Leicester and Southampton getting promoted was no surprise. Leeds failing in the play offs also was no surprise, but, Ipswich keeping pace with, and beating 2 parachute payment clubs to promotion, was a breath of fresh air. McKenna seems to be going to sign a long term contract at Portman Road so the future of Ipswich is bright. I expect Leeds to lick their wounds and slaughter the Championship next season along with 1 of the relegated clubs. Great podcast from both of you. More of the same next season please.
I feel your pain, I am only here to hear about Leeds' inevitable end of season bottle job. Good odds on a Town promotion / Leeds relegation next year. UTT
Liked this show all season. Don’t always agree with the views but we all have our views and are entitled to them. Was at Wembley to see my Saints promoted after not missing a game home and away all season. After last season a breath of fresh air. Keep up the good work Gents.
You have been fantastic all season but as a Leeds fan not ready for this yet was at Wembley on Sunday with one of my lads which were good memories pre game at least. See you next season maybe more pain and pleasure but who knows
Thanks guys for bringing the best podcast to us all season really appreciate the effort you both put in and looking forward to next season can't think of anything I would change between you both the chemistry and format just works all the best
Bella kotchap Alcaraz onuachu caleta car perraud lyanco all to come back to Southampton from loan which is a massive bonus to go to the Premier league with Iand a few astute signings and I think we'll be fine anywhere above the bottom 3 will be a success for me
Cheers Ben and Sam for the content all season. Really disappointing for us Leeds supporters in the end but we'll go again next season and hopefully get up next season. All the best.
Great analysis of the game guys. We’ve allowed Leeds to have the ball in all 3 games this season and won all 3. Thought Leeds missed Bamford and we contained the front 3 brilliantly
Archie Gray has said that doesn't want to go. Leeds value him at £35m to £40m. Because of his family connections Archie says that he doesn't want to leave, he's a big fan too.
@@leeevans9654 if they didn't need or want to sell but he really wanted to step up for the good of his career, a loan with a fee would be the best short term option
Superb assessment of Sunday's game and Farkes inflexibility with his tactics which is the major criticism from Leeds supporters along with poor in game management and use of the bench. Deserves the first quarter of next season.
To be fair Southampton are bar that mid 2000s drop, are a Prem team, Leeds are a championship club, its a wake up call for the saints, a lesson not learned from nearly two decades ago whilst its back to normality for Leeds, should have been more expectation on the Saints going back up than Leeds
Set pieces have been a problem for us (Leeds) for many seasons both defensively, where we concede far too many, and in attack, where we rarely profit from them. Puzzling why we never seem to address this issue. Our delivery of the ball is generally poor. We need more physicality up front and in defence. This one issue costs us massively.
I really hope it goes well for Rooney, much more respect for his approach than Lampard or Gerrard who used their names to get jobs way above their ability and experience.
i think the appointment of Wayne at my club could work out.he is working with a coach in Kevin nancekivell who knows the club like the back of his hand.he may not be the fans favourite but now he is here we have to give him a chance.he has not gone there for the money.some if not all the players would love working with him.simon hallett said that he was the outstanding candidate.he was way ahead of more experienced manager s.as Simon says we live and breathe green blood and make our feelings none when things go wrong.we can just hope that this doesn't turn out to be another foster debacle. ..
It seems like the top clubs are now trying to nab the up and coming coaches early, rather than waiting for them to prove themselves at a higher level with a mid sized club like Brighton first, which was the way in the past. Cutting out the middle man. Why though? To save money must be a part of it. Cheaper to poach Championship managers than PL ones and FFP is becoming more of a concern for all clubs.
Does anyone know what would have happened if let’s say for shits and giggles Coventry got to FA cup final and then got to Play off final im guessing Play off final would have been moved to mid week
Looking at managers over several decades, why don't strikers, on the whole, make successful managers? There may be the odd exception to the rule, but defenders and midfielders seem to be more successful
Think I saw a different game... Leeds on top upto the goal, Saints better after goal. In 2nd half Saints very defensive... didn't offer anything. If that James shot goes in we'd all be saying why were Saints so negative
Leeds were poor, Southampton got a goal and for almost all of the second half defended all second half with 5 at the back. Southampton set up to injure Gnonto and every time Leeds looked like getting through the Leeds player was fouled and stopped at all costs. Downe's made 7 or 8 fouls and got away with it before he was finally yellow carded with minutes remaining, not surprised with the ref, just the usual that we get. Had the James shot gone in instead of crashing off the bar it could have made it interesting. "slightly unjust"? Really? Well only one team attacked in the second half.
