@@jpegmilitia Dave Grohl isn't exactly the bottom of the pile either. Chris' loss was hard, as was Kurt Cobain and Layne Staley. While not from Seattle but still very much part of the scene, Scott Weiland was a tough loss as well. How close were we to losing so many others? How close ARE we to losing others? What can we do to help? #Rock Lives Matter!
Master chef grunge god Chris Cornell. Grilled cheese and pizza was his favorite foods. Mostly pizza Before working at rays boathouse he was a pizza delivery guy. When I was younger I faintly remember being in a line and there was a bunch of old people naked in lines and I was behind a person and we were all facing a brick building. I wonder if my past life last breath on this earth was in a concentration camp
One of my biggest wishes in life was too see Sondgarden play this song live. I'm from Argentina and they came just one time in 2014 for Lollapalooza, but didn't play this song. Too bad that's never going to happen now :(
I met Chris in 1989. He wanted to be a rock star and he was. He was a great person and a wonderful song writer, as we know. He feared being irrelevant. He said that to me, a nobody, on Queen Anne, in a living room. I didn't know how great Soundgarden would be or how great this bad would play. It's etched on my soul.
For Soundgarden to reunite and be playing and putting out new music was incredible. Chris Cornell still sounded amazing, even years later. but I bet after the shows, and when he wasn't working or spending time with his family, Chris Cornell's thoughts of depression probably got to him. when he was alone, he probably found it difficult to quite the noise in his head. he wasn't happy, despite his outward appearance. his death is very sad.
Love and miss that man so much and I didn't even know him. It's amazing how a complete stranger can affect someone's life without knowing. I hope you're rocking up in heaven.
@@wwefandom771 strong disagree, dirt and jar of flies were the best projects from the entire scene. As a songwriter Cantrell>>anyone else from the scene. Soundgarden kicked ass too tho and made some great music, just think peak layne was the best live singer from the scene and Cantrell the best overall musician.
So many great songs from this legendary band!! I miss this time in my life! So much great music of the time and history of music! The 90’s music is still better than anything today!!
I'll be honest the first time I heard this song I hated it. But it grew and grew on me and now it is one of the songs I think of the most when I think of Soundgarden and when I remember Chris.
Scott O'Connor Damn, this song was one of the first songs that ever shook me to the core and made me say holy shit this band is the Fucking tits. Mid blunt cruise on the backroads of my town ten years ago my buddy played superunknown all the way through and I’ll never forget hearing this or any of those songs the first time. Love this tune
i always thought Soundgarden was an okay band... But i always rehear albums i dont fully understand, just incase you see it in a new light. And maybe 2months ago, i put on Superunknown album and everything clicked, the band made sense to me. Its an aquired taste that takes more than a few listens to really embrace every second of the music. Even the minimal moments. And thats the beautiful part of this band. And thats my favorite type of music. Mailman was the song that blew me away.
This man was an oracle...April 1994 Chris took some acid then decided to take a walk down the Native American reservation..lo and behold voices spoke to him comforting feelings attracted like he wasn't alone in a dreamy like conciousness yet whenever he looked back only glimpses of this spirit telling him to listen and write so Cornell did and we have this GLORIOUS MESSAGE we should heed "4th of July" was for us a warning of CERN and its capabilities with the Hadron Collider. ..YES he struggled with depression and substance abuse but he LOVED LIFE he did not take his own life..he was sent here to link us together not tear us apart.. FOREVER GREATFUL RIP CHRIS CORNELL!!!
Around 5:18 min mark Surreal moment to see Jimmy Page checking out the band that critics compared to his band, in the early years. A comparison that isn't necessarily unwarranted but also, Soundgarden was their own thing. A different beautiful beast altogether.
Thank you for sharing everything that you have been sharing. Thank you, I would not have been able to see/watch such greatness otherwise, so thank you Wilander, brother you have great taste.
My second favorite track of theirs...Limo Wreck being #1. I wish Soundgarden would do a tour with Ian Thornley of Big Wreck as the vocalist/guitarist. I'd pay $300 to see that show in a f'n heartbeat.
Amazing song. Heavy as fuck. One of the most amazing things was seeing Soundgarden with my son, and unfortunately, it was two weeks before Chris was murdered. To one of the best!
