Although the city of Orenburg in Russia is more known for it's pre- revolutionary style, Paul's favourite part of the city, not surprisingly, is one of the regions built up during the USSR...
like the mosaic. There is something about them that makes them stand out and seem more lifelike even though they are less accurate then paintings or drawings. I bet the Moskva theatre must look really nice at night with the lobby lighting up the huge glass panels! Kind of like a soviet style Lincoln Center in New York. I can imagine going back in time and going to the Moskva theatre for a show with everyone dressed up in there best 60's style clothes and the orangish and yellow light flash a couple of times so everyone would know that the play would start soon and to go to their seats. Then afterwards if it is summer go for a nice walk back to your apartment enjoying the cool air.
Exactly J, you see exactly such things in the old Soviet films! The Россия cinema is right in the heart of Moscow and is huge. it was also where all the film premieres and film festivals used to take place (and probably still do). However it's not just a cinema, when I lived in Moscow I went to a musical theatre play there.
