I'm in my late 40s and grew up in Chicago. I've been surrounded by House Music my whole life.. You are spot on.. In Chicago we usually keep it between 115 - 130 BPM. For me, between 120 - 125 is the sweet spot for House.
@@al3jxndro It's not something that I realized was even that special until I was much older, looking back in retrospect. House was always something that was there. It was all over the radio in Chicago, so it's what we listened to when we were in elementary school. Then we started going to parties as teens and once again, House was there for us. It was more sophisticated and underground at a lot of these parties, but it was still House, and we loved it all the same. Even the Punk Rock and Metal Head kids from that era who grew up in Chicago have House running through their blood. It's just part of the Chicago DNA.
@@dotsmusichicago maaan that’s fascinating! I never knew that’s how it was in Chicago. From my research, I always just thought House music was only played at underground clubs out there. Love learning about the history so this is dope to hear from someone who grew up in the era!
@@al3jxndro The Hot Mix 5 formed in 1981, they were playing the proto-house stuff on the radio right from the start. Disco, Italo, New Wave, Electro etc.. and then when House music broke through as a legit genre of music it really took off. House DJ's and producers were superstars out here. I was too young to have gone to any of the legendary clubs like the Music Box and the original Warehouse, but when I was old enough, we had clubs that were age 14 and up, and we had High School gym parties, Loft parties etc.. partying in the early 90s was incredible. Witnessing the birth of Cajual records, Prescription records, Dance Mania etc.. and hearing those records being played for the first time was very magical. $5 to gain entrance to a party to hear these DJ's who would all eventually become legendary in the game. Glenn Underground, Derrick Carter, Gene Farris, Mark Farina, Lil Louis.. the list goes on and on. We were spoiled and we didn't even know it.
Haha yeah, I normally stay around 122-125. A lot of people who aren’t familiar with house always tell me it’s too fast but I know it’s mainly bc they just haven’t been exposed to a lot of house that’s been out there for ages. They’ll come around, sooner or later😎 thank you for the input!🙏🏽
@@cobraeffects4024 exactly. Even 125 can be a little slow for me lol I think people nowadays have just gotten used to Kaytranada’s house, which is typically at around 108-115 bpm. Just my theory though
