In this episode, Gerald buys a hybrid car and buys into the whole progressive movement, moving his family from Park County, Colorado to San Francisco, California and disturbing a delicate equilibrium and indirectly causing an environmental disaster along the way. The episode acts as a play on the attitude of owners of hybrid cars, as well as the similarity between the words "smog" and "smug".

I was a young teen when I visited San Francisco in 2005. I saw my first ever trans person on ash berry street. Then another and another. A total of 5 in 1 hour. I wasn’t prepared for the cultural differences

It's not that SF is polluted, it's that it's often foggy there for being close to the sea. Oftentimes the bay area will be completely sunny with clear skies while SF has this huge fog over it. It can look quite ominous at times lol

4:31 Ike is voiced by one of the creator's daughters. Googled it, she is 10 now and now I feel old cause I started watching South park at 10... Season 1 lolol Edit: also why the voice varies from toddler to kindergartner sounding... depending on the season the kid is growing up, then gets bored and replaced by some other staffer's baby. I'm curious now if any of the previous Ike Voice actors cameo to voice out of town characters...

Ike had like a dozen voice actors across the seasons. If the girl is 10 now, then the math doesn't quite work, unless she started acting before being conceived.

It’s almost like the real reason people don’t buy hybrids is because they’re too expensive and not worth it. Getting it made cause a lot of pollution. Hybrids saving the planet are a myth.
