Sow bug fly pattern is easy and quick to tie. I fish this bug lots on the Missouri River. Over the last 8-10 years, sow bugs are some of the most productive flies on the river. Day in and day out there is probably one in the mix. Trout Smack is a little variation I tied a bunch of years ago. It seems to work good in the springtime. Not sure why but I'm guessing it's the color of the vrib that get the attention. Maybe because there are lots of eggs in the water and it looks eggy? Anyways...
