In Dallas, Tx, from 30 years ago, I remember the high school bands playing "neck", and opening my window and hearing these cadences, from a few blocks away.🔥🔥🔥
So quick to LOVE OUR MUSIC and dance but feel they are superior....notice...not a black face in the crowd!!! This dam American nightmare we face daily!!!
Lisa Richardson I know I wish so as well, unfortunately the dolls (as mostly all other collegiate dance lines) are an auxiliary unit to which they mostly perform for university sanctioned events i.e bayou classic parade
So u auditioned and didnt make it huh Ainsley? #haterfornoreason #jealousmuch #bigmadorlilmad? #AWHOLELOTTAMAD #ADOLLSTOLEYOMANHUH #YOUTHEONLYONEDICKRIDING #bitterpartyofone
When you KNOW a Band Is Gonna Have a Dynamite Season This Fall: Human Jukebox has everybody at the BR St. Patty's Day Parade singing Talkin' Out the Side of Ya' Neck
Yes Southern University Human Jukebox is the baddest in the land but LSU fan have to admit it sound better with The Human Jukebox and there chant. LSU did there's good as well but Southern University hands down. Give them there RESPECT.
@@trevorbilliot2625 The song is talking about the socioeconomic woes of black and colored people. LSU is telling people to suck a tiger's dick and calling them a bitch. Sounds pretty disrespectful to me.
Wheat Getter not in the 0 quarter(pregame) n 5th quarter(postgame) also how yall baseball team did vs SU?? Football and MAYBE basketball yall got that but leave neck to the REAL BAND EVERYONE CALLS FOR...
JDgStatuZ nobody calls for southern. And when the one person does, it’s a mistake. You can take pregame when your drum major tosses the mace 40 feet in the air and you’ve been doing the same pregame tradition for over 80 years. Is southern even that old? The reason we don’t do 5th quarter is because our away bands are usually pep bands because they have to travel from other states usually to come play us so it would be unfair to them. Plus our games usually end at 11 at night. We don’t do 2:30 kickoffs regularly😂
ASK YOURSELF HOW DIV CONFERENCE TITLES DO SU HAVE? THEN HOW MANY LSU HAVE. THEN ASK YOURSELF HOW MANY NATIONAL TITLES THEY HAVE? THEN ASK YOURSELF HOW MANY BOWL GAMES SU WON? THEN ASK YOURSELF HOW MANY CSB TITLES DO SU HAVE. There's a corner over there sit there don't move.
LSU marched in Zulu and we marched in St. Patty’s parade. Never woulda thought lol. They love our band but not the school. They take our song though...
Jazz504 Not your song. People don’t own music, it’s free for everyone to play and to celebrate cultures. We don’t love the band because they sound awful and if they did, they wouldn’t be chanting STTDB to a jaguar band. The school is take or leave though. I personally frown at any school whose music education program is 5 years instead of 4 but that’s just me
Trevor Billiot it’s a part of HBCU culture! Y’all really annoy me with that shit. Like y’all don’t know what black culture is! And the sad part is y’all don’t even know the MEANING behind the song.
That day those white people heard what a real marching band sounds like, and saw how a real marching bands looks and march’s. It’s funny how LSU see themselves as greatness when they never played for MUTIPLE presidents, never played at a super bowl, and has never been voted best band in the nation.💪🏾👎🏻😂💛💙💛💙
Neil Foy it’s funny how southern see themselves as greatness when they never won a national championship to my memory. Presidents have never come to watch their football games because southern football isn’t worth watching and it’s definitely not worth having my ears bleed due to the band. We’ve played for the president, twice now. And that’s just this year. When has southern ever been voted the best at anything and by who? You’re racist
Zackry Paul that where you’re wrong. There are things you do that are tradition and the you do that are culture. Neck to you is just a song. To us it’s a part of our culture. You come in and take something that’s a part of our culture and make disrespectful to listen to. You even say the disrespectful stuff in front of your women and kids in 50 to 100,000 seat stadiums. So not only are you disrespectful to our culture you’re disrespecting yours!!!!
I still haven't figured out the "words" to either (or any). The original Cameo song says "Hey You, you're talking at the side of your neck". But I'm pretty sure that's not the chant here. Care to tell the LSU and SU versions (or others)?
