Just a quick note on the signal transmitter network. If the transmitter loses power it will stop sending for a while. If you are using it to check the amount of something, the receiver side may see that as a signal to send. If your receiver chest is full and you send more... boom. There are 2 easy ways out of this. Either send a "marker" signal to indicate it's all operational and don't send if it's missing, or send a signal indicating that you need items.

Solar panels in space output their listed value, that's already taking into account the always twilight. If you see the actual panels, their output is around 50% of +831%, so right around 470%

As has been mentioned in a few other comments, be careful with those signals. If you lose power on either the transmitter or the receiver the cannons will start firing indiscriminately. I personally have a safeguard condition (set P = 99) that gets checked to make sure the signalling is working but it's also a (probably better) option to send the requested amount from the requester (rather than sending the stocked amount and trying to figure out the requested amount on the sender side). I really love how the beacons work in spaceex. They never felt quite right to me in vanilla. I love the compactness of 8 productivity assemblers surrounding 1 beacon when replacing huge midgame assembler2 builds.

i'd recommend investing heavily into vulcanite production, it's pretty good for the alternative smelting recipes. One of the more subtle benefits is that it costs less electricity to smelt the same amount of ore vs the traditional recipe. (also you can get a decent amount of vulcanite with the core mining drill on your home planet)

A design hint regarding delivery chests... Assuming you want to receive barreled water. Put a cable from the delivery chest that receives the barrels to an arithmetic combinator, multiply with -1, feed this result into a constant combinator wich is set to the desired amount (200 barreled water) and feed this into the transmitter. On the receiver side, put the signal into a inserter and set it to "if desired material > 0". This avoids spaming delivery chests while power-shortage on the transmitter side.

Thank you for showing this mod. No way in another 20 years would I have the time to experience it myself so not missing out with condensed vids is amazing.

There is a way to beam energy between planets, but it does come very late in the tech tree. That does support the idea of making the Factorio-equivalent of a Dyson Sphere tough, which is a really cool concept. Alternatively you can also weaponize those energy beams to melt down the biters.

These always leave me wanting more - loving the series so far

For the delivery system make sure to send the demands vs how much is in, cause any power loss will make the cannon to always fire.

Can't wait to start my journey with this mod pack. I just launched my first rocket in vanilla. So I'm gonna start a new playthrough now molded and really just enjoy the slow burn and mind scrambling process of space exploration and then some. Great videos!

You are going to need a metric ton (actually more) of RSS, so it might be a good idea to produce them (45/s) on Nauvis to use prod/speed modules, then send up the RSS and turn all of them to blank data cards. Which also needs massive (45/s) lines. You can make smaller lines now and beacon it later.

I think Zisteau is in love, mixing up sun/planet, space/ground,.... :)

A good idea is to set up core mining for some free resources and some vulcanite production on Nauvis

How much time has actually passed ingame between this episode and the last? Factorio is a notorious timesink. I endeavoured to try this mod out but have yet to get a single rocket into space.

This mod is so insanely impressive even in its current state. It's essentially an entirely new game in itself

For shipping fluids you might want to look into the "Intermediate Bulk Containers" mod. Even with loosing the ability to recycle the containers unlike barrels, at the max upgrade (which is really cheap) I just had dedicated rockets to ferry the containers back and forth and dedicated landing pads for the liquid rockets to unload them into storage tanks which allowed me to ship HUGE mounts of liquids by rocket into space. I found that it was a major help when trying to supply all the liquids you eventually need for space science.

Are you using an old version of the mod? I see you are missing warnings in the planet stats of the Universe Explorer that can be important to know before you go to those locations. I started with the latest around the time of your first SE video and updated to the latest as of today without issue.

I am really looking forward to see how you will build your first outpost. From my experience Vulcanite is great for 2nd outpost,Cryonite for 1st as it simplifies water delivery a lot.

Hi Z! You will want a circuit network to sustain the warm thermofluid level or else it will fill up and the supercomputers will stop working. I had mine setup with a buffer tank that triggered a machine that un-barreled thermofluid.

You say, "explosion gun" I say, "Perfect instrument to play the Zistonian National Anthem".

The barrels can be recycled to steel, which is much better than landfill.

I play Factorio with Krastorio 2 and Space exploration mods enabled. Both of them add a new endings to the game. Space Exploration, actually, has two endings - solve a puzzle in a special place in space called 'Foenestra' and thus go back to your *home* planet (not Nauvis) OR build a ship and achieve speed of 250 and maintain it for 10 minutes flying between stars with Space Nexus being active on your ship. K2 ending is to activate Intergalactic Transceiver, calling your friends to get you out of there back to your *home* planet and region of space. I managed to achieve second ending of SE (build a ship). It took me hundreds of hours playing this game and I guess, that was the easiest ending so far. There are numerous tips and tricks how to automate interplanetary logistics, including self-sufficient fully automated space ships that do bulk hauling. Huge part of the gameplay is about keeping biters off your colonies remotely or in person, as not every planet in the game is harmless. Some planets are waterless, no water at all, even K2 condensers won't work on them, so you'll have to find a way to deliver enough water to them if you want to colonize them. You will need zillion tons of base resources on your Nauvis orbit platform to research everything.
