I'm curious to play again! Played for a year on the PS4 and loved it..this is back when horizons launched. Now I have a PC and have been tempted to jump back in. I've always liked Sepulcher's vids. ( I just don't want to give Frontier any money though....yarrrrrrrrrrr matey!)
I'm real close to reaching Sag A* right now but I've been out here for two months and space madness has me convinced it's a great idea to play chicken with black holes and neutron stars close to the galactic centre. My journey is in peril because of it.
That trip tô Beagle Point. I Never imagined that I would be checking my youtube notifications for the next post to something I already do as a routine. You sir put extreme entertaining value to it. Looking forward to the following episodes.
Just got to beagle, space madness made me try to land the SRV on top of the anaconda and see whether I could backflip the SRV off an ice dune. Yes in both cases :).
Dying in an SRV is like dying on foot. You'll get the death and redeploy screen, you may even lose your exploration data (I lost like 9000cr of bounty vouchers I forgot that I even had), but in terms of position it will just put you in orbit of the planet you were on when you died. Source: just blew myself up to test it lol
This is good but real space madness is when you look over the edge of that impossible drop and convince your self that its only 0.3 g so you could just fly down and use your boosters to slow down before you land.
Great video, as always, Mr.Geist! Your videos are a welcome respite from what is steadily turning into a stagnant pool in regards to Elite Dangerous. Most of everyone else's videos are focused on cheap ways to make credits or what's wrong with Elite, there's nothing entertaining anymore! Thank you for taking us on this trip with you and making it enjoyable, too.
I'm currently going to Beagle Point as well! I started mid June but have been a bit slow going. I'm trying to hoard exploration credits as well as racking up my Exobiologist rank. The space madness hits very hard. I had a similar "this is a bad idea" moment in my SRV about a week ago. I was much less successful than you and crashed it into some rocks, destroying the SRV. It respawned me in my Anaconda in orbit though. Save travels!!
I made a trip to Sag A in a somewhat engineered Krait mk2 not too long ago. Thing had a ~45ly jump range, it was a painful journey, and I'm definitely building a better ship for my next expedition lol. I admire you for taking on this challenge. Good luck, sir!
I remember climbing this really tall mountain in an SRV by Colonia Hub. I met another CMDR and we climbed together. He took his Asp on the way down but I decided to base jump it. I was doing fine until he accidentally rammed me with his ship while watching me.
I made the Beagle Point journey in my trusty Sidewinder with 34 ly range this spring/summer. I don't think my mind will ever fully repair from the space madness...
I've been to Beagle Point and back to bubble. Now i'm in Colonia and probably staying there for a long time :) Don't have reason to go back to Bubble :)
I actually like the distress beacons on the way to beagle point. Makes me think of how many would be explorers failed their journey. It definitely doesn't make sense to have them everywhere though
Meanwhile, me moving refugees with my dbx and no shield to fit more people. The inside of the station was blowing up all over the place... and so was I. It was fun until I got blown from the landing pad just before docking and blowing up because of it (It happened on 3 different pads as well). Bring shields unless you enjoy the smell of blown-up ships!
I'm just starting the game and am watching your videos. This one was awesome! It shows me what kind of fun is up for grabs in this game. I'm a loooonnnngggg way away from doing these kinds of adventures but its exactly the kind of things I've wanted. Stuff it EVE online....you are so much history!
Just left Beagle Point yesterday - can't face the standard trek back so I'm diverting off in a clockwise direction, I'm thinking - no destination so no finish line fever - we'll see...
My good old exploration Phantom has 4 plasma accelerators and 1300 megajoules worth of shields. I can land that bad boy on anything. Even drunk. No problem.
Me: big crater Srv: pls don’t it’s too steep Me: no it isn’t Srv:fine Me:*free fall at 100+ speed and no boost to slow down* Srv: *screaming* Me: WEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEOOOHHHHFUCKFUCKFUCKFUCKFUCK
I'm out in deep space exploring and thinking about upgrading to oddessy, do I loose anything or have to start from a station or perhaps I don't miss a step?
Strange I don't run into distress beacons anymore. When I went exploring the last distress beacon I found was roughly 1500 LY from the bubble, but nothing beyond that.
@@SepulcherGeist ha, yeah IRL its eight hours bottle to throttle, sometimes I get bored on the clock. Its fun trying to fit a type 9 in a mail slot seeing double.
No way! I just set out on my journey to colonia a day ago I'm 13 jumps in and just got out of the bleae thua region Edit: forgot to mention I'm using a neutron highway
I was just wondering as an elite player that's too lazy to engineer his asp with 30 ly jump range, how long did it take to get half way? Without distractions and such.
Half way to Beagle Point? Without distractions? I Dunno, you could still probably do it in like one super long sitting, maybe 8 hrs. Give or take a couple. I would recommend at least 34 ly though.
I'm so confused right now. Is that ingame voice from your ship a setting in game or is it a mod or something. Also how do you use the voice activation thing to tell the ship commands?
Game? This is real life!! No, that's someone who helps me with my videos by providing voice based on what I need in the videos, playing a character named Tetko, basically my co pilot. And I just did the games recall ship command to get my ship to me.
@@SepulcherGeist ok thanks ahaha. I knew there was a program called voice attack so I wasn't sure if it was that or what. While I was watching the video I was thinking this voice sounds really real lol.
Honest question... How much of a difference would it make in terms of number of jumps if you _didn't_ plot the route only through scoopable stars? I feel like that may have extended your trip quite a bit, but I'm not super experienced.
There are so many stars and I jump so far it doesn't make a difference in most regions at all. Never underestimate star density! That changes in the abyss a bit though. Roughly 30% more jumps
How the heck did you disembark on that hot planet?! My ship consistently tells me NO WAY if it's over like 800K and it just let you walk out into well over 1000K like it was no big deal!
I hope so... will have to experiment. Afterall, it didn't shortly after odyssey released. When my srv blew, I died. But I don't know for sure what happens now. I'll test it when I'm NOT hours into an expedition lol
Wait i didnt know that with the SRV. I could have died without even knowing on the little joyride i had on a random moon...Thanks for telling us that detail...now i feel kinda stupid for taking 2 SRVs with me but that was before Odessey so... Also i wondered why your so fast until i noticed u dont use the DSS and do complete Systemscans like me... Its funny that we do the same journey at the same time, only i do it in reverse...
A planet with less mass than Earth having more gravity than Earth is *literally* impossible as far as I know. Seems the stellar forge may have fucked up a little
The force of gravity is a product of the radius of the object vs its mass. So it is very possible for a planet to have less mass than Earth, but an even smaller relative radius, resulting in a higher surface gravity.
