The South African Class NG15 2-8-2 steam locomotive was a powerful and versatile machine that played a vital role in the development of South Africa's railway system. Designed and built by Henschel & Son in 1931, these locomotives were specifically commissioned for the Otavi Mining and Railway Company to operate on the challenging 352-mile long narrow-gauge railway line across the Namib Desert.
