - thanks for sharing your experience! Soundcore is using a new eartip design lately, so it's possible that older models might suit you better?
Ooo, that's a close one. Personally, the Edifier. It's just something I can listen to for longer periods of time, fwiw. Thanks for your question, Ariant! 🤙
hi, there I brought the liberty 3 pro and like you pointed out I did experience cutouts. now I have bought the space A40 with the new headphones how do I deal with this should I send it back if this problem continues?
After the slight downgrade in sound quality between LP2 and Lp3, I've been worried. But I think they have fully lost their way now. So sad, cause no one else is delivering either.
I disagree with that, I was just comparing them to the l2p and I owned the l3p before I lost the charging case. The l4 definitely sound superior to the L2p for, better instrument seperation and soundstage, better mids. You need to pull the treble down a lot more with the L4 though.
Hi 👋🏽 Do you know if Soundcore plans to integrate the Google Fast pair and the LC3 into its earbuds? Because with the Google Fast pair, there is now the possibility of automatic switching between different Android and Windows devices much like the Airpods Pro on iOS and Mac-OS, I think it's as interesting if not more interesting than the standard multipoint depending on the circumstance. Ps: Soundcore should have put the slide gesture to manage the volume, and sincerely, I think that the ADAPTIVE APTX is for the moment the best codec on Android and Windows, the latency on the earbuds with LDAC and AAC is really noticeable without gaming mode. 🙏🏽
I haven't heard anything about Google Fast Pair (I find it unlikely in the near future), while they have a product coming out soon with LC3 support, though not in a way I would've liked.
How to use the LDac is automatically applied for example I have my Galaxy S10 and my Pixel 4a if I just connect it will it automatically turn on or what is the procedure I'm kind of new to this I did read a little about the apt x but I don't know much about except for that it's used with a Qualcomm chip for Android devices
LDAC is only useful if you have hi-def files, like top-tier stream service or FLAC files. It's easier to activate within the Soundcore app, so regardless of phone, as long as you use the app, you should have no issues.
@@gearupaaron okay that sounds cool I mainly just use my headphones for music you know but just like RU-vid That's really it while at the gym so I don't know if even having anything with LDAC or making sure it has LDAC make any difference I was looking at devices that have a Qualcomm check chip sorry the APTX thingamajig and I don't know I don't really know much about all this but
I really disliked these. I exchanged for earfun air pro 3s and even before the firmware tuning update the air 3s are winning. The pre-firmware bass is immense. After the firmware update they sound amazing. Set them up, deletethe app and use a 3rd part eq app like flat eq. (I was a skeptic until I tried them out) to me personally the air pro 3s sound better than the l4, l3pro and senheisser momentum.
@@gearupaaron Nice thank you for the response I'm currently looking for a new set of headphones sir and I was looking at the soundpits mini pro or the JBL race endurance I currently have the tozo t6 and that has IPX 8 It also has wireless charge It was 25 bucks I said what the heck it's done pretty well so far and I'm just looking for an upgrade you know My budget is 50 to $100 so I was just chopping around everywhere I was more used to the in-earbuds what is TWS mean by the way or I see the stem earbuds like the AirPods and this one the Liberty those intrigue me but I'm worried that they might even fall out but I don't do like heavy running or anything like that but I do do you know just like weightlifting you know so any input you have would be much appreciated
After this video I decided to not get the liberty 4s. I was on the fence because I have the jabra 75t active elite. They feel dated but these don’t seem to be the model to replace them with. Excellent video fella…thank you.
Every1 Is Mega Hyping These It Seems Accept You And The Causes Me To Pause About The Liberty 4 . I'm Also Concerned The Liberty 4 Won't Stay In My Ears As The Liberty Air 2 NOT PRO Would Fall Out No Matter What I Tried And I Thinks It's The Stem Design .
I just got the buds pro and they hurt my ears when I have them in so I'm gonna sell them and wad wondering if I should get these? Sound quality dosnt matter I'll just eq these to my taste or the harman curve
You can not eq bad to good sound, sorry! But if you mean the galaxy buds pro, yes theyre uncomfortable. Im searching too. I ordered the oppe enco x2 on sale but have no idea if they will be good.
I try to do it with every IP-rated wearable I review 😁 It's fun, especially for my wife and son who get to do the dunking and soaking. Thanks so much for supporting my channel!
@gearupaaron wouldn't want that lol I'll wait patiently for your review of it just wanted to know if I could still get it at the early discount after a couple of days after its release to weather to buy it or not
@selfdestructivef0rce Wish I could, but you know how embargoes work. 🤫 All I will say is that this might be a sign of the company's return to form (for me, anyways).
