SGM is better for orchestral pieces, Timbres of Heaven for...well, when you don't care about accuracy. Considering all the clipping, it's not quite a formal font.
The clipping is not the font's fault. The samples are high quality. It is attenuated higher though than many other fonts I've used. You just have to be careful when recording it in use, especially when switching from another font. As a user of SGM for a long time, it's terribly unbalanced. The percussion tracks are weak, relative to the other samples. The samples individually sound nice but when you put it together, and run it through a gauntlet of dos games, you start to realize things don't quite sound together. Timbres of Heaven is great for use with games, it's very compatible all around with the GM and GS. Everything is balanced and is great for general use.
***** Hi, For Sgm the official site is www.geocities.jp/shansoundfont/ but do a google search and you will find an already decompressed sf2 file, easily. Regarding Timbres 2.0.2 that can be found here midkar.com/soundfonts/ but 3.0 will hopefully soon be out the door and it's freaking amazing. There was a release canidate available but since he went internally to RC2 it's no longer up. Take a look at the midkar yahoo group.
@@joshuapettus6973 Yep. SGM Fails in GS Sound Effects too! And it is too quiet for me. And also I hate its hell deep indistinct fingerbass and the alien like muted guitar!
Just a thought... If I can run a battle with Timbres of Heaven, Arachno SoundFont and ColomboGMGS2 by me.. It will sound as Tarzan bappa, Lokumalli at Neth FM And Wanasara from TV Derana! (The Distortion and Overdrive guitars sound SAME! :-x)
Fernando Crespo, I noticed that it's quite loud in this video (TOH). Is it loud under the hood? Or was it just mixed like in this particular video? Thanks
