A trip around the islands in some cracking weather. Got a slight bit of sunburn & I was wearing factor 50, must've sweated it off! Stopped at South Stradbrook Island to go to the beach & have lunch, had the whole beach to myself! Returned up the west side of North Straddie, passing Lamb, Macleay, Russell & Karragarra Islands. Making use of the marine maps & the navigation beacons to find my way in the maze of islands that all look the same to me. I need extra batteries for the GoPro, I'm not able to film as much content as I'd like. Sound isn't great in the videos, I do have some microphones, but to attach them means the GoPro is no longer waterproof. I think next time I'll try a little voice recorder that I have.

Thanks Gerard 👍 Have you managed to get out in your boat, or are you still locked down? I lose track of who's in lockdown!

@@hotpotato70 Cheers Rob. Our Premier announces next level of eased restrictions which means I should be able to get out next weekend which will be fantastics! We had ZERO cases for 8 straight days now and we only have 8 active cases overall. I get the outboard (Tohatsu 9.8 2 stroke) serviced on Wed, the Discovery registered Thursday and then good to go! I will get the GoPro working and get some footage to show you. Take care Rob! Gerard

@@gerardwall8847 That's excellent, be good to see your video footage too. I'm hoping my next trip to try & find some dolphins 🐬

Hi Rob, great videos cheers. I'm looking at getting one of those inflatables. Have you ever crossed over to Moreton Island?
@hotpotato70
@hotpotato70 2 года назад
Thanks Andrew. Yes I went over to Moreton Island, but it was a bit choppy, so I turned back. I'd have pressed on to land on the shore if I knew it was deep enough, but it was very shallow where I was, so thought it best to head for safer waters. Easily doable though, the True Kits seem pretty capable.

@@hotpotato70 I'm from redcliffe so I think the depth is fine. It's really just the time it takes, qty fuel and chop out in the middle of the bay. Do you ever get up to Redcliffe? I would love to see it up close. Kind regards

try "the bedrooms" for a good spot. nobody will nick anything out there, boaties are pretty trustworthy. there is a boat buried under the sand on the northern tip of south straddie, close to where you were. nip round to tipplers. try the lakes and the small channels that only you and jetskis could get to. Some areas will get shallow so go for high tide.

How was the ride, everything stayed dry?
@hotpotato70
@hotpotato70 2 года назад
Yes, everything stays pretty dry, occasionally get a bit of spray, but generally you don't get water coming in. I put my stuff in a big dry bag just to be sure. I put a hydrofoil on the engine, made the ride smoother.

Hey mate. How did you go with delivery to Australia, I’m just about to order one and am wondering what to expect.
@hotpotato70
@hotpotato70 3 года назад
It's quite expensive, I think True Kit said it would cost $272 in total for delivery. What wasn't mentioned was the tax you have to pay to import into Australia, which was something like $600. True Kit refund the NZ tax, or deduct it from the cost of the boat.
@shane0yourgod
@shane0yourgod 3 года назад
@@hotpotato70 thanks for the reply. Yeah they said they would deduct the 15% NZ gst and then the Australian tax is added. They also said it gets delivered to your door. How did you pay the Aussie tax? Did you get a bill or did you have to pay it before the boat was delivered to you?
@hotpotato70
@hotpotato70 3 года назад
@@shane0yourgod you get an emailed bill from the government, I think it's from customs & you have to pay it before they'll release it, then it'll be delivered to your door.

@@hotpotato70 thanks mate. I appreciate your time. I’m looking at buying the 4m discovery. How have you found the 3.3? Any recommendations or things a buyer should be aware of?
@hotpotato70
@hotpotato70 3 года назад
@@shane0yourgod I enjoyed it, but I've no longer got it. I pretty much went everywhere I wanted to go & also got feed up cleaning it, it'd be so much easier if it was on a trailer. I tried to get a trailer for a soft inflatable, but they're hard to come by, probably would have to buy a trailer & modify it.
