There’s a bit of generalization on both ends but I do wish South Africa could get more of the nice ones because the few we’ve experienced are decent people.
@@OnicaMakwakwa I agree with you. We have had dealings with Uber drivers from Zimbabwe, and they are always polite and friendly. I think that there is good and bad in every nation on earth. It is more an individual situation. As an Afrikaner, it hurts when people have the opinion that all people with an Afrikaans background are racist.
@@MatronNdebele ..I understand where the hate comes from in Kenya we got Burundians n rwandesee who do jobs half the price a Kenyan would ask but we are one it's a free market willing buyer willing seller
I grew up in Yeoville and Bellevue in the late 80s'-mid 90's.The area was amazing with public swimming pool, clean market and nice apartments. It was multi cultural and Rocky Street was trending with bars and night clubs. I drove pass the area in 2022 after over 20 years and I don't know what they have done to the place. I could swear I was in a foreign country, the place is unrecognisable.
We lived in Hillbrow in the 90's and it was fine. My hubby worked in Yeoville, and we shopped there quite often. As you say, the swimming pool was a great place, and the town was clean. It has changed so much, sadly so.
I bought my first flat there in the early 90s and sold it at a heart in the early 2000s. I was last in Yeoville in 2014, and my friend was robbed of her handbag while I popped into Nando's, she was sitting in the car when a bypasser told her we had a flat, then opened the other door took her bag, and ran, while she was bending to look a the tyre.
I’m glad this video was done by other Africans so they can understand why we South Africans complain about some of the African brothers. You just gain a new Subie😊
@@sonofsoweto Crazy they have ruined our country, CRIME because they can with punishment, rubbish every where, no rules, when will the Immigration Act. What di dwe fight for , shocking
I'm a South African I once stayed there,I stay 2 months I blv,I was working in Hillbrow, they robbed me a new tablet which I bought 2 days back, they nearly stab me with a huge knife, even my landlord was a foreigner from Zimbabwe,on the 2nd month they stole my laptop exactly where I'm staying and my landlord refuse to pay bcz it was her who left the door unlocked when they say,so at the end of a 2nd month I left the place
Thanks you for this episode Bro. City of Joburg is missing an opportunity to make Yeoville a trully African hub within Joburg. They must clean and make it safe.
Hey Zack. Great content. I worked at a school in Yeoville but I had to resign due to high crime rate . Walking from bus stop to school was such an extreme sport, dodging would be robbers
We South African have always been telling you about Zimbabweans and Nigerians and you call us names like xenophobia, but trust South Africans are mobilising again to save are Country.
I used to stay in Yeoville with relatives ,the crime there was just disgusting and i fell out place because it was like i was in a foreign country .I would never set foot there ever again. The dirt ,the Zimbabwean guys with their catcalling and harassment. My relatives still stay there but they will never se me there .
Hey Zack my name is Jay, am from Cape Town, but actually am in Johannesburg, I really appreciate your job and I understood the M of your videos, which does motivate me a lot. We need to see more of African unity in all platforms, culture, food, music and politically of course. I have a lot of place's that I can show you around south Africa. I have traveled almost all the provinces. Merci beaucoup de ton courage
Its so sad how Zimbabweans find it easy to do crime in a foreign land. In Zim there is less crime than so many countries on the globe. These guys are not representing us well, we are artisans, crafters, small business ownwers. Yeoville Zimboz you have dissappointed us
My brother I was there in Yvile,I was staying there in Yvile, even my landlord was a foreigner, when I was at work they stole my laptop bcz they said she's was the one who left the door unlocked, and I was working in Hillbrow,on my way back in Yvile they robbed me a tablet with a knife, them who saw them doing that said they are the Zimbabweans bcz the ones who said that were Zimboz too,and they felt so bad about wat this guys did to me
Zack I am a librarian in Houma, Louisiana and I hope you get a chance to visit the South here in America. You are family brother and I really appreciate all that you're doing to unite Africans globally. I hope to visit the motherland when I retire in a few years and I intend to use my knowledge of watching your podcast as a guide to what countries to visit and what countries to think critically about. God bless you brother---your older brother in Louisiana.
It is great to see these foreigners pointing out the corrupt ones which makes other foreigners look bad. I know Yeoville from the 80s . It use to be a beauty and popular place . Now it is as sad place. 😮😮😭😭
This is my hood I hustled here I helped some people who I found in the street for years to leave the street and start their own businesses after 3 years here I had to leave the country am home now doing my business and have my own RU-vid channel I went back few months ago and did a vlog too It’s not a very nice place violence everyday my shop was at a very hot spot rockey and Raymond am just in my 20s but I helped people leave this place and started their own things
Yeoville used to be an excellent decent suburb before Nigerians took it over and change it into Nigeria. Now is taken over by west Africans and east Africans central Africans, Northern Africans , and sadac region, plus Pakistanis and other abroad poor countries. SACANS who know Yeoville before 30years of our democracy, will have heartache to see Yeoville like this. It is really painful to see our country becoming so low and very scary, with all kinds of tribes all in one place. It's really not safe for SA nation and God protect SA nation from this unfortunate and dangerous situation dropped in our land. The bad part about this, is changing a country to be the country you come from. Dirt is something that our fellow Africans must be taught that is unacceptable in SA. People must behave, keep the place clean as you find it if you love yourself and you are well raised.
