@@pschighlights Gundy needs to cook from here through the end of next year or I think OSU has to move on. OU leaving the conference should be a big boost for him since that's been the perennial roadblock for the Pokes, but losing to South Alabama is... uh, you get one of these a decade.

They almost beat UCLA in the Rose Bowl (the stadium not the bowl game obviously) last year, losing 32-31 on a last minute FG in a game they led by 9 after 3 quarters. They made sure there would be no 4rth quarter rallies against them versus OK State. They're not a top level team by any stretch, but they have enough talent everywhere that on any given day they can give almost anybody a ball game and then some. I also believe OK State is not very good this year. Bookmakers only had them as a 7 point home favorite in this game, so that alone says a lot about the expectations of the Cowboys.

You shouldn't be that shocked, Sun Belt teams have beaten a lot of Power 5 (or is it Power 4 now?) teams in recent years. Just last year App St. beat Texas A & M on the road, Marshall won at Notre Dame, Georgia Southern won in Lincoln, Old Dominion beat Virginia Tech, and it wasn't that long ago that Troy went into Baton Rouge and beat LSU. Quite a few others through the years as well. Of course, Texas St. went into Waco and beat Baylor 2 weeks ago. It's been fun to watch the Sun Belt grow since its early days. The Sun Belt used to play the MAC in a bowl game for best of the worst and after the Sun Belt dominated that match up for years they progressed into a fine football conference that while not yet on the level of the bigger conferences, they are close enough that they can beat them somewhat regularly, even though they'll still get killed from time to time against top shelf teams. Not only that, they have a very competitive 14 team conference now that actually makes geographic sense (mercifully dumping out of place New Mexico St. and Idaho a few years ago), with all schools in the same area encompassing the Mid-Atlantic, Deep South, and Texas split in a genuine East-West divide.

Yeah, as an Oklahoma State fan, I can confirm that it looks amazing in the stadium on game day.
