@@andrewhood8952 I think you are scrutinised more after a couple of strikes. Also something about the category your are in. Some guy did a video saying how some channels have greater freedom due to them not being classified as entertainment. Can't recall the details, but probably worth checking.
And I always remember the lyrics wrong too. I like mine better. Monday a b!tch Tuesday a b!tch Thursday, Friday, still a b!tch Tra lala la la lalala Comayamaya BIOTCH.
Brian Boitano said he didn't get why the movie made a big deal out of him, the creators said that is why they did. I'm sure he deserves the praise as a successful Olympic athlete. South Park is known for going after celebs with big heads so in a way it makes sense they would praise humility.
I remember being 12 years old and my parents taking me and my sister to the theater to see this movie. They thought it was just a kids movie 🤣 my mom was so embarrassed but my dad was laughing nonstop
Clooney was a big influence on getting the show on the air in the first place, as he spread around a bootleg copy of a video Parker and Stone did, that featured the prototypes of the South Park kids (I think it was called “Santa vs Frosty”). He thought it was hilarious and made sure as many people as possible saw it!
@@TheJabbate1 Sparky was the test for George Clooney, he passed and they gave him a real role. There's an interview clip somewhere of Matt and Trey saying celebrities always hit them up to be part of the show and they only offered dumb roles like barking as Sparky, and George Clooney was the only one who said "yes" after the ridiculous offers.
I don't envy how much of a pain it must be to have to censor everything on RU-vid nowadays. But we do appreciate your hard work, Jen! Seeing a Canadian react to this movie made it so much funnier! I'm glad you enjoyed it.
i was gonna say the same thing lol. this movie has the guiness record for most swear words in an animated movie, containing 399 swears (including 144 F-words).
@@MJAussie360 That's the point Jen is making; other channels manage to get away with a lot more for unknown reasons. I've seen it elsewhere too. Brandon Likes Movies stopped uploading reactions entirely because some of his videos were getting flagged even without ANY footage in them, while other reactors can sometimes upload reactions with 30+ minutes of footage in them.
Blame Canada was nominated for best original song at the Oscars, and Robin Williams performed it at the ceremony. It’s definitely worth checking out, along with the drug- fueled Oscar red carpet interviews with Trey Parker and Matt Stone in evening gowns.
True fact: This was one of my mother's favorite movies, alongside Sound of Music, and West Side Story. She always laughed at the "Kyle's Mom Is A Bitch" song. My mother has passed away, and this reaction triggered a wonderful memory. Thank you.😢
I remember watching this movie at a sleepover, with one of us guarding the door so that no parents could barge in and catch us looking at inappropriate content!
The first time I watched this movie, probably a year after it released, one of my friends was sleeping over. We laughed for 10 minutes straight at Conan leaping to his death and the guy turning off the car alarm. That one scene was the hardest I've ever laughed at a movie in my life.
You (and your editor) deserve a huge round of applause - you both did a great job with this movie! The songs in this film were all catchy and the random directions this film goes are all hilarious. Blame Canada!
EASY 10/10. Nearly every joke hits. Every character gets something to do. Breezy runtime. Surprisingly thoughtful commentary on freedom of speech, censorship and toxic relationships. Absolutely EXCELLENT songs. I can't believe how good the South Park movie is.
It must be hard enough just to get a musical reaction uploaded, factor in 399 swear words, 199 offensive gestures and 221 acts of violence, and you’ve got a full time job 😂 Really well done on the editing to still keep all the plot points. Matt and Trey worked so hard to get this down to an R rating in the US. The MPAA kept on giving it an NC17 certificate due to the profanity, which Matt and Trey knew would not make the film viable at the box office. Hence, the line near the end of the film about the MPAA saying violence is ok as long as nobody swears. Brian Boitano one of the few people to be portrayed favourably. He brought out a TV cooking show called “what would Brian Boitano make”.
I remember being in the theater and when they started singing the second or third song I said to myself "Oh, it's a musical. Of course it is, awesome."
I saw this in the theater. I saw a mother take her daughter and leave not long after the second song. After that, the projector broke, and we all got vouchers for another show. I went back and watched the whole movie. It's hilarious.
Easily one of the funniest movies ever. The creators couldn't care less about the controversy Bigger, Longer and Uncut made. They wanted to make it just as funny as the show, and they succeeded.
I went to this movie at the theater. Just before the trailers, this old man and woman came in and sat 3 rows in front of me. I thought to myself, "Do they know what kind of film this is?" It started out okay, but by the time the song "Uncle F***er" came on, those 2 old people got up and walked out. I guess they didn't know what "South Park" was and must have thought it was just a cartoon.
South Park has had some truly epic stories over the years. One of my all time favourites is the episode where the boys fake Butter's death so that he can pretend to be a female exchange student, and infiltrate the girl's sleep over party. Meanwhile, his distraught parents bury what they think are his remains in that old Indian graveyard. Awesome stuff.
