Amongst all the negativity surrounding my beautiful country I would like to mention something positive. Yes South Africa might be in a shambles, but we started this decade hosting the FIFA World Cup and we ended it as Rugby World Cup Champions
South Africa wasn't just all scrums and kicks, they talking as if springboks were playing badminton the whole world cup, they scored the most tries in the tournament, they won the rugby championship, the only team to beat New Zealand in New Zealand in more than 10 years, they thumped England. Even if there was 1 scrum England were going to be creamed. credited where due Springboks played better in every single facet.
Sizwe scarier thing is that 90% of them don’t play in super rugby lol and that gives SA rugby union more money to invest in new young talent to build up for the next World Cup when SA rugby has a globe to pick and choose from when building a team to defend the cup.
@@eugenegordon6164 they still won't get how well we play if I was them I'd buy the Affies or Grey College hahahaha, our rugby is really impressive they is nothing England can do about it
Regarding the 6/2 split, it’s not just about the fwds. In order to do that you need a backline player that can basically cover all backline positions. Not all teams have the priviledge of Frans Steyn that offers you a cover from 10-15.
I'd just respectively disagree about Frans Steyn on the wing. That's one position I don't think he had the pace to cover anymore 😂. Probably would have shifted a centre to wing or Le Roux to wing and Steyn to then cover centre or FB in that scenario..
It is amazing that no one mentioned the fact or remembered that the Bok pack outplayed England (with similar teams) in their previous meeting before the RWC Final, in Twickenham a year ago, when the referee saved England from defeat by not awarding the Boks a penalty for Farrel's high and late tackle in the last 5 minutes of the game. A second viewing of that game a year ago will substantiate this conclusion.
South Africa lost Mbonambi and Lood also suffered an injury for the Boks but you don’t say anything about that. This is a subjective point view from all people that are using sinckler’s injury as what resulted to the Boks’ dominance. As Boks fans we could also say they were lucky that Mbonambi went off due to that injury because of what he brings when it comes to rolling-maul. If you’ve been following the Boks you would agree that he is the best in that aspect.
England lost because they simply couldn't beat South Africa, full stop. This "needing" the world cup, Sinckler, easy route, etc. BS is just BS. Springboks played ALL their pool games, played the hosts, which by the way according to the Irish were part of the "easy route" but you think if Japan was so easy, then why didn't Ireland walk all over them? We played against the reigning 6 Nations Camps in the Semi's, had 6 days to recover before the final. England didn't encounter France, we all know what that was going to do to their pack, England had 7 days to recover before the final. In the final, England only lost Sinckler, Springboks lost Bongi, Lood dislocated his shoulder - Imagine for a second if it was Itoje who dislocated his shoulder - we'd never hear the end of it.
Yes well said..we are warriors..not crybabies..africa is not for sissies..we proved that by how they played..like the daily mail said...England was subject to legalised violence..they ran into a green wall reinforced with township steel..love it!!
We've upset the perceived world order of rugby. The Northern Hemisphere felt they should win the RWC. For SA against all odds of the economic trouble in Africa to have won the RWC, makes the loss hard to take by the Northern Hem.
@@nick74ish I beg to differ. We were written off by the Brits and the Irish apparently. We just defied all odds. Your media had two hands on trophy. No respect. You probably wrote us off and are sad now your preppy team lost. You lacked being humble.
@@nick74ish "The definition of arrogance is when a person believes he or she is better than others and knows more than everyone else, or when a person believes he is capable of something he really isn't." - Yourdictionary.com NZ, Australia and SA between them have won every Rugby World Cup, bar one exception, since the tournament's inception. Despite vastly superior financial resources, plus a constant talent drain of coaches and players heading away from the Southern Hemisphere nations to play in British and European clubs (and, increasingly, national teams) the Northern Hemisphere rugby nations have managed one solitary victory. The SH attitude is based on precedent. The arrogance in the equation belongs to the NH teams, who presume their readiness to challenge for the biggest title in the sport, despite bitter past experience.
