Ohh my beloved Qatar and my favorite Souq Waqif, I miss so much... I have traveled in 3 different Gulf countries but haven't seen any other place like this one at the center of Doha where you get the taste of genuine Arab culture and heritage in a clean and safe environment well organized by the authority.. What time at night does this marketplace shut down at? I will have a long overnight layover and would like to visit.

Shops: Most shops operate from 10:00 am. to noon. Re-open at 4 p.m. till 10 p.m. Restaurants: Most restaurants open all day, from 8:00 a.m. to midnight. Some may even open 24 hours.

After my trip to Souq Waqif, only one thing has been burnt into my mind and it was the utter neglect and visible animal abuse being done within the pet shops in the souq. Seeing animals in tiny dirty cages was absolutely disgraceful to see. I can only pray that God will deal with those of you who abuse those animals. Do NOT visit Souq Waqif if you have any respect for animals.
