Thank you so much for this video. It really helped me confirm what was happening when my(and my neighbor's) unit was making much more noise than usual a
Just had a Amanda unit put in and when this thing starts up it’s like BOOM! Only on startup normal? Seems to work good but definitely loud on startup! Quiet otherwise
I've used hard start kits on occasion. Especially on some older units where the compressor has difficulty in starting, buys the customer some time (perhaps another few seasons). But you are correct, I know some HVAC technicians that install hard start kits on brand new AC installs.
What is the cause of the startup noise at 3:00 after the disconnect is plugged in? My 32 year old Heil sounds exactly the same. The hotter it is/shorter time since it last ran, the angrier it sounds. Still cools mighty well though!
What does that noise from the first AC Compressor mean? My AC makes the same noise and it was installed less than a month ago. I'm referring to the sound you can hear at minute 3:00 of the video. Thanks!
My hvac compressor doesn’t start no more . I was working fine a day ago . Is almost 2 years old so still new . Is. 3 ton rheem , you know what the problem. ? Can you help me ? Compressor sounds like wants to start but nothing is like a small humming .
Could be bad capacitors. If replacing yourself make sure to pull power and than discharge capacitors as they can hold charge after disconnecting. Also check for burned or lost wire connections. Best to hire a pro if needed. Faith ~ Hope ~ Love!
Hi..Can you give me some addvice I have a ductless minisplit 220v 2 ton the neighborhood has a power drop the power came right back I had the minisplit running afte the power came back my unit started to sound funny like the compressor is having a hard time to keep running at one pace...I checked the capacitor its 50+/_5%microfarids.. my reading on multimeter show 48.1 so the capacitor is still within range my question is ¿¿what could be the cause of the compressor strugling to keep going??
Might be good to just turn it off for about 5 to ten minutes to let pressures equalize. It is not good for compressor to be turned off than on quickly, which sometimes happens in a power surge. Many thermostats have a five minute delay built in to allow pressures to equalize before restarting to protect the compressor and some installers add a five minute delay ahead of the contactor to protect the compressor.
I keep hearing a humming noise, like the low tone hum/beep in this video, randomly every minute or so on either mine or my neighbors unit. Is it probably the capacitor or compressor? Trying to figure it out! Can't get an AC guy out for a couple days.
My brand new Goodman tries to start and both the compressor and the fan do then the compressor makes a loud noise and it turns of and back on then of and so on
I never discharge the run cap. If it is connected the compressor windings and and fan, it will discharge the moment the unit shuts off. The compressor and fan itself will discharge it.