Read the English papers after the nz game ? Of course you did and you believed them. That was arrogance of the highest order . No one does this better than the English media .
Sinkler is good in the scrum? Since when? Dan Coles has always been considered better in the scrum. If losing Sinkler had such a "huge impact?" Then what about losing a starting Hooker and Lock in same moment in first half? This for highlights why this Sinkler, Sinkler, Sinkler excuse is BS. Boks dealt with losing two players and England did not deal with losing one player.
The English speak of him as if he's some kind of super being. Him being off, the one "forward" pass and the Tokyo traffic was the reason for their loss...
South africa had great depth on their bench....their style of play was perfect for a 6/2 split....you could say they bled england in the scrum and gutted them everywhere else...because they had six front rowers...the two was basically one scrumhalf and one man who could play any position from10 to 15 ....and his a tactical kicker to boot...frans steyn was that man...he was alzo solid in defence and even at age 33 provided Rassie to play that 6/2 split. ..steyn copped a bit of flack about his fitness and age...but did the job....theres few guys in any world cup that could be frans steyn...because of him south africa could stack the deck up front in their favour....secondly many of that front six were extremely versatile...they could swap them around as needed...they werent called the bomb squad for nothing
@@rashaadprice4998 - true. But also Rassie played many players over the last 18 months in the Bok squad which means many players were familiar with the game plan and calls. SO if a n injury happened there was always someone already lined up to fill in. Take Nyakane out and Thomas du Toit steps in. Take out Francoi Louw and Kwagga Smith steps in. Take out Faf and Herschell or Reinach comes in. Willie le Roux out and Gellant in, or Steyn or Kolbe at 15.That is why injuries didnt disrupt the Bokke much. Many other teams succomed to injuries. Great planning! Rassie is a genius!
that period were England had a 1000 phases and still couldnt get a try Made the boks look like bouncers fending off drunk teenage girls trying to get into a club "sorry southren hemisphere teams only"
Ja with the way all the Northern Hemisphere pundits are talking about him, I expect him to be able to run the 100m in under 10s, Bench 200kg, and slot over penalties from 70m out
Speaking as a Saffa, it is a much fairer analysis than I would habe expected. I think Jerry speaks a lot of validity when referring to the reasons Rassies took when deciding on a 6-2 replacement set or why the replacements came on at 40ish minutes and why pthers havent adopted that approach. Rob is good for asking those questions. I think on the whole it is a good analysis. I feel you guys (in the comments) shouldn't get personal. Each person is entitled to their opinions whether you agree or not. However, my feeling is, they are not entitled to get rude and personal. Sorry Robert
I agree they don't have the most nuanced of understandings of SA rugby, however, I thought this was a more fair analysis than the other vids I have seen them do about SA, especially from Jerry. Also, as someone who is close friends with an Irishman, I can tell you that calling an Irishman a pommy is a very insulting thing to do.
Some say England were the favourites going into this... Some say The Springboks were massively underestimated... But deep down we all know that... *EPSTEIN DIDN'T KILL HIMSELF*
When you realize Springboks lost alot of their starting players to injuries and still won the World cup but England lost almighty Sinkler the best player in the world apparently to an injury and that's now the reason they lost against South Africa 😂😂😂.. I give up.. This people i sore losers.. I wonder in which planet has England ever had a better roster of world class players than South Africa
Once again, the better team won on the day, but if you think England weren't a spent force after our massive semi final win then you are deluded. You only had Japan and Wales to beat, easy pickings.
@@nick74ish.. Do you honestly think if there was a rematch.. England could win the Semi-final match against the all blacks?... Or the final against the springboks?... There is one thing the Southern Hemisphere teams have that the north do not... That is Rugby identity or DNA..the springboks and All blacks each know their game plan and style so well because it has been ingrained in them from their early development.. And they can trust it because it has been proven to be dominant and successful historically.. England are still even today still looking for a rugby philosophy that works best for them.. I think that was the difference between SA and ENG at the finals.. England started to doubt their game plan when they couldn't play as well as they did against The All blacks.. While the Springboks never have such doubt whether winning or losing because they trust the process
Nicholas Smith and apart from New Zealand what did you have? Australia, a side we hammered with our B side in August, Argentina, a side that we hammered 46-13 IN Argentina with them having 15 men on the field, Tonga a side NZ annihilated with 90 points pre World Cup, and the US. Get real. We played NZ as well, and should have won them had the ref not had his way with us.
