we put a flange on the bin all the way around, (inward) then mounted the door. nice and tight fit and the door operates as it should without binding

With that new bin door you installed. Great idea to cut slices so it would bend to fit the bin, however, you should weld the slices now because it’s quite possible when you put beans or corn in the bin that the weight of the product push out on the door, which now has lost the strength to resist the pressure will possibly blow out.

Cole if you get a can of slip plate graphite and spray on the bin it will work well for a couple years or more without having to reapply.

You should have just put in a rubber spacer on each vertical side of that new grain bin door, and caulked up any space between door frame and the grain bin. The flat door operation would be smoother.

make a run away ramp for the gate, drop down ,that will stick out 1' foot away from the bin ,it will be better to get the grain back down in to the grain auger

In Case of FIRE ON THE COMBINE, the Alabama grain farmers mount a 100-gallon water tank with 12-volt pump and 100 of hose with a nozzle on the front of their Grain Cart Tractor. Combines cost $1M this idea might be worth considering?

Not a criticism but what is to stop water getting into the bin and its contents via the top horizontal edge over the next few months of the new access point? It seems to me that you need a hinged cover of some description mounted clear above the new red sliding door to stop rain leaking in. (You obviously cannot seal the joint up watertight as the whole point of the door is to allow access to empty the bin.) Dan
