Wow. I just left a comment on one of your other videos looking for a picture of the train station in Bellmawr, NJ. At 52:53 my wish is answered. Thank you so much for these videos. I live two blocks from there and my son has been looking for this for years.
At around the 44 minute mark you guys are talking about the Kirkwood lake and how they'd harvest the ice. My Grandmother's family had a dairy farm in Kirkwood and I heard that story of the cutting up ice from the pond and transporting it out as well. This isn't related to the lake, however, she also told the story of an engineer who would play a tune (I wish I could remember which one) with the whistle during WWII. The people of the town had him stop because it caused them to miss their loved ones fighting over seas.
Would you be so kind, or interested, in producing a segment on the "Back Road" line, from Camden to Ft. Dix ? (WPCA-20) I love that line, past & present and have seen many changes on it thru the years. My aunt & cousin's back yard had the tracks behind it, as they lived on Devon Rd. in Lenola/Moorestown. I remember the tracks that went into the industrial park & Pittsburgh Plate Glass, and the old "Dead Man's Curve" plate girder bridge near RCA- all now gone. And the trackage that was used thru Merchantville & on & on.... so much has changed !!! 🚬😎👍
If you ever watch the movie King of Marvin Gardens, a PRSL train pulls up to the old AC Rail Station near the beginning of the movie. At the lead of the passenger consist is a PRSL GP-38, I believe. The flick was released in '72, so was probably shot in '71.... 🚬😎👍
