I started collecting again around the beginning of 2020. I spent a lot of time watching RU-vid and found 3Dbotmaker and it just turned something on. So I started buying cars like crazy. I just bought what I liked. I learned about treasure hunts and supers. Then premiums and how sets work. I still like to open the cars and enjoy them. I can see how it becomes addictive to complete sets and find all the THs and STHs but you’d have to make it a life mission to find everything at the stores. I just still buy what appeals to me. Just an old school car enthusiast. I just turned 50.

My uncle had one of those VW campers. Although, I was very young, I remember it fondly. I also remember it struggling with a hill one time, and literally got passed by a bicyclist. I don't think my uncle appreciated the laughter that ensued from my cousin and I. Too bad it didn't have a VR6. That would have been entertaining in an entirely different way. Btw, that Karmin is crying out for a custom treatment. Have a great day everyone.

One of your best 'rants' in recent memory. I'm currently struggling to keep my head above water, so there are a few I buy to make a little (very little) extra income. But mostly I just buy cars that I like, not trying to complete any sets or checklists. And I agree 100% that it was more fun when I didn't know what was coming and just saw a cool car on the peg at Kroger or Target.. The Volvo 850 Estate and Audi Sport quattro were two pleasant surprises I didn't see coming, before I started doing research. Sigh.

Yep, I caught Walter's community post which led me to Shawn Nicklaus' video. If widely adopted, those tactics will only garner backlash among retailers and certainly among employees. I expect stores to stop giving such information out over the phones about toy car deliveries and they'd be right to refuse those calls. It comes down to each of us to strike a good balance and a healthy relationship with the hobby, to keep it fun, however way we individually define fun. If a collector blames "scalpers" at every turn for a poor experience at the pegs, that's a hint to push back from the table and reevaluate one's goals and motivation. I sure don't mind seeing Ministry's videos because I know those cars are still months away from arriving locally. In the meantime I forget somewhat, lessens the itch of anticipation. In parting, I feel Walter wasn't upset at Shawn giving away the game like it was top secret tactics but upset with the venal attitude and the potential fallout for the whole collecting experience

We are in super strange daze....its more like '2 Seconds to Midnight.' We are in hyper novelty and the masses are about to do really weird things. Most people are going to be in for a rude awakening and our HW collection is not going to save us. Keep it simple, be aware and God Bless!

You spoke the truth, I saw one dude in Cali saying that we all need to chill and love each other on one of his video. And then the next video he and his friend scalps all the Zamac Honda Civic from a Walmart dump bin. It’s just sad , how we prevert collecting die cast cars.

I agree with your sense the collecting. More fun to actually collect the wat that you describe. It makes your channel more enjoyable.

I bought that same VW pack exclusively for the Karmann Ghia. I always wanted one back in the late 80's early 90's and never bought one.

Love the blue definitely be picking those up. I stick them on my cases. You're right enjoy the hobby it's toys there's more out there than you could ever collect so what you ever end up with should be more than fine. Love the show content today off the chain. FOMO is a bitch stay clear. Love the karmann Ghia love the GTI. I had a Volkswagen Passat Wolfsburg W8 AWD. Saw videos where people were driving on the Autobahn at 185 LOL I got to 135 that was enough for me. I would say that Volkswagen beetles from matchbox to notoriously big domed for sure.

She apologized because the ravens have already torn it apart and left a mess. I was still able to find a few I wanted and tried to clean up. I might have to go back to the dumps, still 2 I did not go through. You never know, plus I find it fun. I think you mentioned it before that around $3 is what you are willing to pay for a toy. I am in or about that. I like to stay around $2 but that seems to be impossible now. I splurged today and to $6.99. I did not know but even though I broke my rule I am happy to have it. Don't tell my wife. J/K I know she will be happy to see a simple smile on my face. I did find a GT40 black HW and one in MBX 5 pack. I still limit myself to one car a day even if I have/purchase many on hand. Am I alone or do you open as soon as you get home?

what's going on with the grey Nissans? You said you were sold out of the grey skyline, by which I assumed you meant the Then and Now LBWK 'then' version, then you show the grey LBWK 'then' '73 Kenmeri Skyline in position #19 and identify it as a 'now' version, which is supposed to be an R35 GT-R...is the grey R33 Godzilla Skyline the one that's sold out? Too many grey skylines! Not particularly into VWs but if you're happy, that's good, and I could fancy a Karmann Ghia if it weren't orange; too many orange cars as well!. That said, I am a fan of Passats/Arteons, very sleek cars, I wish there were models of them out there.
