The vocals are disappointing live compared to the album. So sad watching them performing live

this band needs a better guitar player, at the very least. It had to be said some time. I liked Fate a lot but they soon started going around in circles because of very limited musicianship. I mean he manages to fuck up lines that are one string, basic picking lines. You'd think at some point you'd want to improve your playing a little which THEN might open up new avenues from them to tread. Like pick up a guitar, play for a month and you can be in Soviet Soviet. this band would be totally exposed without effects and a decent drummer. and actually because the sound on sage isnt as good as on record you can hear just how basic those guitar lines are. And fuck, i love punk and post punk and these styles dont have and dont need amazing players. But this doesn't even reach the basic requirements. I'd be embarrassed to climb on stage if i was this shit at guitar.

With all due respect, but for a bunch of youths like Soviet Soviet, how many times in recent years have we heard a band sounding exactly like this (The Soft Moon to start with)? Of course, it's their absolute right to enjoy and exploit (rather than explore) the same bloody thing, all super raging, harsh and drenched in echo delay - still, the shoegazey hype that helped them build a following doesn't save Soviet Soviet from sounding calculated (the band's catchy name included), using their wall-of-noise antics as an excuse. On the record they try getting away with it, while live, the group sadly expose themselves in all of their mediocrity. Whatever (legendary) band pops in your head to compare Soviet Soviet to, you probably won't be wrong. Because they do sound exactly like a group that wants to be compared.

My favorite band. So underrated and such a unique sound. With deep beautiful lyrics. These guys got me through a very rough year and I thank them for creating music that would keep my soul alive and going after loss. ❤

I love Soviet Soviet, but they need to improve the live's performances. The sound is bad, the voice is out of tune and the guitar don't have enough power. Hope they can change it. :/
