Caetano Veloso is Maria Bethânia's brother, and they became famous in the 60's along many other great artists in a movement called "Tropicália", with many lyrics against dictatorship. This song is actually not his. In my opinion, his compositions are usually way better than this one. Oração ao Tempo ("Prayer for Time") is one of my favorites.

Caetano is one of the most important artists in Brazilian history, he's album Tropicália is insane, you should check Belchior, a true genius he composed "Como nossos pais" that you reacted with Eli's and Maria Rita, but he have a lot of other classics, and my favorite is Alceu Valença - Anunciação, you can't get more Brazilian then that.

I would also suggest you react to him singing with Gilberto Gil and Ivete Sangalo. They did a concert together a few years back and it was wonderful!

This song's guitar line is just awesome indeed. The acustic guitar is really popular in Brazil, and much of our music tradition is for it, including samba, bossa and choro. One thing that is not very common outside of Brazil is the 7 strings acustic guitar, really popular in samba music, together with the Cavaco, somewhat like a ukelele, but with steel strings.

Caetano Veloso was exiled in London during the military dictatorsh period in Brazil. He composed some songs in English, some of them among his best songs. Try, "London, London", a very special song about his exile, or "Nine out of Ten", an experimental progressive song.

Its a song in English, he made when he was in England, actually he made a full album, called Transa, all in English but with some parts in Portuguese, and its a brilliant album, it's my favorite of him. That's right, he sings Cucurrucucú Paloma at Habla con ella, he's a close friend to Almodovar and did an album with selected latin classics that led to that participation in the movie.