Wow Jen actually knew who Brian Boitano was; must be a fellow Canadian who also watched the men’s figure skating competitions back in the day. Given the age of the movie and the time frame when Boitano was at his peak, most younger people don’t have a clue.
Jen, a massive thnkyou to your ALL of your team who edited this so that we caould all see your reaction. You always make me smile, and I am sure that I am not the only subscriber who feels the benefit of having you in our lives. x
A belated Happy Canada Day, Jen. It's always fun to watch Canadians react to this. Kudos for recognizing that the surgeon was voiced by Clooney. Spoth Park hasn't made it to Broadway yet but it's creators have. Matt Stone and Trey Parker were two of three that wrote the hit "The Book of Mormon".
Half the joy of watching reactions to this on RU-vid is seeing how the editors tying themselves into knots trying to put something up that still makes some sort of narrative sense. Good job here.
Only Trey and Matt can get me to love a musical and buy the OST. Edit - 6:42 Yes that's George Clooney... previously known as Sparky. Star Trek's Brent Spiner and the creator of Beavis and Butt-Head, Mike Judge, also lend their voice... oh, and Saddam Hussein!
Yes, it was really George Clooney. He also did the sounds for Sparky The Gay Dog on the tv series. Oh, and Blame Canada was actually nominated for an Academy Award for best song and was sang by Robin Williams at the Oscars.
That's really George Clooney. He was one of the Hollywood people who shared the VHS tape that started it all, and then agreed to play the gay dog "Sparky" in S1 E4 in which he does nothing but make dog noises. Then Parker and Stone took a shit on him a few years later by using a recording of his actual Oscar acceptance speech which contributes to an entire cloud of poisonous "smug." Clooney took it all in stride. Kudos all around -- including you for making this reaction work!
Made it through with all of the mutes and blurs. Joke's on RU-vid: I already knew the naughty parts. I'm just glad you got to do this one. It's an awesome musical.
It's all because of advertising. Certain brands want to appear exclusively on family-friendly content and are therefore really sensitive to anything crossing that line. Whereas if you're already established as a channel aimed at adults with swearing etc from day one then those kind of advertisers won't be on your channel demographics in the first place.
I had quotes from this movie as .wav files to replace all the sounds on my computer back in the day. (and quotes from Spaceballs) Having my computer boot-up with the Bill Gates quote always made my day!
this movie is so great,, the more often i see it the more i like it!!!! and how on earth did they make all the songs so damn catchy amazing job with this movie
Proud to say I've owned this and the Chef Aid soundtracks for almost 25 years and still listen to both. Chef Aid is actually a pretty solid a-list soundtrack. A lot of great musicians.
Thats a great reaction Jen. FUN FACT: Kinda like how the boys entered the movie to see the Terrence and Phillip movie.. Around the same time the South Park Movie hit theaters, kids and teenagers purchased tickets to see "Wild Wild West" and sneak in to see the South Park movie, which is why Wild WIld West sold well despite its poor reception with the critics. Also, The songs really were memorable. Especially the song "Blame Canada" was nominated for an Academy Award for Best Original Song, but lost to Phil Collins "You'll be in my Heart" from Tarzan (1999) Stone and Parker.. REALLY ridiculed Collins in a few episodes of season 4 after that
Brilliant reaction Jen I knew you would love it. If RU-vid have any issues with it just show the DVD cover at the beginning and have the rest of the clip with you just laughing 🤣. Oh and I have a question for you... What would Brian Boitano do?
Saw this movie twice in one day when it came out. First at work on the Paramount lot, then with a group of ten lesbians, my neighbor across the hall and her friends (I’m a straight white dude), when I got home and they were all drinking and then walking to the local theater to see it. It was just as hilarious the second time around. Hard to pick between this and Team America for best Matt and Trey film. George Clooney starred on the medical drama ‘ER’ for years, and was known for being over dramatic. That was his real voice.
I saw this in the theater, and watching confused parents, hurriedly ushering their kids out of an R-rated movie, made it even more hilarious and punk rock.
For swearing in a cartoon, you have to have over 400 swear words to get an NC-17 rating, which limits film distribution. So to avoid the NC-17 rating, the movie has exactly 399 swear words.
I love that Matt Stone said in an interview that one of the greatest moments in his life was watching an entire symphony orchestra performing "Uncle F**ker"
Jen, Blame Canada! was actually one of the songs nominated for the Academy Awards. They got none other than Robin Williams to perform it live at the 2000 Oscar ceremonies. You can see it on YT. Great job on a very difficult edit for sure, m'kay?? 😄
*_Fun Fact:_* While you won't find 'It's Easy, M'kay' at a Broadway show, Robin Williams actually performed 'Blame Canada' at the Oscars around 20 years ago.