Not only Nigerians !! Foreigners as a whole group fucked up Yeoville, Berea and Hillbrow, RSA was nice and great in before a black man was president of this country mara now yohhhh!!! Shame we even hate each other as Black people because of our barbaric behaviours
This is one of the greatest crafts I've ever seen on the internet so far. It presents the unfiltered reality of South Africa's most famous CBD. I wish it could reach all corners of the world so that people on social media can see it. All the interviewed people in this clip are just trying to survive, but unfortunately, among them, there are some rotten apples, which is why South Africans are crying 24/7 about foreigners . this clip exposes how poorly African leaders are managing their countries, leading many to flee their homelands in search of greener pastures here.
In the past it didn't matter if you were a foreigner ( mid 90's), I remember I was also happy to see other Africans, until I lost a family to family to a foreigner, I don't hate! I admire hard working foreigners and I support their businesses.
Sorry for this loss. No offense intended, but would it have been less painful if a fellow local person committed that crime?. South Africans appear to be more sensitive to certain crimes ONLY if committed by a "foreigner" when in fact those exact types of crimes occur daily and in abundance among South Africans themselves. There is a serious failure of law enforcement. This is what local and foreign criminals are taking advantage of.
Is this the Yeoville are used to know 20 years ago? The place used to be clean but crime was still high. I can't count how many times i was robbed in this place and lost couple of friends thru gun shot.
Thankyou for saying the truth brother. They'll be saying Zimbabweans including those who doesn't even know how to do a crime, that's not fair, it is not all them who does crime
There are many Zimbabweans in SA coz its just across the river unlike Congo,Nigeria etc which are far away so ZIMBABWEANS AND SOUTH AFRICANS are same language same culture..
Yeoville its not dangerous, go to Alexander or diepsloot you will see the true meaning of word dangerous ..l started living in Yeoville in 1998,then l left in 2004 and stay in another hoods, but when l returned back there for a visit years later, the only difference l found is its now too crowded, as for crime, there crime anywhere in south africa, and crime got no colour ,or nationality, stop being negative and instigating hatrage amongst black brothers and sisters
My brother i went to that place with my friend for drinks when we finished drinking beers my car battery was stolen i hv to buy a new battery.i will never go back there again.i respect that area will all my heart.imagine you finished drinking you're about to go home the car couldn't start.
I grew up in those areas I went to Observatory Girls Primary, that place is no longer a good place, it’s very dangerous. Someone I knew was mugged and shot dead. There’s no way I’d set foot there
I grew up in Yeoville, actually I went visiting there about 3 months ago. I have seen it deteriorate before my eyes over time and its sad. The authorities completely abandoned it and crime is rife. Criminals will target you if you do not belong and they can tell by how you carry yourself. Despite all of these issues in Yeoville, most people are good, friendly and kind, looking for a better life and a way to feed their families.
The biggest market in Yeoville makes me think of a big shopping mall in Houston, Texas or another area in the US. I think it’s the biggest in the US. I don’t remember the name of it.
My brother I'm Nigerian and most of the things they said about my country men in South Africa are true but most of this atrocities are majorly been carried out by the IGBO TRIBE of Nigeria, this is how they continue to destroy the image of the whole nation. So therefore please don't get the notion that all Nigerians are bad bcos that's not the narrative at all.
He is correct. Practically 98% of Nigerian drug peddlers across Africa, Thailand and the globe are members of the "Ibo" ethnic group from five landlocked states in the South-East of Nigeria. Sad but true. Not a highly educated bunch, but their value system is heavily money-centric. In South Africa, why police and immigration are not grabbing them in large numbers is another matter.
In the 90s I went to Yeoville after graduating from UCT. I got robbed at the ATM on my 2nd day there. About a year later my apartment was burgled and few months after that my friends and I were held up at gunpoint in their apartment. I quit my job and came back to Cape Town. I loved it there but just the crime was too much to handle.
Big up Champion for visiting our hood in Yeoville. I live and work in Yeoville but honestly its relatively cool regardless of whatsover type of crime here but we are cool. I love Yeoville cheif. Many thanks and have a lovely stay in Joburg
Yeoville is indeed crowded, dirty but NOT as dangerous as many arears in Jozi,Yeoville is affordable in food and accommodation making it first destination to migrants who hustle to survive.Yeoville is a free xenophobia zone as the majorities are outsiders .......
South Africa for South Africans, Nigeria for Nigerians and not this bullshit of fake one Africa with parasitic opportunistic tribalistic long liberated African failed nations
Do for us the videos like this bro I even come in yeoville. Is very dangerous Town and I even taken my phone there and since that day I never go again there in GAMBELA
I lived in yeoville from 1999 till 2019 I moved cause it was no longer safe tomuch foreigners. You should have seen it back in 1999 when I went to yeoville boys primary. But now 😢
South Africa aint dangerous. Just a place of ancient injustices and cruelty manifesting in the prodigees today. How do u explain today's excessive violence among colonised indigenous populations. Only common demom8nator is colonisation
They will tell you SAcans are criminals but Go to Soweto where they stay you will be safe but go to Yeoville or Hillbrow, where foreign nationals stay i bet you will be robbed
the only thing that is giving yeoville a bad name is robbery and drug trafficking and illegal dumping dirty even some street light are not working pothole the councilor need to do something and call municipality
