Thanks Mikey - a different song - many years later - still so Soundgarden - not sure why people are getting knickers in knots about it not sounding like Soundgarden - it IS Soundgarden some years later - sounds great - 2014 and fark they sound amazing, And sound Soundgarden to me - coz its the musicians playing that have always been Soundgarden - expectations of soundiing otherwise seems really weird to me
This is one of those songs that grows on you the more times you listen to it. Chris doesn't really stand out here, which is why some are quick to dismiss this song. But with repeated listens you can appreciate how Kim and Matt really shred it here, and how Ben ties everything together with his powerful and driving bassline. I love it!
Soundtallica in Chains never forget that Chris played guitar 85% of the time too :) and wrote many riffs. he is probably playing at least 15% of this songs guitar parts, live chris did much though....even more of a legend than people gave him credit for, doing those vocals all while playing, ppl forget he picks up a gtr too :)
On those comments that say it's not Soundgarden; clearly that is Kim Thayil's guitar tone at 1:24 and can tell Matt Cameron's drum beats throughout. There is more to this band than just Chris Cornell.
Dark and psychedelic, this sounds totally like an early demo from the Screaming Life era that was discussed about, but also has an Ultramega OK vibe to it. This prooves that the band knows what SG needs to sound like. It's the way King Animal should've sounded. Totally the new SG from the 21st century.
I realy loved King Animal, but also this. But yeah, after King Animal now it will be good to have that unique, strange sound Soundgarden has and masters!!
***** Or it means they didn't have the mindset or skill back then to fully realize this song. Maybe it took 20+ years for them to give it the life it deserved. It's fine if you don't like it, but it's simply not fair to say they can't put out good music anymore.
Raw sound, deep voice and I can feel the rhythm with my hands. After a few listen, I love this song. Long live to Soundgarden, best rock band in the world.....sorry, in the universe
Because of the amount of comments on here I keeping coming back to this page - and listening a few more times now LOVE it - and it sounds VERY Soundgarden - from Kym's guitar to the voice that is soooo Chris Cornell - its actually quite a lush sound ..
Has a post-punk vibe to it. Must be because they began as a post-punk inspired band and this is a re-recording from a demo tape. But it would be fuckin' cool if they blend this sort of sound with their earlier Sabbath inspired doomy metal riffage in their upcoming material.
Seems early, yes, kinda "Louder than Love" type. Definitely not "Superunknown". --Production here is not the best; it's all over the place, not very focused. Could be a B-side to new album single or something? I'm hoping for better output, honestly.
Jånni Balle Actually I didn't enjoy King Animal. I felt it was rushed and the outcome was a set of bland and subpar songs that didn't sound anything like Soundgarden. At least the Soundgarden I enjoy mostly the first four albums. I enjoy the metallic heaviness, psychedelic textures and big hooks. Neither of those were present in King Animal.
skred8 I liked King Animal, but it was inconsistent. It also contained some of the best songs they've ever done, and the worst. It would have been a brilliant EP.
Soundgarden always makes great music! And whoever said grunge was dead when Kurt Cobain of Nirvana died haha! AIC, Pearl Jam, and Soundgarden are all making new music!
It's like my 4th time listening to it, keeps getting better. That is like all Soundgarden songs, I hated them at the beginning, now they are my fav band of all time
Oh please, let this be the start of a new album from Soundgarden! This is a great track, so if a new album is on the horizon I am stoked to hear it! : )
I really love this. And yes I really love early SG as well (btw, it does definitely sound like SG, anyone who listened beyond Black hole sun would recognize that).
Dave Grohi did do the clip for the track on King Animal -good interview on RU-vid - and love the clip - loosen up and love - we get one life - the more we can enjoy the happier we can be - Soundgarden has enhanced my life experience
soundgarden es de las unicas bandas que no perdieron su escencia musical. eso demuestra integridad. junto con pearl jam son los mejores del mundo actualmente.
Any good album today would go back to it's '94 roots. Superunknown, Blue Album, Smash, In Utero, Ill Communication, Dookie, Mellow Gold are all perfect examples of albums from that era. I like this song don't get me wrong but if I wanted Psychedelic I would have listened to Pink Floyd.
So let me get this staight. Any good album from 2014 should sound like and album from 1994, but not 1984, like from when this song was written, because in this case, it was too psychedelic and therefore needed to be from a band from 1964...
Carlo Von Sexron What the fuck, No. How is 1984 relevant. When did I say anything about it "needed to be from a band from 1964..''. I just used Floyd for an example. Whatever you're smoking it or shooting up it seems to be working for you and I want some
Dave Grohl How is my head in my ass? I was just pointing out how fucking ridiculous that sounds. Why do we need these musical barriers saying "This can only sound like this because they're this,"? Fuck it. It's all irrelevant anyway, this is a re recording of a song from 1984 performed by the same people (minus Hiro Yamamoto) who wrote it thirty years ago. It can't "not sound like Soundgarden" because it's a fucking Soundgarden song! Have you listened to Down on the Upside recently? This band put Ty Cobb and Applebite and Boot Camp all on the same album and they don't sound alike in any way, let alone the stuff from the previous four LP's or two EP's from the thirteen years prior.

Been a soundgarden fan since 1990...I like this a lot!!! These guys are great (not a huge fan of "down on the upside", though appelbite and overfloater were pretty sweet)
Kinda has a Skin Yard vibe, like the early Grunge sound that still had a post punk feel aside heavy metal. Chris sounds good though. I was expecting Heretic 2 lol
