The weather forecast across South Africa today is as follows:
Eastern Cape Province, Free State Province, KwaZulu-Natal Province, and Mpumalanga Province will experience extremely cold, wet, and snowy weather from a powerful cut-off low. Heavy snow is expected, disrupting municipal services and affecting community members' mobility in the northeastern highlands of the Eastern Cape Province, extreme southwestern KwaZulu-Natal Province, the Lesotho-Free State Province corner, and nearby regions.
Be prepared for disruptive snow! For the western highlands of KwaZulu-Natal Province, the central and northern Eastern Cape Province, and the southern and eastern Free State Province, icy roads and mountain pass closures are expected. Be careful! Prepare for intense winds that could make driving difficult and send debris flying in the Northern Cape Province, western Free State Province, and North West Province. Flooding and displacement are expected in KwaZulu-Natal's north-eastern regions due to heavy rainfall. Expect wind and waves to make sea navigation difficult and localised disruptions to harbours or ports between Port Edward and Kosi Bay.
