Southern California Beach Town Virtual Cycling: Oxnard Shores, Hollywood Beach, Silver Strand (4K) 

This was a phenomenal journey that took me back to my youth, with nothing but great memories! I'm 75 now, and grew up with the surf crew at Hollywood-by-the-Sea, at the south jetty, beginning in1963. My folks rented a beach house for a year on Ocean Avenue, about half way between the harbors; they then purchased a house on Anacapa Street, where I lived until 1970 (no supervision, charge account at the corner market, and great waves). Without waxing poetic, it's amazing to think about the changes that have occurred there over the years, and what it was like from the beginning. Socially insular, and completely isolated.
