Space Engine in Immersive 360 Video

After last week's 360 video I decided to try doing the same thing with space engine, and this is the result. Flying through space and looking at interesting locations. Remember this is a 360 video, not every viewer supports this, if you can't rotate the display then you're not getting the full effect (although, to be fair, the raw video is pretty trippy).

MrJethrohaYou all should buy Space Engine if you haven't a project like SE deserves support more than any other, the educational implications of this software are stunning. It can truly change the perspective of any human being and enlighten one of the sheer infinitesimal position we humans hold in space and time. This program made me look at the world and human life much differently, one no longer has to go to space to get _at least a sense_ of "the Overview effect".

MuitoDaora did you know that Rutger Hauer improvised the last part of that dying speech? He later explained that the "..tears in rain" popped into his head as he was speaking because the scene was set for a light rain but he and Harrison Ford were being flooded by the set rain sprinklers. The expression of amazement on Ford's face was real because he was astounded by Houer's addition to the script. Best sci fi movie from the '80s but don't ever watch any version but the "director's final version".

Its just the visible universe. Beyond the galaxies of the visible universe, the light has simply not has enough time to travel to earth since the big bang, therefore we won't see them. The potential for these kinds of videos is mind boggling. There can be a whole channel dedicated to VR videos like this with a narrator in the background, kinda like a futuristic documentary or something, where you can explore the video itself. Scara and Spud the idea is that it gets vr in front of people who wouldn't otherwise have access. You can download the pattern and cut it out your self, then spend a few dollars on the lenses and magnets. Or spend between $10-$20 to buy a kit with all the parts needed. Maybe a bit gimmicky, but it works. Also gets vr in the hands of those who could create content for it, again, who other wise might not be able to afford, or willing to spend the cash on a full production version of a vr device, such as oculus rift, with out testing on a much cheaper platform first.

This seems like the best advert for Space Engine ever. 360 videos are pretty cool but they seem to have the problem of looking like 240p graphics at 1440p; I assume that's due to the size of the video per frame since its capturing everything around it, like rendering a 360 perspective rather than a single perspective right?