Now that you've seen this, you need to witness the comedic genius that is BASEketball (1998). It stars the creators of South Park as the leads. Fact: The creators had to deal with the MPA do deal with avoiding the movie getting an NC-17 film. If the film got 400 swear words, it would get the rating. The amount in this film? 399.
I love the comedy and social/political observations in South Park, but I love the brilliantly catchy yet bizarre original songs even more. One of my absolute favorites is "Let's Fighting Love" from the episode "Good Times With Weapons" which will make you want to rock out, and it perfectly imitates the rock songs that proliferated in 90's action anime right down to mangled Japanglish lyrics. You should check out the South park 25th Anniversary Live Concert on RU-vid.
“Is that the only time he’s talked?” At the time this movie came out I remember people taking about that. Everyone i was friends with were dying to see what he looked and sounded like. Of course he looks and sounds like all south park characters but it was still awesome. Since then he has talked a couple times. I only remember the epsiode with michael jackson where kenny disguises himself as mj son blanket tho. Then he got thrown through the roof and died lol best show ever
South Park started out with a Christmas Cartoon that was super popular in Hollywood, and Clooney was one of their biggest fans. So he was the voice of Stan's Dog where all he does is bark.
The show is so worth watching, just start from season 1 episode 1 and just watch the show evolve from there. One of the best tv shows ever made, period. 😁
The movie was given an NC 17 rating due to the strong graphic language and in order to get an R Rating, they had to cut down some of the swears. It was nominated for Best Original Song, "Blame Canada."
Note: -Originally on the show, Terrence and Phillip was a poorly-animated show in-universe, but then it was later retconned that Canadians looked like Terrence and Phillip in "real life" -Eric Idle from Monty Python voiced the doctor that installed Cartman's V-chip, while Mike Judge voiced Kenny with his hood off -There's a post-credits scene of Ike still in the attic eating a mouse
The music in this IS outstanding. While I don’t believe this itself is a broadway play, the writers of South spark also wrote Book of Mormon which is a broadway musical! I highly recommend it!
The doctor was Clooney. He was an early supproter of the show. Minnie Driver voiced Brooke Shields and Brent Spiner (Data from Star Trek) did Conan O'Brien. Kenny was also voiced by Mike Judge (Beavis and Butthead. Office Space, Idoicracy)
I saw this film in the theater, and in the audience that rolled in was a woman with three little kids, maybe nine years old at the oldest and thought 'oh man, the kids are gunna get scarred for life' because I was fairly certain that they just were into the SP merchandise and not the actual content of the show... and when the film ended I saw them walk into the lobby from the theater and I couldn't believe that she stayed with the kids to the end; it was absolutely hilarious seeing the look of bewilderment on her face.
The Doctor was voiced by Clooney. In Season 1, the studio wanted them to have a celebrity guest, which the creators didn't want, so they got George Clooney to voice a (gay) dog whose only lines were growls and grunts. This is Clooney's "other" character in the franchise.
It was George Clooney. He also voiced Sparky, Stan's gay dog in episode 4 of the series. Clooney was a very early supporter of South Park, sending the Spirit of Christmas video clip to his friends 2 years before South Park aired.
I think this was before you got into Star Trek. But at the end Satan throws Saddam back into hell going "I ... HAVE... HAD.. ENOUGH.. OF...... YOU.." doing the same pauses and inflection that Kirk did on the Genesis planet before he kicked Commander Krug into the chasm in "Star Trek III".
Well, you can't see 'South Park' on stage..yet. However, you can see 'The Book of Mormon' which was written by Trey Parker, Matt Stone, and Robert Lopez. It is one of the longest-running musicals on Broadway, and is on tour everywhere. The score for the show is filled with amazing songs that are hummable and hysterical. It won a ton of Tonys and other theatrical awards when it opened. It also launched the career of Josh Gad (the voice of Olaf in the 'Frozen' franchise). Lopez is an EGOT, having won an Emmy, a Grammy, an Oscar, and a Tony...he wrote the music for the stage musical 'Avenue Q' (which is like Sesame Street on a bender), and the Disney films 'Frozen' 1 & 2, and 'Coco'.
Yeah at this point it was. In fact I'm pretty sure that they had Mike Judge come in and provide the voice of Kenny for that one line. Who created and voiced Beavis and Butthead and King of the Hill.
Jen, this movie is genius. I saw it when it was in theaters. Half the crowd walked out of the movie, dragging their young children with them, when the “Uncle Fucker” song started. Life was literally imitating art. Laughed my ass off. Who takes their 7 yr old to an R rated movie? Smdh… 😂😂😂
Kenny goes on to become "Mysterion" protector of the night where it shows his face, but all the characters look identical without their hair. Except Eric and his big bones
399 censored parts, how do I know before watching? The creators were told by the MPAA that if there were more than 400 curse words it would be given an NC-17 rating, so Matt & Trey put in 399.