I like how South Africa looked weak throughout the tournament. NZ, England etc all put in 150% in every game from the group stages. Yet SA was the only team who still had any energy left by the end of the tournament.
Looked weak? Mate what tournament were you watching? Who, besides NZ, had a chance of winning a game against SA? They had each game by the scruff of its neck, and in full control - even the NZ game, with the exception of 5 minutes and two tries.
So many people are saying "South Africa won by luck" and "England should have won" lol. Call it whatever you want. The new Springboks jerseys have 1995, 2007, 2019. England can talk when they win 3, at this point, only New Zealand are qualified to call us out on World cup wins.
This excuse have no more legs too stand on. Yes, South Africa needed the win but even if we didn't need the win England still lost to a far better team.
Have a look at SAs record against England. Not mention we beat them in 2007 final. SA are not number 1 ranked, World Cup, Rugby Champions because they kak. They a good team get over it!
@@struesbob7493 The game in 2007 is irrelevant. England just couldn't muster up the energy to beat South Africa after an incredibly emotional game against the all blacks.
Have watched the Boks play a few times over the years, in France 2007 for example. Was in Tokyo for the final and it is clearly noticeable how the composition of their fans has changed. The streets of tokyo had many more black saffas and the songs were noticeably better for it. Great to see and if we were going to lose to anyone am glad that it had such a positive effect on a nation as a whole.
@@reeconinvestments6823, I think you are lost. I'm agreeing with you that South Africa has always been better than England except for one period in history.
Why? they played ugly functional rugby, the better Rugby in the world cup came from England and New Zealand. South Africa's style of rugby set the game back a decade, at least.
@@nick74ish And yet earned them a story that will have the whole world paying even more attention to the game; growing it faster than if any other outcome occurred. Also, twenty point difference at a final game? Second highest scoring difference ever? Hardly ugly or boring.
@@nick74ish because a win for England would have been a win for the RFU's fat checkbook, not the sport as it is actually played in England. As for setting the game back a decade, you'd hardly call England's game-plan - the resurrection of Eddie Jones' 15-man, Australian-style rugby league strategy from 2001-04 - the future of the code.
Nicholas Smith Your locks and props need to go back to basics and learn to scrum tackle and win line outs. There was nothing boring about the manner in which the springboks dismantled England. Now that’s what you call dominance. Physically choked for 65 minutes then unleashed the wingers and scored 2 world class tries !
I love how Brits invariably say, "Oh, the better team won on the day". As if South Africa just got lucky "on the day"! I have NEVER heard any Brit say about their semi-final win against New Zealand, that the best team won "on the day".
@ 16:00 minutes Jerry was speaking about the depth of the forwards in the Springboks. I think, in fact I know, one of the reasons the bomb squad were as good as the starting players is because for the majority of the tournament they got roughly the same amount of time to play and hone their skills as did the starting players. All the players and particularly the forwards got roughly 40 minutes each to play, which meant first off, all your strength players are less taxed physically and have more energy plus also the bomb squad are getting the same amount of game play. There is just so much to what Rassie was planning above just giving the bomb squad a chance at the game. Its incredible. The bomb squad wasnt a replacement pack, they were an extension of the original pack. You see how little difference there is when the original tight five are replaced by the bomb squad and the ferocity continues, it doesnt let up. Its also really good because generally speaking the backs are not as physically taxed and drained since they do more running, dodging, scoring and tackling rather than thumping, crashing smashing as do the forwards. That is why more necessity is placed on forwards replacements than backs replacements.
