I love the nonsense explanation for the Pirate Ghosts being done with q-tips and squirrels. It's mocking the way Scooby-Doo mysteries would have some ridiculous answer as to how the culprit fooled everyone, like the ghost was a perfect hologram, or the flying monster flew using some anti-gravity device. And Velma would explain it like it was all perfectly obvious and normal.
Haha It reminds me of the Snow Ghost episode of Scooby Doo. I had it on tape as a kid. He could fly. The explanation was that this mf had “clear skis”. And nobody had any questions about that.
Fun facts on this episode: •The argument over whether or not the ghosts are Pirate Ghosts or Ghost Pirates was an actual debate between Korn, Trey Parker and Matt Stone. • When the boys are digging up Kyle's grandma, next to her headstone, two of the other headstones are clearly written on. The one on the right says "Kenny 2000" and the one on the left says "Kenny 1999." • In one scene, Korn can briefly be heard playing a piece from Skyler Morse's song "Shelly, Shelly" from Cat Orgy (1999). • The Captain of the Ghost Pirates is named "Captain Blind", as a track on Korn's debut album is titled "Blind." Similarly, when Kyle cries about his lost grandmother, Fieldy says "Aw, I hate to see little clowns cry." "Clown" is another track on Korn's debut album. • This is the last Halloween special until Hell on Earth 2006 (2006). This is the only Halloween special with guest stars. Also, the Halloween version of the show's intro is used for the last time here.
I have some fun facts on this episode (huge Korn fan here): When the band first recorded their voices for this episode, the whole time someone forgot to hit record so they had to go back and do it all over again. Also, when they first recorded their voices Trey Parker told them to "stop acting like gay surfers" loool
The ending was basically what they did in Scooby-Doo when the Gang describe how the "bad guys" would do all the special effects to scare off people, so Korn just using random items on how they did it in South Park was the joke on the effects used.
“Are you being a good boy Kyle? Are you making grandma proud?” I was super into Korn when I first saw this episode. It’s hilarious that Fieldy is Velma.
15:00 But Officer Barbrady WAS the voice of reason in this instance. It would be foolish to try to tip that van any other way. It's nice to see him be helpful for once.
to expand on this, the episode aired October 27th 1999, the Album "Issues" released on November 16th 1999, so it was almost 3 weeks before the album launch since CD's launch on Tuesdays and the show Aired on Wednesdays.
South Park Halloween episodes in order!!!! • S21 E6: Sons of witches • S22 E4: Tegridy farms ( it’s not a Halloween episode, I want to watch this first after u watch the scoots episode) • S22 E5: the scoots • S23 E5: Tegridy farms Halloween special
Each of the 4 boys has their own cute little plot, which get wrapped up during Falling Away From Me: - Kenny wants to win the costume contest. - Stan wants to scare the 5th Graders. - Kyle has qualms about using his grandma's body for this. - Cartman thinks his mom's blow-up doll is a Christmas present for him. Hardly Shakespeare, but it's fun to see all the boys have their own little plot come out of the main plot. Another episode that does this is the Ziplining episode!
I think "How do you feel about Christmas/Holiday Music?" tells you whether someone has worked retail and for how long. It is a litmus test of humanity.
What I love about this episode is that is shows Stan can be just as twisted as Cartman with his ideas and the two share a similar sense of humor. We don’t see too many episodes or scenes with Stan and Cartman so this is always a silly episode to show how the two can get along and how that affects Kyle.
For more Halloween episodes that you haven't done already, there's: Hell on Earth 2006 (Season 10, episode 11) Sons a Witches (Season 21, episode 6) The Scoots (Season 22, episode 5) Tegridy Farms Halloween Special (Season 23, episode 5)
They predicted the Bird as part of the original Mystery Inc team before the Scooby-Doo crew we know today as in the series from around 2014/15, they gave a back story where the one of the teams had a bird. Definitely a series I recommend watching. And I believe Korn actually did the voices of themselves.
I still say Weird Al should take the lead of artists making Thanksgiving songs to offset Christmas music until December 1st so we don't have to listen to music for two friggin months
this was the first time i recognized greatness in a cartoon. i don't listen to korn beyond their 3~5 big songs, but they debuted Falling Away From Me in this episode I believe. the absurdity with the ghosts, "YOU SON OF A BITCH CHICKEN FROM OUTER SPACE", love everything about this episode.
You missed Kenny's Death Scene, it happens after the credits start. Also Kenny was the ED-209 from Robocop and you'll probably get the reference for how he is killed.
The 60s show always had silly reasons at the reveal part near the end. It’s just classic South Park fashion to make it even more ridiculous than it was. I think it’s so stupid that it works
3:00 - Nah, Korn isn't like that. If Gaahl and Gorgoroth are coming to South Park, then, then we'd have to talk!! I mean for context just YT, the 23 second clip: Gaahl Satan Episodes 10 and 11; a two-parter, from Season 12, titled: Pandemic and Pandemic 2: The Startling; Not that pandemic, this was 2008 :D
Korn was never demonic or satanic even by Christian standards. They were dark and heavy but the lyrical content was more dealing with struggles with addiction, mental trauma and social ostracism
Loved the reaction! This episode was really good and i loved the Scooby Doo vibes a lot considering i grew up with Scooby Doo. Also, your right, the song Korn sang was an actual song by Korn called "Falling Away from em". Keep up the great content bro!
Halloween is an old Celtic tradition. The reason why they dress up & leave out Jack O Lanterns outside their houses is to ward off evil spirits & scare them off
@@DisfunktionalTV it's all good 😂. I do hope you go down the Korn rabbit hole. Chi is my favorite song due to the emotion in his voice and guitar but these are their most popular ones: freak on a leash, falling away from me, twisted transistor, coming undone, blind, make me bad, somebody someone, here to stay. Every song on that list is a totally different unique vibe. Hope you give them a chance man. Thanks for all the great videos. It's fun diving down the south park rabbit hole with you haha. I think you would enjoy disenchantment too (goofy midevil times cartoon bit of a wild ride definitely have to check it out in order).
I’ve worked in grocery stores for years and they always play Christmas songs every season. But only if they play it constantly with no non-Christmas songs in between, it irritates the shit outta me
I work retail, and i dread the Christmas music. Its like, the day after halloween. I do, however, try and retend its like, im a Christmas elf and im working the shop. I like but, damn man. Like you said. Give me a week or two
For the record there is nothing evil about the band Korn's music. They're not like Marilyn Manson or some other band that folks is on evil things. Korn sings more about mental illness and depression and messed up childhoods. It's dark music for sure but not something that I would expect anybody to see as even if they were to really listen to it and read the lyrics
I used to love korn. No they weren't devil worshipers lol. But society for sure didn't like them and thought they reached violence. They were actually the complete opposite. Sidenote..that's actually korn voicing themselves in the episode.
It was meant to be lame and over the top, because when the Scooby gang back then would show off how certain things we're done it was also over the top and a lot of the time impossible to explain.
Yo D TV if you’re if you read this, I want to let you know that I really love your channel and if I might make a suggestion I think more inside job would be really good to see please and thank you
I think the delivery guy was lowkey a joke on being Erics potential dad. I know they have established who his actual dad was already in the show but listen to the way he tells Cartman to sign -here-. Dude says it the same way Cartman does.
For the record Koran music is very heavy but they are not satanic. In fact one of the members is a professing Christian and became one after the band was already famous. I b
Only thing I didn’t like is how the sixth graders are just there at the start but aren’t mentioned after that, the ending kind of felt a bit rushed and not thought out. We never got closure for the ending which could’ve been wrapped up.