@@hiitsmorgan5431 lmao. U have no idea what hbcu bands are about and what is coming to lsu. Whenever an hbcu band is in front of u, it will always be a battle. Welcome to the hbcu band world.
It's ok for us to perform in there parades . It's ok for us to play on their teams and not be owners . It's ok for us to entertain them while they build up the LSU campus and use our kids as there entertainment . While we spend our tax dollars in their stores on there side of town in their mall . When north baton rouge is falling farther behind economically . But let's pay the band to come perform for our st Patrick's day parade . When the parade is over those kids will realize the difference between southern University campus and lay campus . Let's demand better from the city . Let's not just be their entertainment . Let's ask for stores in the black community . Let's ask for better housing on the north side of baton rouge . When the parade was over things went back to status quo . You go over to your side of Baton Rouge where things are bad subpar restaurant's if any . Stores where the people who own them charge a much higher price for the goods and owners who don't look like us . Let's stop being entertainment for people who don't give equal to the city they claim to love .
The maxing thing is SU is played LSU’s band arrangement for they’re fans that’s not the arrangement that SU plays for they’re fans or perform regularly they only did that as a nod to LSU fans
tureal jones southern university didn’t perfect anything. They sound absolutely awful and definitely don’t have the best rendition of anything. All they do is play loud and they sacrifice tone quality and balance because of it
Marvin Price where are the dolls? Did they stop doing parades or something. This is weird cause the dolls isn’t there. I noticed they stopped doing Mardi Gras parades towards the end. What’s going on, is there a new rule or something?
Trevor Billiot but they were jamming to Southern playing! Y’all really refuse to give any HBCUs credit. Y’all know damn well where that song came from and what black/HBCU culture is.
Kay_J I’m not giving them any credit because they sound trash my guy, their tone quality is terrible have you heard it? But I’m confused, your other comment from 2 minutes ago said that I had no idea what black culture was and not this one is saying I know damn well what it is so which is it?
I love LSU but my heart runs deep in the HBCU schools from Louisiana(Grambling and Southern) and the HBCUs does Neck 10x better, but it's good seeing two fanbases from two different schools coming together on one song. STTDB with SU's version of Neck is music to my ears.
Man stfu, LSU will for ever be garbage because they will never have what black people have... soul. That’s the only reason LSU got a winning football team because of U.S💪🏾. Swear racist as white people hate us but stay stealing stuff from OUR culture👎🏻
Neil Foy “stealing stuff from our culture” ???? How can you steal an athlete ? Any athlete in Louisiana (that actually wants to be something in sports) would pick LSU over any college. Yeah the coaches give scholarships and offers but overall the player chooses where he/she wants to go so stop using that bullshit “They need our people” when in reality “our people” are going to LSU.
Neil Foy racism is a two way street buddy. If you’re feeling jealous for what lsu has then I understand but that’s why you gotta feel proud in what little southern has to offer. Athletes choose lsu not because they come from southern but because we’re #1. Also if you call blasting notes and just playing loud and unbalanced soul, then I really don’t want any soul. I’d rather have technical skill and good sound that only comes from years of practice. If that comes with people hating on you cause you can’t play loud enough that their ears bleed then fine. Stop making everything about race, that makes you look like a racist. Southern sounds trash musically. STTDB!
SAT Scott southern sounds like ass. They ain’t running circles around anyone. Maybe when they actually play with good tone and balance and they actually get woodwinds but that’s not gonna be for a long time
Good Sir, you must be young. Cameo's "Talkin' Out the Side of Your Neck" has been a staple for most HBCU bands for many years (over 30). Playing that song is not new for Southern. What's sad is schools like LSU and their alumni attempt to belittle schools like Southern and Grambling, while stealing their culture and putting it off as their own ("Neck" is a perfect example), and giving no credit where it is due.
Nobody...I mean Nobody fucking with SU neck. Not one band in America blowing neck like SU and I'm not a Southern fan but when SU play it they just got that sound dog. They just do. By the way I'm SOD all the way. I give SU props. They lethal with it. Make hair on yo neck stand up. Go head Jukebox...do yo thang. (SWAC)✊🏿✊🏿✊🏿✊🏿
SAT Scott nobody f-ing with southern because southern ain’t worth f-ing with. They sound terrible. At least you aren’t a southern fan like all the poor souls that are, we can agree on something
