ABOUT
The Soundcore Sleep A20 earbuds are one of the latest to try and fill what seems to me to be a huge gap in the sleep headphones category. I've used them for over a month now, and have mostly been very impressed by them, with just a couple of issues here and there. Fortunately, those don't prevent me from using them for what I most want them for - small and comfortable headphones that I can use when lying on my front or side.
In theory, you can wear any headphones on your back, but it's the other two positions that pose the biggest challenge to sleep headphones. I think the lack of active noise cancellation, while an issue for some people, is the biggest reason they are so small. So as always, it's a case of deciding what's more important to you - ANC or comfort. In the video, I also share the results of some noise masking tests I did, using both the sleep sounds on the Soundcore app and my own audio. I thought about testing them against other noise sources too, but decided to focus on snoring and music in the video.

Amazing review as always. Would love a review on the manta sound mask and comparisons with sleepphones wireless and musicozy. These reviews are always my go to and I hope you get to review the ozlo buds soon!

Thanks, I'm glad you liked the review. Thanks for coming back and for your kind feedback too - both of those things mean a lot to me! I have the Manta and Ozlo on my radar. I'm thinking of buying the Ozlo Sleepbuds in the next few days as they take a while to ship as I understand it. When I do, I imagine I'll test them in a similar way to the Soundcore A20, and include the A20 in those tests.

Great review! Thank you for your time and editing. Just for anyone interested, I have had a pair of Acoustic Sheep Sleep Phones since 2021. I have beaten the crap out of them and they still work. They are fidgety and fall off your head a lot but if your like me, a 95% side sleeper than they do relieve the most ear pain. I keep a pair of Airpod 2 pro's by my bed as my emergency bad neighbor ANC's! ; )

Hi! Nice to hear from you again, and I'm glad you liked the review. It's not often someone mentions the editing, which takes me days as I'm such an amateur still. So your comment made my day:-) I agree that the Sleepphones are pretty robust. The ones I reviewed back in 2020 are still working too. They are good for side sleepers, for sure, though you rightly mention the fact that the headband naturally shifts around on your head during the night. I hadn't really put much thought into that recently, but I think that might be one of the key reasons to choose earbuds over a headband style - assuming they are also comfortable. And yes, the AirPods Pro 2 have great ANC so I can see why you use them as a back-up. I hope one day someone, somewhere, invents earbuds with the ANC of the AirPods (or better) and the small size and focus on comfort of the Soundcore Sleep A20s (or better). A soft headband with ANC that doesn't involve sticking things inside your ear canals would be amazing, but I don't have my hopes up for that any time soon!

Thanks for your kind words - I really appreciate it. I have the Ozlo firmly on my radar to try out. Whether it's soon or when they are generally available to buy is the question I'm still unsure about. When I do, I'm sure I'll want to discuss how they compare.

Fabulous review. I especially like the comparison charts. I have been using my A20 sleep buds for about 3 weeks now. I had to replace my Bose sleep buds after about 3 years of use. The A20 is a great choice for me and does more than the Bose in many respects.

Thanks! I'm glad you liked the review. Thanks for letting me know specifically about the charts too. I was a bit unsure whether it was too much information, so it's nice that you mentioned that. It's interesting that you find they do more than the old Sleepbuds. I'm looking forward to seeing how the Ozlo, made by former Bose employees, compare. They seem to do a lot too, so I'm keen to see what the differences are.

Great review! I was wondering if you would ever try the Loop Quiet 2 earplugs? I'm torn between normal earplugs or earbuds.

Thanks, glad you liked it. I will try the loop when I get around to doing an updated earplugs comparison, which may not be for a little while though. I doubt I will do a single review of them though.

I have those, and for me they are still not comfortable for side sleeping, probably because my ear canels are very small or my outer ears aren't deep enough even with the smallest ear tips and wings, so I wouldn't recommend them for anyone with small ears.
@nosleeplessnights1
@nosleeplessnights1 Месяц назад
That's a shame. As I said in the video, I have larger ears and ear canals, so they work well for me. But I could see how those with smaller ear canals might have less space for them to hide away in when lying on their side. That will be an issue with all earbuds though, as it's rare that they are this tiny. If only there was a standardised system to match ear canal size to earbud size in the same way as shoe size! For now, unless you just know you have small ears, it's hard to predict in advance whether they will work for you or not. How do you find them on your back, and the overall quality though?

I have these and find them more comfortable than most others. However, I am a side sleeper, and after about an hour or two, I wake up with discomfort and have to remove them. Don't think I have small ears, and the issue is actually being a side sleeper

Hi will i be able to block the noice from my neighbours dog while i sleep im like 10 meters away from the dog and i live in second floor in the next building . Ear plugs reduce the noice by like 70% i want to know will yhis do better than it :)
@nosleeplessnights1
@nosleeplessnights1 2 дня назад
They are definitely capable of blocking out a lot of noise, especially if your earplugs have already shown that around 70% can be blocked. Whether they block 100% or not is another question. On their own with no sound, they will won't help much. You need to play audio, and potentially quite loudly, to block out noise as loud as a dog bark. Then you need to weigh up the pros and cons of listening to audio loudly for an extended period of time, and how safe that is for your ears. The good thing is that there are lots of different sounds you can experiment with to see what blocks dogs best. I haven't done that, but you may get lucky and find a sound, or combination of sounds, that masks the barking well without needing to be at an unpleasant volume. You could experiment by using normal headphones and RU-vid to play some sounds similar to the ones the Soundcore have. For example, try brown noise, pink noise, river, waterfall, rain. If any of those on their own help with normal headphones, then give the A20 a go. Just keep an eye on the returns time window and send them back for a refund if they don't do any better than your earplugs or aren't comfortable enough for you.

I have the A10 sleep buds and the one big issue I have with them is the buds being able to maintain a solid connection with my source device (99% of the time that is a 2021 M1 16" MacBook Pro) with my ear layed down on my pillow, so they with glitch out and sometimes have difficulty re-establishing the connecton. Have you had any connectivity issues like that with the A20 model? I like the A10 fine for what it does, but having weak connectivity is more than a little frustrating!
@nosleeplessnights1
@nosleeplessnights1 9 дней назад
I haven't had any connectivity issues like what you describe, no. I also use my phone rather than a laptop, so I don't have any experience of the exact set up you use. In general, I've been happy with the stability and speed of connection with my phone. I usually use the A20s for the sleep sounds stored directly on the earbuds rather than streaming (unless I'm doing some testing). But when I need to switch to Bluetooth mode to make changes, it's never a problem.
@AI-Creations-LLC
@AI-Creations-LLC 8 дней назад
I also own these. I will tell you I have a stable connection. However the only last about 8-9 hours in bluetooth mode. But in sleep mode which isn't connected via Bluetooth about 11-13 hours. Just a fair warning. I don't find any earbud comfortable. But out of all the earbuds I have ever used these are the most comfortable overall. My ears are super sensitive because of damage to my ear canals and my tinnitus. So you probably won't have that issue.