England played one less game (France group game was cancelled) and had 1 extra day to prepare for Final. Any tiredness is an excuse to hide behind. Denial.
I can’t remember the statistics but I remember seeing that england kicked the ball down the field more than South Africa, yet they keep talking about South Africa’s kicking game in the final...???
Rassie said it well....his 6/2 split allowed his front row to play less time....meaning they could go harder at the opposition...knowing they were going to be replaced
Wihan Janse van Rensburg the Irish for some reasons have an agenda against us. Imagine how it must feel for them, they outplayed us in the 4 years prior to the World Cup year, yet they couldn’t get past the QF yet again while we win our 3rd World Cup. It’s probably just bitterness
South africas game plan was designed around winning the game....what people saw against wales left them unimpressed and they bought into the england being the favourites bs....in fact they never realised that the boks had the best bench......or that south africa had the best winning strategy....which would come to perfection in the final match...
I don't think these guys are aware that they is so much talent in SA its ridiculous..... We couldve even taken Affies to wipe England or Grey College hahahaha
You must have missed the whole World Cup plot if you believe the Springboks did not change their game plan for the final. The Boks showed NOTHING during the lead-up, which means opposing coaches had nothing to study. The fact that they suddenly tried to run almost every ball to the wings flabbergasted the opposition.
I know that being World Cup Rugby Champions can suddenly make our problems go away. If anybody believes that it is only wishful thinking on their part. If I just think about our current circumstances in South Africa they are not going to change any time soon. There is very little that is going well for our country in these areas at the moment: Our economy is in shambles and we're on a brink of a recession. There is an energy crisis with our problems at Eskom. The crime statistics are no different to a country at war. Now we are facing a water crisis with a drought now upon us. There is food security issue and that may, God forbid, become another crisis. The long ongoing crisis in the public and private health care system refuses to go away. The only question is, with all these different crises, where is the next crisis going to come from? The victory by the Springboks just reminded us of what we are capable of achieving as a nation. We have a fighting spirit and giving up is not an option. We were supposed to be the prey and ended up chasing the lions instead of being hunted. Thank you for a great and wonderful spectacular sublime performance.
So imagine how we felt in NZ when we had all 4 rugby world cups prior to this, woman's 15s,woman's 7s,men's 15s,men's 7s,now that's what you call an achievement and i doubt any other country will ever achieve that incredible feat.
I thank you Joe for pointing at the outset to the economic woes, murder, plunder, mayhem and loss of hope at this dark corner of Africa. It indeed glaringly contrasts to the Springbok win!
Springboks is the best team in the world, we have the best players in the world we just need the management like Rassie and we will always win no matter what...
South Africa produced their best performance of the tournament in the final and England produced their worst that's what happened, why did one side produce and the other didn't, no-one knows but that's sport.
Yeah very true. Most South Africans knew we have had the best team and knew before the WC that we would win. Very few had doubts. The difference is we never went around bragging about it. It was just a silent knowing.
I watched the match for the first time today - England was outplayed 100%. They did actually play a great amount of attacking through the backs. If rounded it would have been 10 more points probably
At no stage in the RWC did SA look like they weren't in control of the game - even when losing to NZ. NZ did two things to get around SA, SA adjusted, and it stopped. The rest had no idea how to beak the SA defence.
SA learnt their lesson against that cheating asshole of a NZ ref in 2011, and didn't leave anything to ref calls. Completely in control, and no chance for ref interference.
All of a sudden everyone has became an expert in knowing what’s good for South Africa. People must honor Springboks, they deserved to win the World Cup. Their hard-work paid off. Why can’t people understand that, or is it just being bitter that their countries lost? Springboks won the World Cup three times, I mean three times.... who’s gona argue that?

Stop it with the quota bullshit the blacks in the team are talented and deserve to be there. White rugby players aren’t all more talented than black players . Open your narrow mind
But NZ have a better overall record, the only country to never lose a pool game, the only country that has won back to back world cups,NZ have the longest unbeaten run by far so your comment is debatable.
