That 'Like A Boy' was clean from PV.... I got PV for this one. SU is loud and powerful, but PV is precise and these arrangements are SLAPPING!! Looking forward to more of this program.
My God, PV who pissed y’all off? These arrangements got me running all through this damn house. I love it let’s keep this going. SU got caught sleeping
Not Going To Say Pv Was Cleaner But Their Selection Was Better Than Southern! However Southern I Can’t Believe Them Trumpets Struggling N Skating And The Fact It’s To many of them is what’s hurting southern! Southern Sound As A Whole Is The Shit But Why Nobody playing together it seems Asf Pv Wanted This Battle More Than Them! Ijs
B4 I make this comment, I wanna let evb know that I am speaking from a perspective that has no favoritism as far as both of these bands. Southern university has been on a downward trend this year, but fixing it has been a real issue, which can be seen and heard throughout the game, especially this 5th quarter with skating, however they did a fantastic job this game overall, now with PV, they did an outstanding job as far as playing as a band and not letting a band like southern scare them, they fixed their trumpets from last year, every section got better too but the trumpets really improved. They kept their energy high throughout this battle, now they had a lot of skating issues too, but they are still improving. Now as far as execution, southern and pv had their problems, but you gotta remember that pv is not a band like southern last year, southern been like what they are for a while, so with people who have done stuff like this b4 compared to what pv is trying to do, so I would give it to pv, also the arrangements that they have is better, way better, like these arrangements would be played by very powerful and outstanding bands like southern or jsu or maybe even Txsu, but not pv, and they are doing this against southern, and it is working, they were bringing heat to Southern the whole game with their new found strength that they have gained. Southern has been playing some new and some old stuff, however, they are powerful, so powerful that it can sometimes divert you attention from hearing people skating and wrong notes to just their raw power, however this appears to not be working because you can still hear moments where skating occurs in southern, and only a few people are actually trying to play, but with that size of a band and with the size of the individual sections, it just doesn’t sound like southern is trying to fix them, more like let everything overshadow these moments that people can clearly hear. But overall, I would actually give this to PV just because improvement and showing their power against southern and not letting them scare them, especially not over blowing the parts where skating occurs…
Honestly, this battle is actually a toss up. It's pretty astounding how loud and entertaining SU is, but I don't think any HBCU band this year has played anywhere close to as clean as PV just played. great job to both bands!
So Yall cats that compared this battle and PV to Alcorn straight disrespectful or you just don’t have a trained musical ear. Alcorn was sloppy as hell. I couldn’t even finish the battle. Really both bands were. But SU got the easy W. Don’t disrespect the Storm ⛈️ by comparing us to Alcorn. Come on mayne get real. Some years we been close to Alcorn but this year definitely not one of em. They having an off year just like Southern is. But still way cleaner and technical than Alcorn by a long shot. Just not PV. Im not gonna pick a winner cuz I’m Storm alumni and don’t wanna be biased but they definitely cleaner more focused on balance , blend, technique and musicality than last year. Listen at the articulation in round #2. Again great job Storm! Now Give FAMU 100 the blowout beat down they been deserving from us for years at the SWAC championship!!!⛈️⛈️⛈️💪🏽 That history and rivalry runs deeper than you know.
@@YourGoat803 southern won. That getaway was mid. Round two was mid. That wetter was mid af😂 and the last song was ass. PV sounds better than previous years but they didn’t win this battle at all
So my thoughts on this battle. In somewhere in the middle of a tie and weirdly leaning PV. I like SUs fullness but they dynamics and book are lacking. PV on the other hand had better dynamics and book but they lacked some good raw power. For pv size they was pushing and had good blend. But this battle depends on how you see it im seeing a tie or lean pv a bit…..
This was a lot closer than expected ngl. I enjoyed PV's selections, but their execution and blend, especially with trumpets and baris, hurt them a few times. Southern's new selections were, as a whole, just kinda eh, but they did sound better than what PV was putting out, and pulled away at the tail end of the battle with some stuff that they've been playing. Southern took this to me, barely. Hoping for a more memorable showing at Boombox. Looking forward to what PV has to offer if they see anyone else this year.
Get y’all tickets and come too this battle of the band today , don’t be a internet thug lol. Good job both bands, no battles are the same nomore so y’all stop comparing these schools too their old days
I’m sorry who high school band director wrote these arrangements for southern! All that talent in the stands! It was over with PV second song (musicianship). I’m not tripping on the kids from southern they playing. But those arrangements are boo boo and the band director rushed “nothing even matters”. Southern have the most talented trombones in the game they should have had better solos! Bravo PV! Southern you took this L jump on your director!
@@mikelowery9209 you can’t bet on your heart fam! I love SU (not this year) and it mostly because of bad writing. PV got it this year maybe next year SU
@@JUKEBOX09 I watched this live lol. I’m just seeing which song you talking about because copyright removed one of PV songs since I last watched it. Now what’s the timestamp of the song u referring to? 👀
@@YourGoat803 it’s still the second song. Just watch the battle. You clearly hear a piece of the first song on there. So it’s obviously the song after that
A damn good battle from Both Bands. Loving some of the arrangments from my almer mater(PV). Some good some not good. Overall It was a tie for me SU(Much as i can not stand them and they smooth brain fans) was playing extremely well especially on some songs. PV arrangments was excellent but do not substitute Tone and articulation for Volume and Power. But overall proud yall. Good job Bands.
Ive been trying to put my finger on whats wrong with my favorite band S.U... In the beginning of the season it was someone in the tbone section sticking out and was out of tune... but the issue now is trumpets are not there and its giving there arrangements to much middle and makes the band sound muddy ...need the trumpets to balance out the sound with resonance to bring back that crispness... Oh and to many tubas ,thats bringing on tempo issues ...LETS GO JUKES
Su lost that articulation and ability to verbalize a song through instrumentation. They sound like a huge mass band. Like a extremely refined talladega 14-20 or Noasb. What they doing?
I ain’t gonna lie, it’s kinda like the same outcome with Alcorn from last week except that PV started strong at the first half but then they got eaten by SU at the 2nd half. The third song selection was the deciding factor of this battle. Kudos to PV for winning the first two rounds but it’s PV 2-3 SU for me. Now if only we fix those issues at the third song and bring the rest of the new songs against JSU along with Funny Valentine and save the power songs in the end, SU should be good. 😅
They didn't RETURN ANNIHILATION . . . . .🙃🧐🤨 Still a fire song , but yall know FOLX TIRED OF DAT SONG will give PV that Round. .🤷♂ You know what PV good job for the PETTY . it was unanswered
