I grew up on a cattle ranch, but I have always respected the farmers and their ingenuity and dedication to bring in the harvest, just to turn around and start over again.

Well, a clogged up combine is bad, but when you find the clog was caused by a 6 foot rattlesnake, that's still rattling, that's when it gets intense. (Also, riding on top of that combine in that field, Dirt Perfect became "Perfectly Dirty.") Good to see Farmer Chris, always appreciate his sense of humor.
This was a different video than I was expecting today but I still liked it. I grew up farming and I watch a lot of farming videos. I like seeing the newest farming technologies and the different ways farmers work their ground and harvest their crops compared to the equipment that was available back in the 60s, 70s and 80s when I was farming. Farm technology has come a long way in the last 60+ years.
Amen to that! Plug in a GPS, set the coordinates, set the pattern, and, voila! Done! In 2000 our house pad was leveled by an older gent named, "Leroy." Leroy had a CAT motor grader and "occasionally" got out of the cab for a ciggy butt and walk around. Not once did he use a laser.....he had the experience to be able to eyeball his work. Level corner to corner to within an inch and a half and a compaction rating of 94. Just sweet!

My Grandpa was a deacon in his church...The only time I ever heard him cuss. He was lying under his combine, removing a trap door for who knows how many times that day. He had just gotten a whole face full of dirt/dust and didn't know I had walked back to the field. God Bless Our Farmers!!
When you & Mike are together & film, I have a grin the size of California across my face. This was a different video but, I like watching a hard working man do his honest job. And it's wonderful that the combine helps figure out the information Farmer Chris needs to do his job of helping feed the world. I'm not a farmer, never wanted to be one, but I have done the work and I understand the life and I really appreciate it. Thanks, Chris and Mike, for the fun and interesting video.

Different kind of video for you but one that's appreciated. I'm not a farmer, but I follow several farming based channels on RU-vid, it's fascinating to me. As others have said - we owe farmers a lot of thanks for the work they put in for the food we eat.
Back in the day the farmer would have to cut a sample hopper and draw some beans out and take them to the farm scales shack where they had a moisture meter to see if they could cut that day! This combine does it for them, that’s awesome technology Chris! So much improvement over the years. Thanks again for sharing this video Chris! Take care brother! I enjoyed it!
That combine is huge from the front view! That computer technology is amazing! See farmer Chris is cutting soybeans by himself, we had 5-6 combines cutting but the cutter heads range from 18 foot most of them and if you were lucky you could afford a 24 foot head! Thanks for sharing Chris!
We never raised bean, but oats could get almost that dusty. Throat dust was sooo d*mn itchy!! I need a shower now because I’m feeling itchy!! I hope,for the sake of the fellas, that bean dust isn’t so itchy!! 😂😂 Thanks for sharing!

I'm a sucker for heavy equipment. And great operators. I watch Mike Less film all the combines. A lot of information in that cab. Great job Farmer Chris. Maybe the landowner will do better to help you before next year.
Did you know that in the U K you cannot walk around with an open English flag . If you are going to protest it has to be rolled up and while you are at the protest you can fly your flag then when the protest is finished it has to be rolled up again so it doesnt offend anyone . Thats what I love about America there is flags everywhere .
My farming background has to do with fabrication and conversion of old tractors and equipment to standard parts. One year, I helped a farmer bring in the Fall harvest. He had a huge list of JD equipment that was designed to fail after 2 seasons. I coined the phrase, Nothing Breaks Like a Deere, because of that insane 4 months of harvest. The needle bearings for the PTO input shaft took the cake! The fertilizer augers on the corn planter would pit and oxidize after one planting. The combine head lost a bearing during the soybean harvest and we had the mess of removing the soybean dust before lighting the torch! I learned that JD spends 90% of their engineering time making sure their parts are totally unique and impossible to convert to standard parts. The depth they went to was enough for me to never want to use their equipment again! If JD could, they would create their own fastener sizes and unit of measures. Their belts are pure insanity, always 2 feet longer than needed. JD is green and yellow to blend in with the fields when they break down! That way most can't see the farmer cussing and selling his kids for tractor parts!

I spent many a summer riding in my grandpa’s old 60’s Case 960 cutting wheat and then in the fall cutting soybeans, that old machine had cut probably millions of acres in its time and was finally retired when grandpa passed on in 96….Wheat harvest was always my favorite and everytime it comes time for them to start cutting out here in Kansas I miss Grandpa and and riding that on old red Case combine!
I have a great deal of respect for farmers. Costs have increased tremendously but productivity has also gotten better. The other side of the gradually lessening coin value, is grain prices not keeping pace. At least a mixed farm has several income streams. Thank you for feeding me, you are appreciated.

The farm complex, San River Farms, had corn planted across the road from me and I get to watch them harvest from my front porch. Lots of semis full of silage, and then they harvested a field of peanuts up the road.

Chris the did not show something . In the CASE IH combine , the headers can be tilted ie lifted one side inorder to Not hit like a fence post or Mail box as you moving fields . Nice seeing you experiencing the combine game . He chugged it and thats what its all about . Imagine doing all that around past midnight in the TX Panhandle .... Great clip
Modern technology, 35 foot cutter header is huge compared to when I was working for the farmers! Back in the day the cutter heads largest was 24 foot and back then that was huge because we had to travel the roads between each field and, you talking about remove the cutter head and load it on a special cutter head trailer and move to the next field! Farmer Chris has huge fields and it looks like they’re connected to each other!
Damn…. that’s one that if using an oil bath for an air cleaner.. at the end of the day you probably have paste rather than oil… and we tease mikey about dirty windows… Still, a glimse into the life of Farmer Chris..
Land sakes, no wonder combine fires are a real concern round this time of the year. Seems like for every bushel of beans it comes with two of chaff. How then that chaff just settles into every horizontal surface, or pocket. Blow the machine off and remove a few hundred pounds of junk off the sprung weight. Of course it never was said that harvest was a clean affair or that farming in general was white glove work. Hat's off to you good farmer Chris, your harvests henceforth be bushel busting, the rain fall when needed, rows straight equipment not fail in the pinch. Keep it safe and rubber side down.

As a poor farmer's kid, what we would have given for modern equipment! not money...cuz we had none! Just broken equipment! but im not bitter... nope not at all. need to call my therapist.
It's not surprising a not insignificant number of soybean harvesters go up in smoke every year when you see all the dust & dry brash produced. Odd that articulated trucks (semis) in the US(80,000lb) are lower rated weight wise than here in the UK(97,000lb). Fascinating to see the technology available these days to record yield per field etc. Great video Chris (& Chris).
As for the weights of 80K that is in Indiana other states allow more. Some have a per axle weight and then you see trucks and trailer with 7 to 12 axles. Larson farmers in MN can do over 90k but they have 4 axle trucks and 3 axle trailer. It gets really confusing as to what is legal in what state.

Interesting to see the differences and simularities between Chris and my wife's cousin harvesting beans this year in South Dakota. I rode shotgun in the grain cart tractor which Chris doesn't use.
