The reason Eric came in last for the special Olympics was because he was out of shape and never exercise Whereas while handicapped all special Olympics contestants are trained or have trained and worked their bodies to be able to handle the rigour and stress of the events The joke of the episode is that Eric thinks he will beat the handicapped cause their inferior, then gets his ass handed to him because they are still athletes and he isn't.
