if you check your original rection to Biscuits and Gravy, i dropped you my recipe to try out. if you do, i hope you and the fam enjoy it. and yes, both of your squabs need to see that Biscuits and Gravy video.
In America we generally only use the word burger for ground meat patties whether its beef or turkey or whatever but if its a whole cut of meat it would just be a sandwich
@@brians48now dude I'm from the midwest so speak for your own little weird town and fact that you even used the word minced leads me to believe you aren't in or from America to begin with
@@cbogolo I'm in Iowa pal. Call it what you want but minced or ground is the same thing. If you claim to have never seen a chicken burger or a steak burger or a pork burger on a menu then you are flat out lying.
@@brians48now i won't hold being from Iowa against you and a steak burger is a fancy way of saying hamburger to fool stupid people into paying more money. And no I have never seen anyplace ij America have a chicken or pork burger but like a normal American I have seen chicken and pork fritters and sandwiches
@@cbogolo Then you apparently live under a rock. You've never seen it so that means it doesn't exist. Gotcha. Must be quite a relief living with such a simplistic view of the world.
As we say about the UK in the US, "They invaded and colonized half the world for seasoning, and then promptly decided not to use any of it." Which is only half true really. Their immigrant population (and their diaspora) know how to season their food.
I think its because the english were at war with the french forever and refused to take any cuisine lessons from them. Thats why they dont know about cream gravy. Meanwhile france is americas oldest ally and they happily taught us how to cook.
I watched another reacted try Popeye's and he said one recently opened up near London. He shared his journey to the restaurant, the long wait in line and then finally eating. So you can now buy Popeyes chicken in London.
FYI that was Mr. Smith the school head master. It would blow your mind. Josh and Jolly took Mr Smith with the older School boys to Korea. It is a greats series.
Josh and Ollie are friends with the headmaster. And it’s an all boys school. They have done videos with a few generations of students. The first students they had in their videos they took to Korea, highly recommend those videos!
That older guy is Mr Dave, the headmaster. It’s the Fulham Boys School in London… Josh and Ollie are friends with Mr Dave. That’s how they’ve been able to film there for the last few years and even taken a bunch of them to Korea. They did a video of them giving korean fried chicken to the whole school once. They flew chefs in from Korea.
Bojangles chicken in my opinion is soooo much better, but it isn’t all over the south. North & South Carolina, Virginia parts of Tennessee and Georgia.
It's coming to Illinois. I am always happy to try a new fried chicken. Currently Popeyes is my favorite, but I have not tried Bojangles because we don't have them yet.
I love the Jolly channel. But every time they try American food, it kills me inside because it just makes me wonder what kind of bland nightmare Brits eat every day.
@@nullakjg767 to be fair, it doesn’t sound disgusting, just blah. Those are both bland foods. Why bother putting two bland foods together? And before I get comments defending beans, I do know beans can be quite tasty if prepared right. I am referring to the specific beans they eat, which are as bland as bland can get.
I've said this on many of these reaction channels. When we moved to the US, even food at restaurants that were supposedly the same food, was completely different, the ones in America tasted A LOT better, it has a lot more flavor. And yes the food is definitely bland, in comparison. You never really know it though until you tried good food haha we noticed it day 1
Your comment about the UK and spices made me chuckle. Funny how the British conquered so much land looking for spices, but then refused to use them 'eh? Haha! High vibes from AB Canada.
Chick Fil A (how they spell it but is pronounced Chick Fillet) aka “The Lord’s Chicken” is another good chicken sandwich fast food restaurant. Besides the variety of chicken sandwiches they have chicken tenders with a number of dipping sauces. They also have waffle fries, or chips as they call them across the pond. They are potatoes cut up in away to look like waffles. The Lord’s Chicken moniker is because the whole chain is closed on Sundays. They also are famous for funny roadside signs with cows writing things like “Eat mor chikin”.
I am a dad to a 12 year old and I really enjoy seeing you on this journey with your daughter. I live in Austin and think you're making a good decision!
Popeyes has been in the UK for a little under a year now I think, but one thing we eat on it that I haven't seen them use there are the spice packets called Cajun Sparkle. Popeyes, the Cajun Sparkle seasoning is made with garlic, onion, and red and black pepper
Exactly! They need to think of it as an alternative to bread. You can eat a plain piece of bread, but that would be "dry" too, and adding butter to most anything also adds FLAVOR!
Okay this is going to sound so strange but hear me out: I absolutely love parents who are impressed by their daughters ability to finish food quickly or by their daughters ability to eat and will allow their daughters to have healthy and happy relationships with food. It genuinely brought such a smile to my face to hear that burger story. So many parents make their daughters feel badly about eating and their sons feel good about eating and I love seeing parents who just allow all of their children to have healthy relationships with their own bodies and with food.
