This is my father's favorite song. He struggled with depression, anxiety, PTSD - along with other battles. He was a retired firefighter/paramedic, for 28 years. He committed suicide last September. Losing him, and my mom (died of pancreatic cancer in 2020.. I found his body holding a picture of my mother) has been incredibly painful & traumatizing to deal with. I know he loved Chris Cornell and all his projects. Life is absurd. This is to you, dad.
@@matchboxschrieverpetersonl7 with that skull on center T-shirt,you won't expect anything else.Sad.Respect 4 Jim,he was about to move to Rome/a in search for culture with his family.Did you know that?
No one writes lyrics like these anymore...and no one sings like him anymore. God I still miss this amazing singer and songwriter to this day. Chris Cornell will NEVER die!
ye, I heard it from my neighbour and was instantly amazed. Instantly, I asked google assistant to tell me which was the name of the song coz I knew it was just so incredible to pass by
I think you need to look at the movies made in 1994, all sorts of effects were around if they wanted to used them, there is such thing as a budget to work to though.
This is tough to listen to for me nowadays. Chris Cornell was always my example of an artist from this time that somehow fought and beat back the depression. Now he is an example that even as you age your demons don’t ever truly leave
The fight goes on. Never let life beat you down. Use everything for fuel. Stay strong friend. Our demons are within us. Love > Hatred. Help your fellow person and say fuck you to suicide and depression.
porque todos los genios y/o los mejores tienen y tuvimos que luchar y muchas veces perder, contra nuestros demonios 👺👹👹 Chris Kurt Layne Hendrix Janis Eduardo Benavente. etc etc
Me too, guy. I am 45 and not cool anymore but I remember the Grunge Years, it was so exciting and now ... It's so not. It's just recycled, but that's how it rolls.
Lyrics: In my eyes, indisposed In disguises no one knows Hides the face, lies the snake The sun in my disgrace Boiling heat, summer stench 'Neath the black the sky looks dead Call my name through the cream And I'll hear you scream again Black hole sun Won't you come And wash away the rain Black hole sun Won't you come Won't you come (won't you come) Stuttering, cold and damp Steal the warm wind tired friend Times are gone for honest men And sometimes far too long for snakes In my shoes, a walking sleep And my youth I pray to keep Heaven sent hell away No one sings like you anymore Black hole sun Won't you come And wash away the rain Black hole sun Won't you come Won't you come Black hole sun Won't you come And wash away the rain Black hole sun Won't you come Won't you come (black hole sun, black hole sun) Won't you come (black hole sun, black hole sun) Won't you come (black hole sun, black hole sun) Won't you come (black hole sun, black hole sun) Hang my head, drown my fear Till you all just disappear Black hole sun Won't you come And wash away the rain Black hole sun Won't you come Won't you come Black hole sun Won't you come And wash away the rain Black hole sun Won't you come Won't you come (black hole sun, black hole sun) Won't you come (black hole sun, black hole sun) Won't you come (black hole sun, black hole sun) Won't you come (black hole sun, black hole sun) Won't you come (black hole sun, black hole sun) Won't you come (black hole sun, black hole sun) Won't you come Won't you come
This song has such a special meaning for me. When I was taking guitar lessons there was this teacher that was looking like a normal classy guy who wouldn’t have a clue about the grunge music genre. When he was setting up his lectern I started playing the intro from Heart Shaped Box by Nirvana, and he suddenly stopped what he was doing and asked me if I was into this kind of music. I immediately told him that grunge/metal were my two favorite kinds of music. When I said that he put on the biggest smile on his face and firmly shook my hand. After that, he sobbed and recommended to me to listen to ‘Black Whole Sun’ by Soundgarden; a band that I’ve never heard before at the time. He specified that this song helped him go through a lot in his early teen years and that I would definitely check it out. And here I am, still listening to this 5 years onwards and continue to have the same chills... Oh what a beautiful piece....
Talk to someone about your problems, if no one is listening find someone who will. There are people who can help you, you just need to find them, don't give up.
So glad I grew up to this kind of music. I grew up listening to Soundgarden, AIC, Nirvana, Metallica, and other classic rock bands. I really believe it positively helped shape me into the person I am today.
I watched one of his last performances with my dad, and while I was listening he said that he is one of the greatest vocalists he’s ever heard. At the time, I didn’t appreciate his vocals or this song, but now it’s one of my favorites. I wish I could have appreciated it in that moment, and now I will never have that opportunity again. Rest In Peace, Chris Cornell. You will forever be missed.
In my eyes Indisposed In disguise As no one knows Hides the face Lies the snake And the sun In my disgrace Boiling heat Summer stench 'Neath the black The sky looks dead Call my name Through the cream And I'll hear you Scream again [Chorus:] Black hole sun Won't you come And wash away the rain? Black hole sun Won't you come? Won't you come? Stuttering Cold and damp Steal the warm wind Tired friend Times are gone For honest men And sometimes Far too long For snakes In my shoes A walking sleep And my youth I pray to keep Heaven send Hell away No one sings Like you anymore
This song is magic in this form and his raw vocals. Mezmerized always and always heartbroken for his passing. This is a sonic masterpiece! Forever grateful for this glimpse into a vocal musical master.
