its as Katara said, there is a war going on. Aang, even though he witnessed war as well, it was only for about 6 months of his experience with the war. not katara, all she has ever known is war. she has been in survival mode her whole life, and all she could think about since her mother was taken from her is hatred. she was very confused with her emotions with aang the entire series because of this, and it makes sense that when she finally feels at peace, she realizes her emotions and decides she loves aang. i think it makes sense. Katara and Zuko is definitely a fan favorite ship, but i've always seen it as they both are close friends who have suffered the same fate from the war. she does not like zuko, and he does not like katara. they both have a very close bond due to their trauma, and both have immense respect for each other, but they do not love each other lol
Jet is dead. The creators weren't allowed to show an on-screen kid death, so when Toph said he was lying when he told them he'd be fine, it was meant to be confirmation for the audience that he wasn't gonna make it.

I LOVE that you don't jump on the Aang bandwagon and act like he makes no mistakes. Ppl hate on Korra for the mistakes she's made but praise Aang. It's annoying! Can't wait till you start Korra! Unpopular opinion, but I prefer LOK over ATLA. Korra is my favorite Avatar.
This is false. Every time the co-creators, writers, and episode directors have been asked about this rumor, they’ve always maintained that Aang and Katara were always the plan since before the first episode even premiered. The rumor was really just started by fans on the internet that ship Zuko and Katara. Nickelodeon’s advertising also tried to push the idea of a love triangle, but in terms of the shows writing, there is nothing that implies a romance between Zuko and Katara. She barely starts trusting him by the finale of the series.
Katara and zuko have no romantic chemistry, they do not like each other that way, i get so tired of the zutara shippers. If the show wanted them together it would have happened. Most zutara shippers are in denial of aang and katara and look for any tiny thing that can put katara and zuko together. Its really annoying.