Thanks for your comment, Leon! In itself the L4 is great, but for a Liberty it feels diluted and rough at the edges (although updates have improved things here and there).
Finally someone who can describe the way earbuds sound without only saying "ooo I like the base" or "the volume on this is good" thanks for the review it was very detailed and honest.
That's the ideal distance for the protocol, but it depends on the transmitter size and power. In earbuds it's usually 35-ish ft, in headphones it's about 60-80ft. The ideal distance for 5.3 is 790 ft, iirc.
I bought the liberty 4 and I can say that they sound bad. The entire sound profile is dominated by the bass.....which unfortunately is sloppy and not tight in the low end it also colors all other frequency responses. You cannot tune it out without ruining the mids and highs or in other words rendering them brittle and thin. Technology and feature wise they are quite good but the audio quality is a deal breaker.
@@gearupaaron Technically it's better than Air 2 Pros I feel from your reviews n others and here in Singapore, cus of some Lazada sale I got it at just 94 ... Originally 140 lol. I don't know what I will use the heart rate sensor for I only know of playing Tom Clancy's games n then huge heart rate sensor device Hahhaa.. I hate the look of the 4 NC n the case like really EWWW haha... I like the slide case of the Liberty 4.
@@gearupaaron overall, sound quality, ANC, battery, and comfort. Since IMO I feel that the Liberty 4’s are still in “beta” mode while the Liberty Air 2 Pro are already consolidated (in terms of firmware fixes) Size is the last but not least important fact, to me. But if you tell me that in your personal opinion, the consolidated Liberty Air 2 Pro’s are a better choice, I would have no worries in ordering it, even with the not so desirable “long format”, compared to the smaller new Liberty 4. Also, did Soundcore actually said that the Liberty 4 is a replacement for the 2 Pro’s, or some months from now they will announce a Liberty 4 Pro edition?
The 4 Pro is definitely coming. If you're looking at the overall, the L4 is better. SQ I prefer either the L2P or L3P, the controls, and the price too. Everything else, the L4. I think Soundcore spread themselves too thin with this latest model.
@@gearupaaron thank you so much for the comprehensive reply. In this case, I have no problem in just waiting some more and see how the L4 Pro will be. Because, as much as I like Anker Soundcore products (currently I have 9, ranging from earbuds to headphones and speakers), I would be VERY pissed in knowing that a Pro version is being launched not long after spending on the L4. So I’ll just wait some more and see how the L4 Pro will play out (no pun intended). Also, you just got a subscriber! Have a great weekend!
@@gearupaaron by the way, I agree with you, I like Soundcore brand a lot, but sometimes I feel that they are making way too many options, which is not bad, per say. But I would rather see a more minimalist line of products so they can focus on making improvements more intrinsic to each model range. Instead of making too many options and not perfecting deeply into each one. But that’s just my 2 cents.
Dude! Originally the splash was a lot more gentle. Did you call in the Fire Dept? Heavy downpour. Please do a review of the Soundcore Life/Dot a3i. BTW My Chinese wife speaks perfect English 😂
@@gearupaaron her parents both deceased, father from China, mother from Hong Kong. The immediate remainder family members, as does my wife, speak the Queens English. Very proper and all LOL.
I think a firmware update must have fixed your issues with controls, or maybe you had a bad pair. I have had ZERO issues with the controls on my Liberty 4 earbuds. Ironically I may return them, but for feature you praised: heart rate tracking. I found that I can’t seem to use Apple’s heathkit or Google Fit to track heartbeat rate with them. I have to use their app, which is unfortunate. It locks my data in their system and is thus nearly useless for me. I don’t trust Anker with my data after the fiasco with their cameras. I have health issues so heart rate tracking is important. A shame cuz I like them otherwise.
@@gearupaaron thanks for the great review but i still can't makr up my mind i am going to buy a new pair (first one ever) so which one shall i buy for 120 CAD this or LP3Pro or any other pair
Check out the unboxing video, I think I talk about it. Usually, in terms of SQ though, I try to review it straight out of the box, as the manufacturer intended.
@@gearupaaron that's NOT how the manufacturer intended, or they wouldn't make EQ available in the app. It's a huge appeal of the Soundcore stuff, make it sound how you like it.
It was more of a tongue-in-cheek humor bit. 🤔 ... It also happens to be my favorite number since I was young, but not so much for my staunchly superstitious grandparents, lol