There are a couple of Popeyes in the UK. Its not exactly the same as the states, but close enough. "Mr H & friends" channel had Popeyes in fl while visiting, then tried the UK version when they got back home. They did taco bell too❤❤
Dipping the biscuit in the Mash, and Gravy is the Best. The Headmaster is really good friends with Josh. That's why they can come into the school. He even went to Korea with Josh, and Ollie when the previous High School class went as a reward for being able to finish a cup of Korean Fire Chicken Noodles.
The headmaster is actually a friend of Josh and Ollie from when they were teens. That's how they were able to do this video and all the food videos on their channel Korean Englishman at the school.
If you like good seasonings, you should try something called OLD BAY SEASONING. In the South ( USA ), this seasoning is a staple in our households. We put this stuff on everything from seafood to potato chips. You could probably get this online from the US if you wanted. I think you would like it especially on seafood. I never eat steamed shrimp or crabs without it. A little goes a long way with this stuff, so make sure to taste before you dump though. My grandmother would use some in her breading mixture when she cooked fried chicken, and have even seen where people will sprinkle some on their macaroni and cheese. It really does go with everything.
@@latigo3332 My sister and I worked at McCormick in Baltimore where it's now made. His son's girlfriend came in and said "This house always smells like Old Bay." My sister looked at her and said "You better believe it." I put it in soup, crab cakes, steamed shrimp, steamed crabs when I'm back east, in macaroni salad. A little goes a long way.
9:34 _"Ring Sting"_ is new to me. when i was growing up, we would sometimes call it (for example), _"Two Burn Chili"_ (burns going in. burns coming out.)
Popeye's just recently opened some franchises in the U.K. The first one opened in 2021 and there are currently 17 stores. Legend has it that they are planning on opening 20 more stores in 2023.
I like these videos with your family -- they seem really great people. I was never blessed with a family. I envy that, even the arguments. Spread some of that luck around, huh?
One of the tricks to making chicken crunchy is adding a bit of corn or potato starch to the breading. Mac & Cheese should be baked in the oven, and top a little bit browned for the best taste and texture. And, those biscuits look PERFECT! Cut in half, and a bit of butter and jam or jelly..... YUM! Honey is also quite good.
My refrigerator stopped working about 5 days ago. It was 30 years old. Lost about $600 of food. Ordered a new fridge but won't be delivered until August 2nd. It's odd living without a refrigerator.
american Fried chicken came into being in america by using the buttermilk breading method of the irish imgirants and combing that techinique with the seasoning of african fried chicken from african former slaves/immigrants. irish and black ghettos were next to each other. Its a unique combination that elevates both dishes. interesting history behind it.
It's ok for metal in honey but silver is another historical case of a very long story. You just don't want to destroy the beneficial bacteria and enzymes.
If you can only have one bottle of spice in your spice rack, make it Cajun seasoning. It works on everything and is the perfect blend of many spices and also has a nice kick to it.
There two Absolute things we do here in America guns and food, the fact i can go to any other state here and still would need two lifetimes to try everything is what makes it great here, and honestly eating local is whole different ball park if you can find great hole in the wall wherever one treats each like family
Ive heard the reason food tastes better when someone else cooks it is because while cooking, the snells and if you try it, the flavors deaden or overwhelm or already inundate your taste buds and your smell receptors, so by the time you eat it, youre already a little inoculated to the flavor.
Right,! Makes me less critical of my food because it comes out tasting the way I expected. Other's cooking turns me into Gordon Ramsey with PMS. Kidding! 😊
Have you done sausage gravy yet along with the buttermilk biscuits? If you don't breakfast sausage, hamburger patty works too. Same with if you have ground pork on hand.
Popeye's is either the best fried chicken you ever had from a restaurant or it is bad, just depends on the location/owners. Same ingredients, some places train their staff, others do not. Unlike Chick-Fil-A, never been to a bad location for them and their staff is always professional and nice. Bojangles has always been consistent also but there are not too many of them around me. As for the UK Popeye's, they just opened some recently.
10:35 Actually, milk or cream is the "antidote" to spicy food. Enzymes in milk products will break down and nullify the spice compound(s). So, have milk handy if you're faced with a spicy meal you may not be able to handle. This is also why ranch dressing is a popular dip or side for fried chicken wings with spicy buffalo wing sauce.
The key to making your own crispy fried chicken........ after you season the chicken have a bag of baking flour ready. Put the whole piece of chicken in the bag of flour and shake it up well making sure that the whole piece is fully coated and then place it in a pot of boiling oil. It will come out extra Crispy.
For the tenders, you can get spicy, mild, blackened (spicy or mild). The potatoes are even spicy, my ex will not eat there anymore because the potatoes were too spicy for her liking and that was back when we were married about 8 years ago. I think that was the first and last time she had Popeyes.
If you ever make your own American biscuits, you need to mix honey and butter together, whip it so most delightful thing you’ll ever taste biscuits with whipped butter and honey
True biscuit and gravy cooks from the country call it Cathead Biscuits and Sawmill Gravy. Makes your tongue come out your mouth and try to beat you to death. 😂