There's actually a bit in this very video referencing the first time the public saw pics of a black hole. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-efc7njKAfgo.html
No there was no picture of a black hole, it is more than likely a plasmoid, don't assume anything. If you understand how new galaxies are created then you know the black hole ideal is fanciful. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-EckBfKPAGNM.html
I remember when this came out and being mesmerized by the video still blows me away such beauty and his voice is amazing gives me chills every time miss you Chris 🖤
...and, no-one... sings like you... anymore. Thank you Chris, I am so sorry that you were wronged by careless people. To everyone who loves this man and what he has done, please share it with the people you love too. His Art deserves to live forever, and this is not to discredit the band or EVERYONE he worked with... but, truly, I do not think anyone will ever sing like this again. I saw him live a handful of cherished times, if you need somebody to verify that he really truly sang like this, and his voice will always be with me.

This song really helped me through a lot of pain, and its beautiful isnt it, that you can create something that helps probably thousands of people, but when it came to chris, i guess nothing was there to help him. Rip chris, thank you so much ❤️
@@aaronmk7 this is the step past that. The lyrics are written from the perspective of a crushed man wishing the void take everything away. "In my youth pray to keep, heaven come take hell away no one sings like you anymore pretty sure he's just fucking "done". Never noticed that before. Norah Jones did this as a tribute and fuck me, Chris nailed the perfect representation of hopelessness and loss so severe life being sucked into Oblivion is enviable. Beautifully expressed
My sons mom water broke right before I had to drive fast as hell, and this is the song that played during the drive. I remember singing it, and every time it plays, it reminds of the moment my son was being born.
I remember being a little boy in the early 00s laughing my nuts off w my older brother to this music video yet enjoying every second of the melody.. Warm moments. Never knew hed be gone. RIP CHRIS
It's been years that I've been listening to this song, I still remember the first time I heard the first riff and it did not take me out of my head that moment, I still remember the first time I heard a soul searching for reality embodied in a voice, this song is my place of escape to everything, my strength and my story, I owe a lot to Soundgarden and especially to this song.
I Remember The First Time I Saw This & Heard This On MTV - I Was 10 Years Old & It Terrified Me & Enchanted Me All At Once! There Are Very Few Firsts Like This For Me - Chris Is A GENIUS! RIH Fellow Light-Warrior! (& Kurt & Chester)
Jimi Page lol one thing for you just because you hate nickelback or linkin park doesnt mean you are a some type of cool guy😂linkin park was amazimg as hell and for yo knowlege eddie vedder and chris cornell are true grunge legends better than cobain
Chris Cornell ... The beauty and the power of your voice sets my mind, body, and soul on fire ... Too many moments to count when listening to you, no matter what band or if solo, where I experience shivers running from head to toe ... Now that is how one feels life their veins! It's the best high ever ... Your presence on Earth, even if cut short, was a gift. And lucky for our world, your voice lives on eternally. (Side note: How many MALE "rock" singers can A- genuinely sing and B- with that range? High or low, the energy his voice exudes is always there. And you can understand the lyrics! That combination may be rarer than an albino tiger ... Chris Cornell and Robert Plant take the top two in my book. Chris Robinson has his moments. Always open to suggestions but they better be damn. freaking. good.)
It's so sad this song don't have more likes than this when Soundgarden was so great especially this video this song truly touches you deep if you let it take you away Chris voice is so mesmerizing.Really deserves way more recognition and praise great band! If your here 2022 your awesome 😎
I love this song. I always described it as a song that spends half it's time in an outro/ending. Its at about the halfway point of the song when it really feels like the song's buildup has ended, and it begins an extended conclusion. People who enjoy this song spend a lot of the time reveling in it's ending, which seams appropriate for this song. It just kinda spirals around the oblivion of space waiting to fall into the black hole.
This is still my favorite song even after 26 years since it was released. I think it is about horrible loss, unspeakable anguish, and the darkest night of the soul and yet somehow still trancending it all with incredible heart and determination. I think that is at the very core of me and who I am and have always been so far. 🖤 And it speaks that there is goodness to be found even in the blackest most emptiest void of the darkest night.
Past 25-26 years for that currently live us this song, with this pandemic and quarantine in the full World. Chris adviced us a lot of years ago and today, this more vigent its containts and his legend. We hope that as soon as possible will finish this strange and this virus created for the mankind
Looking back I can't help to think that although Grunge music was depressing, the 90s were actually a happy era - it was after the cold war and before the war on terror
corrupt pile of ass war on terror. I hate everything about it. maybe the Politian's should be forced to listen to grunge before making any decisions that kills thousands of people.
Elizabeth Hogan As bad as it sounds, that war was never documented in the history books i read in school, as a classman of 2010. Yay for US censorship.
Genuinley only came across this song last year. I think I was a couple years too young for soungarden at the time, but Holy shit how has it taken me this long. One of the best vocalists of all time. R.I.P.
*It's crazy to know back in the 90's, when this was played on MTV, it was heavily censored with alot of stuff cut out..for instance, the woman sunbathing then catching a bug with her lizard tongue..MTV wouldn't show her lizard tongue or catching the insect..super relatively tame by today's standards..RIP Chris, absolutely adored you while growing up as a Gen-X'er..you were a staple of my entire teen years (and beyond)..so MANY favorites, "The day I Tried to Live", "Pretty Noose", "My Wave", I could go on and on..I loved that you were apart of my teenage grunge, plaid wearing, Doc Martin stomping years..wouldn't have been the same without you* 💜💜💜
This is the best video of all time! This video and song always stood out to me. The use of CGI in music videos was also pretty uncommon for the time. Even the color palette was clearly thought out from the lighting to the costumes, sets and final grade to give a saturated and vibrant look to contrast with the darker themes and moments of the video. I think that’s why this video is still unsettling and haunting to this day. On the surface everything looks nice and vibrant until the world reveals its truth that it’s built on lies and deceptive people. Then the black hole sun comes out to “wash away the rain” and in destroying the world it also liberates it from the lies.
