During the weekend of the 27th and 28th January 2024, Southampton Model Railway Society hosted their Southampton Model Railway Exhibition at Barton Peveril Collage in Eastleigh.
These videos are the highlights of the layouts which were filmed at the event and are in order of appearance in the video.

Wimbourne - (OO Fine Scale - Wmbourne Railway Society)

Newvaddon Parkway - (N Gauge - Redruth Model Railway Club)

Penworth - (N Gauge - Mark Butler)
Foxbury - (3mm Scale, TT3 Gauge - Bob Brown)
*There was two layouts with the same name but 2 different gauges)

Thanks Middleport Junction, Portsea is a layout that I do like. But there was some lovely layouts on display as well.

INCREDIBLE !!! Amusing some of the really silly mistakes made ! At 13:10 a "Terrier" arrives at Hayling Island pulling two (Hornby) SR Maunsell coaches. The Daft mistake is that the owner of these coaches has not removed the "Corridor Gangway Smut Covers" between the two coaches. They have to be removed between vehicles as there presence prevents the coaches being coupled & of course prevents passengers passing between the coaches. Further these light weight screens would get damaged, if you tried to couple two such vehicles together. And on the Hornby model you are of course supposed to remove them to reveal the actual gangway doors behind. These "smut screens" were ONLY USED on the outer ends of a train of carriages, to prevent glowing smuts from the loco, getting into the canvas bellows of the sprung Gangway connection, which could start a fire !! NOTE: The SR, LNER, BR & Pullman Company Ltd, used Buckeye Auto couplers, & Pullman Semi-rigid Gangways. The GWR & LMS however used traditional "Screwlink" chain type couplers & British Standard Suspension (BSS) gangways. So in normal service you COULD NOT mix vehicles from the two systems in one train !!! Funny I knew about these two systems & how they functioned by the time I was ten years old. From watching the goings on in Clapham Junction carriage sidings at weekends !!!!