Why are these people such bad losers, instead of just accepting defeat, they have to talk about our country and its issues, just accept defeat and be humble, we were never underdogs in the first place, England were the underdogs
With ALL due respect Jerry mate SA clearly changed their game plan and from the off. Clearly and they caught england cold every respectable scribe has recognised the way SA changed things up. Mate you were an average player and a poor analyst. I wont be watching you again pal. Midfield maul;spread the ball wide from the off set and kicked for touch.
LOL, This Munster guy has no clue, he says we played a 10-man game, did he not see De allende the whole tournament? Prob player of the tournament. Mapimpi?? Did he forget him as well, and is he saying Kolbe also is a non factor! Wow, no wonder the Irish has never been to a Semi, they don't understand the game at all
Last episode you were so arrogant before the game was even played. Now you arrogant in your loss. England were outplayed completely in every facet. 32 to 12 is a beating no matter what excuse you come up with.
@@hanoitripper1809 ,a real man doesn't get personal when he doesn't like what he's hearing boy so stick to that pussies game soccer because the NH suck at rugby,a real man's game.BTW most gay guys have short hair so what do you have to say about that you loser? It's like saying that real woman have long hair, that's how stupid you sound.
Hahahaha what rubbish we took the cup full stop.... We not going to bed hungry, I haven't been murder since your rubbish opening statement.. We play way better rugby then you could ever imagine
Horrible intro bud, for truth, being murdered and being united to one's front is different. Sounds like you are trying to be like the rest of the world and just judging the country rather than the continent's spirit towards the enthusiasm towards supporting the spirit of the game. Lol you sound British so you are not forgiven coz liverpool/ Scottish is forgiven in this arguement..
As a South African I am amused that you have been conned.Nothing will change here after that win. After our last win in 2007, pretty much the same thing was said about building grassroots players. Rugby is still not played at the majority of our schools. No rugby fields are being provided in rural areas. Funds will no be spent on growing the game. What will continue to happen is, our Government will continue to loot. Tenders will continue to be awarded to friends and family. State run companies will continue to be mismanaged and looted. Get real guys. Do yourselves a favour, Google "State Capture South Africa" and "Nkandla Zuma", "SABC", "ESKOM", "PRASSA" to get some idea of the South African reality.
I don't know if the evidence agrees with you man. In 2007 we had 2 previously disadvantaged players in the starting squad of the final. In 2019 we had 7. If that isn't evidence of building grassroots players I don't know what would be.
As a South African, let us just enjoy this moment. You speak with the level of venom and cynicism usually reserved by SA ex-pats rationalizing their emigration to strange and hard new countries. Lots of what you say may well be true, but why do you have to be so negative? If you don't like SA, leave. That's your prerogative. Your attitude, if you're still here, is unhelpful.
Like Rassie said it may or may not change anything but it gives hope. Even of its 1% it's a starting point. Stop being so negative my man it's not good for your health!
Wayne Andrews ,you are right ,but this is not the time and place to show our dirty laundry ,let’s enjoy this beautiful outcome that our boys gave us ,and be as positive as we can be .
Congratulations on SA for winning the World Cup, congratulations on England for making the final. You wouldn’t believe the amount of haters in NZ commenting on this Saracens debacle. And it’s all because they can’t take the All blacks getting their ass handed to them by England. England destroyed the all blacks which I was happy to see. The ABz supporters are saying things like the Saracen players shouldn’t have boarded the plane, oh I bet you Farrell is not smirking now, shame on those cocky English. To all the kiwis hating, have some class you sore losers, we got beaten. That’s sports. Acting like little cry babies. Just goes to show how much of a fraud Hansen is. He inherited the 2015 team to win the World Cup but when he had to make a team for this years World Cup he failed. Why would you put Barrett in instead of Coles? Scott Barrett was crap against England, he shouldn’t even be in the ABz, I’m sure his brothers got him in. Why would you take Crotty? Barely played the season. ALB was so greedy. Retallick had a brain fart. Laulala has to be NZs weakest prop ever in history.
