Aidan and I set out on a mission to gather some footage of a whiting session using surface lures and soft plastics. The conditions were immaculate with empty skies, glassy water, and crystal clear conditions. The day even displayed an incredible fog blanket in the arvo.

Another great video. Liked how you disturbed the bottom to bring a few around. A trick I learned if fishing from a stationary spot is to have a yabby pump to get debris floating down current, with your baits cast into it, or in this case lures.

I always tell my kids that no one told the whiting that they aren't sharks. You're right about the clouds of silt attracting them. When we pump yabbies (pink nippers) we always have someone casting the egdes because they turn on something fierce. Caught some of my best whiting doing that. Great video again lads.

In the 90's I used to target yellowfin on Yorke Peninsula "beaches" at low tide with baby sliders in motor oil with orange tails...I would also throw 5cm minnow styled hard bodies into the deeper sandboxed over the deadlines for King George whiting and flathead...I also ran the first ever ABT bream comp on the Port River and in those early days we were considering running comps on catching whiting on lures...Enjoy the sport boys...best regards Brian Bochow...BJs Custom Baits Australia...

Just in case I missed a previous video but have you been up to Port Broughton? At the end of the jetty there is some huge arsed Tommies that bang the lures along the shallows. Been years since I've been there but would bet nothing has changed.

Thanks mate! A run out tide is my favourite. A run in tide can be dangerous if you have never fished there before. The water rises as fast as you can walk sometimes.

With whiting I like it straight to the lure. Sometimes just a straight retrieve works better than a side to side action with them!

Top stuff Alex dont know if you remember me from the store of Anacon** over a year ago ( kyacking but scared of Great whites and was in a bike crash with a banged up shoulder ) havnt been in the store for ages cause different state now for the time being.
