Terrible call at the plate really hurt South Dakota. I've seen awful umps every year at llws. They need to do better. They scored all their runs off of that horrible call. Fire him!
13:06 going down looking at strike 3 (right down the middle) sucks, but him throwing his bat like he got walked 🫣 that’s tough man my coach would’ve flipped
So am I. I’m actually shocked as to how good they are. I struggle with believing they are just standard all star teams - they seem like a group of the best players in the district
I think he was out at home plate …the ball touched the ground sure but it never left his glove and did the guy ever touch home plate ? But nice win for New York anyways
You have to catch the ball and control..underline control.. the ball completely through a tag to be considered an out… just throwing that out there for anybody wondering or blinded by anger
Props to New York as they are a tough team and have a ton of heart. New York plays Illinois tomorrow and I think NY will win but I’m Rooting for the boys from Illinois
7:00 The 1B umpire making the call at the plate was about to call the NY runner out. Watch his body motions until the moment he glances at the SD catcher holding up the ball. Then, suddenly, he says the runner is SAFE?! The ESPN crew in the booth seemed to think replays would show the ball falling out of the SD catcher’s mitt. Then they watched it from every angle, and saw that the ball NEVER CAME OUT. They were about to agree on that when the umps decided to stick with their mistake. 🤬 Kids are kids. We’re not supposed to expect them to act like responsible, professional adults. We ARE, however, supposed to expect that of the umpires!
It was the right call as the catcher trapped the ball between his glove and the dirt - he didn’t not have control of the ball. Very good call by the ref
@@brianmeen2158 But even after the runner's foot collided with the glove, the ball was still trapped in the glove itself and never popped out. It doesn't need to be fully inside the glove to count as having control. MLB has overturned similar plays for less. Bad call.
Definitely a bad call. That ball didn’t move one bit. I could see if the ball popped out of the mit at any point but it didn’t look like it moved at all. Plus the runner didn’t even look like he touched home plate for a while…
Once again the Umpire SCREWED another team shifting the momentum to the other team! Either its rigged or their just incompetent! That boy was out at home, if you look he never touched home plate before the boy got control of the ball again but they called him safe? Wack. I feel sorry for that team man, they worked way to hard to just lose it to another bad play caller! Not to mention the interference call on that play to 1st that should of been called! Absolutely ridiculous!
It wasn't the ump. He called what he saw- a dropped ball. If he was actually out the fault lies with the crew that reviewed the challenge. That's their job.
This game was won in the first inning. It's like I said "If New York gets out of the inning without giving up a run, watch out" I was really looking forward to a South Dakota vs Illinois match up since regionals. I don't think anyone had predicted the Midwest going out in two. Too much talent on that team.
South Dakota is very god but New York has better talent and even more heart. New York vs Illinois tomorrow and I think New York is a level better but I’m rooting for Illinois
@@larryyoder4861 I think quite a few great teams got screwed by the ‘modified double elimination’ format.. in regionals they won and stayed in the winners bracket but lost the last game and were eliminated . I don’t like that
I don’t like that the Midwest and southeast are both 8 team regions yet all the northeastern teams get to compete in 4 team regions. Seems pretty biased to me for certain states to have a much higher likelihood of making it to Williamsport than others. Same with the 10 team formats once in Williamsport. Teams with a bye the first game automatically are put into the winners bracket game. Format needs to be fixed.
Why does it seem like there is so so many wild pitches?? All of the games ive watched it would dumbfound someone to know how many runs scored just from wild pitches... plus how many stolen bases because of it also...now i know they are 12.. and maybe its always happened..but i dont remember it being this bad in the past...
Because they are trying to throw too many breaking balls.. I still feel 12 years old is still a bit young for the breaking balls .. I mean damn these kids throw heat for their age .. but they can't even hit their spots with a fast ball (some not all) at this age I feel a good accurate fastball inside ... and change up.. all these kids crowd the plate
Worst umpiring ive seen in many years by an out of position 1st base umpire. Then not over turn it after replay shows New York players foot didnt even touch home plate. UNREAL UMP.
7:06. Kid is standing there with his foot on the front of the plate. Umpire is staring right at it. I'm not sure how you miss this, since it's in slow-mo.
@@cylusjackson9492 Yes they're 12, that's a good time to teach them.I guess that's the culture these days. Everyone wants to be a star on social media.
I thought that to a point also... I get getting hyped and celebrating.. and yes the whole pointing out your chest and doing whatever with your hands or face. Or even a dance is what the new generation does. Which is fine because I'm old. Who am I to say its cringe or over the top... but I see kids celebrating getting singles..acting like they hit a triple or a homerun. But I also understand they are 12.. and to be in that situation and have that opportunity I guess I can understand.
